Before I make any major decisions about this room, though, we should really get another host in here..hahah D: What about Moo? He would be a good choice if he's not too busy to take on the responsibility. Or, since we have barely done anything in the Wrath room yet, I could move to this room and help you out if you would like. 3nodding @Moo - Zombies? eek rofl Well, I guess zombies are rather slothful. Have you ever seen a zombie run apart from in the Left 4 Dead games? xd We will see. I would like to, don't get me wrong, but I work once a weekend and its usually from 6 to 6. That might be a problem. xp How long are you going to be in the Coast Guard? Is it a permanent thing, or are you hoping to move into a different line of work after you get some military experience? When is the ball again? Around when, you know, monthly... I am being sent to Boston, on the cutter Spencer, a 270 ft. Patrols are usually 4-6 weeks long, so if it falls then...

It would either be June or July, but that's just based on years past. I can't really say for sure until they nail down the date. It must be cold in Boston this time of year. She gave the go ahead for me to choose a second in command, so that's good! She also said she'd take a look around this thread to see what we've been saying. Sounds like things can finally start coming together for this room!

That would make our room awesome! xd You know that everyone will flock to the zombie room! lol I just posted in the Wrath room that I'm leaving for this room. It almost feels like a breakup, but at least it is on good terms. sweatdrop But, I'm super excited about working together with you, Crystal! @Moo - When do you think you'll find out about your ship's schedule? If it won't be until later, we can write two plots: one that involves Moo, and one that doesn't. That way, we will be safe either way, and Moo will have more of a chance of participating without too much trouble. And, to get down to business, we need to figure out how we are going to do fund-raising in this room. The Wrath room is full of artists, so they are going to do an art auction. What skills do we have in here? I have pretty good art skills, but I don't have a scanner, so I'm out as far as selling art goes. The Celebration room had a store in the exchange last year, but that didn't work as well as we had hoped. An auction might be good. We could also try a 50/50 raffle like Epcot suggested in the Wrath room. I hate to steal ideas, but if we do them in a different way, I think it will be okay. I don't want to infringe on anyone else's business. So, does anyone have any ideas? Also, we need to go ahead and choose the co-hosts. We have several applicants, but I would like to talk with each of them a bit more to find out if they are still interested in the ball after all of these months have passed. As far as a plot for this room, and characterization is concerned, I think it would be best to save our energy and wait for the main plot to come out. Then, we can design our characters, make tekteks of them, hire an artists, and get our room art taken care of. The games and contests will also be based off of the plot, so we can save that until later also. 3nodding

Wow, you get down to business fast! Which is very awesome! And I will also probably be apologizing to the Wrath Room multiple times over the course of this ball planning for stealing you! XD
Plot was my last worry, since the main plot still hasn't been worked out (which surprised me, but I guess everyone's been very busy, right?).
Co-hosts I wasn't worrying about too much. You're right, I would also like to know them a little better before choosing, but at this point, I'm also not sure if we can afford to turn anyone away or not just yet. It depends a little on the plot, I suppose.
Fundraising is something we can get cracking on right away, though. I myself don't have much talent, unfortunately. I like to write and roleplay, if that helps? I've seen people with writing shops, where they sell little pieces of writing and poetry, but I don't know how well those usually work out. Art really is the biggest way to make money around here, but it seems like it's not much of an option right now. I like the raffle idea, but let's try to think of other things before we use that. Auction does sound good, though. Graphics, perhaps? Tektek shop?
And Moo, you're always welcome to pitch in any ideas or random comments or anything you want. If you can get involved with the ball we'd love to have you. =D

It's kind of ironic that I would be over zealous in the Sloth room. rofl I guess that's just my personality. I never leave anything half done.
You're probably right about accepting everyone. I just want to make sure that they still want to do it. I'm pretty sure that The Inglorious Flutist is still interested. I've chatted with her outside of the guild. I'm not sure about the others though.
I can do banners. They aren't anything too impressive, but I might be able to sell them for about 5k apiece. It would take a while to raise enough gold that way, but I can't think of anything else relating to my skills right now. I will post some samples a little bit later. I won't have too much free time to do stuff this week, but I should have loads of time after that.
And, don't feel too bad about stealing me from the Wrath Room. They have lots of great ideas and talent already, so my absence won't make much of a difference, especially this early in the game.

I do have Photoshop, so I could probably rustle up banners of some sort as well, but I'm definitely no artist. After this week is over it's the holidays, so that should be a good time to catch up and try to figure out everything.
Okay, so we've got one co-host lined up for sure. That's definitely good. Fundraising ideas....

You're the senior host, so you get to be a sin! xd I mean, unless you would rather be a virtue. I'm fine either way.
I can do some pretty neat banners using the image options in Powerpoint 2007. You wouldn't think of it as an image editing program, but it can do some cool stuff!

It doesn't matter to me! I've had no previous experience as a host, really, so this is all a learning experience to me!
Powerpoint, really? You're right, never have thought of it that way. I suppose Photoshop will still get the job done, though. ;D
Yes, I am very excited! Excited for the all the fun things we will hopefully get to do and put into motion, of course. <3
