After deciding himself clean, shaitni picked himself up and trotted over ot Ling's side. He debated what would be out of place for him to ask, so said nothing instead, not wanting to get in trouble already. "..."

Ling looked down at the kitten and grinned. "Hello again little one..." He sighed, his eyes deep with his inner thoughts, but he paid attention to the kitten.

"Something is on your mind," he said, looking up to Ling. He hoped nothing ill wouldcome form his statement, but he didn't know what else to say. Shrugging, he continued, "But it is not in my place to ask about your affairs..." He broke free of the facade, refusing to act like the naiive cub any longer.

"Perhaps..." He smiled and looked out at the stars. "I was thinking about you...and the others..that's all.." He reached out a paw and patted the child on the head. "I've known a good king...and I fear that I will not be one."

Shaitani exhaled heavily, "Any king is better than-" He stopped, "I'm sure you will be as good a king as he fomr your former pride, if not better."
Yes, out of the few he would trust in his lifetime, Ling was one of the lions that he felt he could bank all of his loyalty in without fail. He didn't doubt that he would turn out to be a strong king, so did not find it necessary to lie to keep his spirits up.

Ling smiled and nodded to the little kitten. "Thank you. You are quite wise for your age, and I find comfort in that...So you truely think I shall be a good king eh? Perhaps I shall. I shall out roar the largest male and out boast anyone else." He chuckled and held his head high.
((Aww...that's ok. I'm nearly allways around, so no worries))

Shaitani nodded, confirming what Ling had said. "You don't seem like a dictator," he said in a joking tone, "Which is good." He tacked on seriously. "No one likes a fierce dictator." He began idley drawing another picture with his nail (left pawed feline here wink ), not even paying close attention to what he was doing.

"Not a dictator eh?" He nodded. "I do not plan on becoming one in the near future, so I assume that I should be fine..thank you for the warning all the same my little dark friend." He noted the picture the other was drawing and chuckled. "an artist...I see..."

Nuri, a young adult male wandered in from the fringes of the desert looking ragged and just a little too lean. The smell of water from the nearby lake drew him into the lands of Ling and his growing pride, but first... a break. He needed to rest under shelter for a while.

Ling remained seated outside his cave. He scented the air, someone was coming closer...a male. He rose from his place and motioned for the small kitten to get inside the cave, Ling would be the one to check this out, he didn't need anyone tagging along. He dashed off in the direction of the scent, hopping that what he found was not agressive.

A cave... was that a cave up ahead? The heatwaves rising up from the earth, like hot flashes riding up his spine, made him dizzy as he tried to focus on a vaguely familiar shape. Large black and white blobs bounced toward him as he approached. Hm, maybe I don't need that shelter so very much, he thought, falling to his knees and disappearing from sight into the tall grass. Feeling faintly cooler here, he slid to his belly and did not move. I'll just rest... for a little while...

Ling saw the form of a male in the distance, it soon vanished however into the grass, he followed and notted that he was now lying on ground. He nudged the male with a paw, careful not to try and come off as hostile. "um..pardon?"

Nuri twitched as he was nudged, distantly wondering if it was a buzzard. No, the blobs... a lion. He knew that lion, from somewhere... the voice however did nothing to remind him. He made a soft noise that sounded like a cross between a grunt and a moan that ended in a squeak. "Give... me a few... minutes. I'm so tired..." The lion standing over him was an adult, obviously male. Despite his fatigue he knew he had to do something to prove he meant no harm. All he could manage however, was to roll over partway to his side and mumble, "I come in peace."

It was obvious that this lion meant no harm to him. Ling, however, was cautious. He remembered tihs lion from somewhere, the markings, the colors. He moved around the other male, circling him, inspectiing him. "Why do you come into my territory...? It is clearly marked. You give me no roar of warning, and yet you lay here and claim peace?"

"I need water...come in from...the desert." Nuri frowned. Come to think of it, the territory had been marked but he simply had not noticed. His thirst had overridden his senses. "Want me to roar now? It'll sound a bit...dry..." Nuri chuckled through his teeth, which between that and his dry throat sounded more like a whistle. The good news though, he was starting to feel a bit better. Here off the sands it was a bit cooler than on the scorching sands that stayed warm for quite some time after dark.
