Ariane frowned, still crying. "You didnt believe me? After all we have been through, you thought I was lying to you?" She looked at where the stab wound should be. "Do you believe me now?!"

"I--," Luka started, but couldn't finish his thoughts. His mind was blank, confused by the odd feeling as if his skin was being torn off----he grimaced, looking at his feet. "I think they're playing games with us," he muttered, trying to keep the pain out of his voice. are they going to kill me? He thought, and then the feeling stopped and he felt as if something was stuck to his back------ "My----!"

Luka tried to grab at what was stuck to his back, flailing and running in circles. "Get it off get it off get it off!" He let out a high pitched yelp of pain as he managed to grab what was stuck to his back, realizing that it was attached to him-----it was his wings.

Ariane's screamed, "Whats happening to your wings!" She grabbed him, and made him stay still. Whatever is doing this, please stop! He doesn't deserve this! Just let me die, just dont hurt him,her mind screamed.

"The promise they made to me," he said, still no looking at her. "Was that should I make you fall in love with me, I would be allowed back into heaven----my wings would be restored and I wouldn't be earthbound anymore." Had he misunderstood, in the end? Had they been testing him, to see if he'd really loved her, if he'd try to get her back? "I----I can't go, not now," he didn't want to, nor did he remember Heaven's ways----he'd lived among the humans for 204 long years, he was hardly an angel anymore. And now, after so much pain, they wanted him to just forgive them and go back into their arms, no questions asked, abandoning what he'd suffered for for so long? Lukas couldn't believe it. Could they really be so heartless? To torture one of their own---and for God to let it happen, what could possibly be just in that? He'd done nothing to deserve the agony they'd put him through.

"I won't go," Luka said, looking at her, wide eyed. "I wouldn't do that to you, you should know that by now, Ariane." After all, he'd gone so far, he was finally able to be happy, he finally had the reason he was bound here, the one he'd given it all up for----why would he throw it all away now?

"If it weren't for me, maybe----Maybe you would have lived happily with someone of your own kind, maybe you would be happy," Luka said, voice edged with pain. "You wouldn't have had to die so many times, I--- I should've kept my feelings to myself in the beginning." She had been dragged into this because of him, she'd done nothing to deserve so many deaths, so many tests. Had he not been so selfish, maybe she wouldn't be crying now.
