Gosh he didn't look good at all. The way he was groaning ... but he said he was okay. Rikki would never, ever, EVER lie to her, so he must've been telling her the truth. Right?
Danny bit one of her nails, which were becoming more and more like claws every day, and leaned back against the headboard once more. "I ... don't know. I ... don't think they'd let me." They, referring to her parents. Ever since Oersted was around (which, for Danny, was her entire existance), no one had expected much out of her. Her grades weren't great, and she could only place maceball for so long. She chose not to think about it most of the time.
Changing the subject, she said, "What about you?" Did Rikki even want to be big and important? She always just pictured him lying on a bed or playing drums for the rest of his unlife. Then again, Danny wasn't really very creative.

Wouldn't let her? What did that mean. His brows furrowed as he considered the implications of that statement, but he didn't get far. He'd consider it letter. "Me? I'm just a grim. We don't get to be big an' important," he laughed, but it was a sleep gargle of a sound. "That's the demons' jobs. I've thought about mom and dad's job though. Might get in with a bigger company. Maybe be more important than them."
Because that was the important thing about work. One upping your parents with a big jack you.

Alright, that laugh did not sound normal. Danny wanted to pull the blanket up over him and declare it "night night time," but somehow she doubted he would stay put for very long. Best to just advert his focus.
"Wanna watch a movie? Or... play hexbox? We have that too I think," she commented. Maybe she could take his mind off all this future stuff by skelevision screen.
Without even noticing she was doing it, Danny rubbed the base of her wings awkwardly. Why were they hurting so much? Seriously, she must've slept on them REALLY funny. "Jackdammit," she hissed under her breath.

"Mmm, we can watch a movie," he mumbled. Maybe she'd pick something boring and he could just drift off to sleep? That probably wasn't the best idea, given the way his head felt, but he'd deal. If he needed FEARhealing... well... at least he'd probably reform if he dissipated from a head injury? Right? Maybe.
However, they didn't get that far because Danny hissed under her breath and his eyes snapped open and focused on where she was rubbing the base of her wings. "What's wrong?" he demanded, suddenly sounding slightly less tired. Nothing like a little best friend (or more) protectiveness to kick a reaper into gear.

Danny looked at him. He was already hurting and rubbing his head, she didn't want to bother him any more than that. "Oh nothing. Don't worry about it," she said with a smile.
She reached over the bed and pulled out the little drawer of movies she had set up. Being bored all week, she had rented quite a few and tried to watch them to no avail. She just couldn't sit still. She would try for Rikki, but probably get up in the middle of that too.
Not really knowing which movie it was (nor paying attention in the slightest), Danny pulled out a movie and bounded over to the SV to put it in. After doing that, she returned to Rikki's side. He looked rather awkward laying down like that. Probably couldn't see the movie very well either. "You should probably sit up. You look kind of silly," she said bluntly.

Quelled by her smile, he settled back down until she was sitting by him again. He looked silly? He was just laying down! "Fine!" Pouting he shifted until he was curled around her legs and his head was rested on her hip. This way, he could still lay down and see the movie just fine. It seemed totally normal to just cuddle with Danny this way, but even half dazed he had ulterior motives. He was a sneaky b*****d.
He'd had intentions of teasing her further, but only minutes into the movie he'd fallen into a soft, peaceful sleep, still curled around her.

Danny was surprised when he moved up onto her legs. She could feel him breathing softly onto her leg. Her face was a bright red, but she didn't really know how to respond. Was this just their normal thing? Like at movie club? Was Rikki being coy?
His breathing slowly turned deep, and Danny realized he was asleep. The movie hadn't even started! With a motherly smile, she put one hand on his head and began petting him softly. Hopefully he would have good dreams.
Almost at once, she too fell asleep, laying her head on the headboard. It was picturesque and adorable.
---
CUE OERSTED. The demon man still wasn't happy with yesterday's results. How could Danny just give herself away to those ... things?! Couldn't she see how special she was? Oersted grimaced in his office. He hadn't been able to get his mind off it all night. His thoughts just kept returning to Rikki's finger pointing at him, Moure's gross little face and ... and that expression Danny had showed him. It was so ... so...
He needed to see her and straighten things out. No, not apologize. Straighten out as in get that thing out of his building.
Silently he crept down the stairs and knocked on the door. "Ah ... Daniella?" he said.

Somewhere during the night Rikki had gotten uncomfortable and ended up as shirtless as he was shoeless and then curled back around Danny. Thus, when he groaned and rolled out of bed to answer the soft knock, he was clad only in the jeans that hung low on his hips. His hair was a mess and he had to squint to see past the tired blur in his eyes. What was it, like seven? Nyyrikki's brain didn't function at that hour.
Which explained why he didn't realize the blur he was blinking at as he leaned against the door frame was the very demon he never wanted to see again. Ever. He rubbed his eye tiredly and yawned. "Yeah?"

Oersted waited for the door to open, and began apologizing even as it swung open slowly. "Daniella, I'd just like t-"
The image in the doorway horrified him. It was the reaper boil with his pants slung low and his hair... his hair was ... At first he pushed past the boil to look at Danny, who was still obliviously passed out on the bed. She was a deep sleeper, that was for sure.
With wide, angered eyes, he picked up Rikki via the neck and carried him outside, so as to not wake his sister. Once out in the hall, he had to restrain himself from killing the boil right there on the spot. "What. Have. You. Done. To. Her." he said in that low, ominous tone that parents so often adopt when something has gone horribly wrong. On the outside he was still suave, cool Oersted, but on the inside he was having a sincere rebuttal.

Rikki made a small sound of confusion as the much larger body pushed his out of the way and took the small moment he had to rub his eyes clear.... and realize that he'd just opened the door for Oersted...

It all happened within seconds, and then he was once again becoming familiar with Oersted's hand around his neck and the feeling of weighing nothing as he was relocated to the hallway. It was too early. What should he say? Do? did he get angry? Yell at the demon and pretend he knew what was going on? But he didn't. He hadn't done anything to Danny and somehow he still felt like a kid getting in trouble for touching something he shouldn't have.
Nervous and confused, all he could muster was a small, "..What?"

Oersted threw his fist inches from Rikki's head in that incredibly cliche manner. He was working REALLY hard to contain his anger.
It wasn't working well.
"What. DID. YOU. DO. TO. HER?!" he growled, practically a shout. "You cannot BEGIN to tell me that you've done nothing to her looking LIKE. THAT." He smashed the wall again. Oersted was just about as good as Danny at the whole "quiet" thing.

That was a fist. Inches from his face. He could smell Oersted. That was how close. He stared at his fist wide-eyed as the demon asked his question again and he fumbled for an answer, not really sure what he was supposed to be saying.
"I... I didn't do anything to her! You saw her! She was just laying in bed." His parents couldn't even do this to him, but somehow this demon, just a few years older and way more powerful (OVER 9000!) reduced him to a confused and slightly petrified scareling. He'd been all but willing to tango last night when he had something to defend and a reason to be indignant, but here he just had no clue what was going on.

"Laying in bed. LAYING IN BED?!" Oersted was indignant. "HOW WOULD YOU EVEN KNOW?!" How would he know unless he saw her lying in said bed. Being a teenage boil, he must've, he must've-
Oersted's eyes narrowed, and he relented from the wall, looking the boil up and down, evaluating him, judging him, and not liking what he found. "It's no wonder Tellervo didn't want to associate with you scum."

...

Nyyrikki shoved at Oersted's chest and felt his anger boil to red hot. "You keep assuming you know enough about my family to talk about them," he hissed, voice dangerously quiet as he narrowed his eyes at his opponent. His chains glowed dully around his upper arm, rattling with the force of his rage as he leaned in close, rising on his toes just to be that much further in the demon's face. "You don't know s**t about Tellervo. You couldn't begin to understand the guy he was because you will never be as good. You can't even maintain a healthy relationship with your sister," he spat. His fists were balled so tight that he could feel the crescent shaped stabs of pain going all the way up his arms, but it was a welcome sensation that kept him a little more grounded.
"I. Did. Nothing. To. Your. Sister." He growled. "She picked my limp a** up, dragged me here, and then made sure I was okay when I could barely think straight after my impact with the wall. Even your little sister is a better person than you. How does that feel?"

If Rikki was an explosion, Oersted was a jacking volcano eruption. "OF COURSE SHE'S BETTER THAN ME YOU MINISCULE, INCONSSSIDERATE, JACKING SSSON OF A JACKING-" His arm was already arching up ready to punch the boil through several of the walls, and fire was spouting from every direction. He was the epitome of intimidation. Suddenly he faltered though. There was hesitation.
The intimidating display was sucked back up in an instant. "Go back to her," he said, already relenting from the wall, running a hand through his hair in the way that Rikki so often did. "Go."
It was clear the conversation was over.
--
Over too late though. Danny, hearing the first punch, had woken up with a startled look on her face, even more so when she didn't final Rikki complacently sleeping on her lap with that cute look on his f-
FOCUS DANNY. She got up and gave a quick search of the room. He definitely wasn't anywhere here. She searched her jacket pockets for her phone, attempting to call the boil in case he had run off. A second thud sounded outside her room; Oersted's next punch. Now she got it. Danny burst out the door to find Oersted standing dangerously close to Rikki, running his hand through his hair, other hand still balled in a fist on the wall.
Without even thinking about it, Danny wiggled in between the two, pressing her body far too close to Rikki's. She couldn't get in between them any other way. "O-Oersted, stop. Get away from him!" she shouted with her hands spread wide and defensively. Danny wasn't letting him take her best ... friend.
---
Oersted on the other hand looked completely appalled just to see her again. The defeated expression he had held with Rikki was wiped from his face, instead replaced with the cold, indifferent look he so often wore. He gave a look at Rikki, and then walked away, leaving the two alone in the hall.
