Kiyoshi looked at his sister disipointingly as she stepped in front of him and the Hatter. And with Xamthos speaking down to him, Kiyoshi felt as if his siblings were siding with the Hatter over him. Kiyoshi always thought of himself as a man of his word. if he told someone he was going to bite his head off, then he felt obligated to do so. However, Xamthos pointed out that Raven was still in need of their help, and he had promised to protect his Siblings.
Kiyoshi turned from the Hatter and shrugged. "Fine, Raven first. She is more important anyway". Kiyoshi said as the three gathered together to form a plan of action. Faun was the first to think of a plan, however since she never talked, it was difficult for Kiyoshi to directly understand what she was talking about all of the time. However, after a moment he realized what she was saying. Faun wanted him to create a portal back into the second squads barracks, but to create the portal in the air to get a jump on the Shinigami. Kiyoshi did not know how much of a opportunity they would have, once they stepped through the portal the Shinigami would be able to sense their power. They would have to be quick to get the jump on them.
Never the less, Kiyoshi took a few steps forward and concentrated on the area he wanted to enter from. It was difficult, he had been blinded the majority of the way, but Since Kiyoshi's other senses are heightened, he should still be able to enter the correct area.
Kiyoshi turned to Xamthos. "If you get bored and decide to Kill him, Leave his head for me" Kiyoshi said as he prepared for the portal.
Kiyoshi released the energy required and opened a Enjitsuten portal to the squad 2 interrogation center. On Fauns count they would enter.

Our memories are cast through them
She smirked a bit at Xamthos's quip. Without further delay, she drew her sword and released shikai, followed quickly by bankai. Before the waves of increased power even finished settling, she leaped through the portal.
Those sparks are everything
In them, I can see Life ((Exit Faun, stage left. As a side note, her zanpakuto doesn't change appearance on release, it just gets stronger and produces better quality reishi))

Hatter, Adviser, Madman The Hatter, although tied, began to mumble muffled words. He tried to toss and turn, which was hard to do considering the fact he was tied up. His eyes flared open and he began to try and roll, screaming into the gag. A cold sweat broke out on his body as his breathing became labored, heavily labored.. This was only made worse by the rope around his throat. Carroll's panic only lasted for a minute or so before he came down off the hysteric high. His eyes sought the horizon, half blind with hysterics, trying to find answers to whatever it was that pained him. His breath was still short through the gag, mumbling against it more and more. It was quieter at least though, that much was for certain.

Xamthos, who had been sitting watching the Hatter with the sort of single-minded focus that only he could pull off, did not need to wait long after the others left for his charge to come around. From his perch nearby on that small boulder, Xamthos watched with an impassive air as the Hatter seemed to have a miniature epileptic seizure. Once the bound and gagged man had settled down a bit, Xamthos felt it would be appropriate to talk to the prisoner. Be a little more civilized than this guy prolly thought. After all, if he treated a prisoner cruelly, he would be no better than that damned Second Captain and his inhumane torture methods. A lack of physical damage did not make up for the insane amount of pain inflicted...in fact, that fact only made it worse. He'd be damned if he was gonna sink to that level. "I see you're awake," he said quite calmly from the rock. He could hear muffled attempts at vague speech, but he figured the guy could hear him. "Please forgive what I confess may be slightly excessive restraints. If you swear on your honor not to attempt to use any kidō, I shall remove the stone from your mouth so that we might have a civilized conversation to pass the time. Just make two grunts for 'yes' and one grunt for 'no.' Regardless of what you choose, though, know that no harm shall come to you by my hand unless you attempt to do me harm first." And he meant what he said about removing the gag. Hell, if the Hatter proved to be exceptionally cooperative, he might even go so far as to cut the vine binding his extremities to his neck.

Faun stepped through the enjitsu carrying Raven over her shoulder like a wet rug. As soon as she was fully clear of the portal, she turned and extended her hand; closing it to keep the shinigami from following. One look around. Hatter was still tied up, Xamthos kept his word. Good. Faun knelt and softly laid Raven on the ground. She tapped her sister on the collar bone a couple times with a concerned expression. The meaning: Are you okay?

In them, I can see Life ((I'm aware that it's Kiyoshi's gate, I figure that since the enjitsu is a place/remove spell rather than a sustained cost effect, then the method to close one can work universally. Or not, honestly I'm just pulling this straight out of my a** so feel free to call me on it))

Hatter, Adviser, Madman Carroll didn't grunt. Not once nor twice. He was still sobbing, muffled words and screams with a pained look in his searching eyes. It should have been obvious enough that the Hatter had heard what Xamthos said, but whether it was registering or not was the real question. He continued tossing and turning, which in turn added more friction burns into his skin, mostly around his neck. It might take some more doing, but eventually it would cause him to bleed if not suffocate. But right now, that wouldn't be an immediate concern.
He tried to rock back and forth to no avail, his bindings too tight. But however one looked at it, he seemed pretty harmless. Carroll seemed under incredible duress at the moment, so much so that it was causing mental anguish to the point at which he'd rather take physical pain. In other words, the man was either sincere in his actions and entirely harmless, or he was acting at an incredibly skillful level. It was one of the two. He himself knew what the truth was, which of those two were accurate. To him the question was if the Monkey would set him free. It was just a shame that the right answer to whether Carroll was faking it or not, was that he was truly experiencing the mental trauma of whatever was going on inside his head.

Kiyoshi watched as his sisteres came back through his portal. Once the two of them were through, Kiyoshi closed the portal behind them. Kiyoshi ran to his sisters, looking them over to make sure that they were unharmed. Raven looked a bit beaten, and it was obvious she was low on her power. However, this was to be expected. Raven went toe to toe with two of the Shinigami captains and had to deal with the Cat's actions as well. Although Kiyoshiw as curuous about the cats intentions, he did not ask at this moment.
"Are you all right? are you harmed Raven?" Kiyoshi asked, the worry was evident in his voice. After a moment, Kiyoshi's attention was drawn over to the Hatter, who he saw was tossing and turning.
"What is he doing Xamthos? why is he moving like that?"

xxxRaven was placed in the ground by her sister and groaned lightly as the light started to make her head pound worse again. Though the affects were slowly lessening. Once she finally got a bearing of her surroundings, she opened her eyes again and looked around, immediately being bombarded by her younger brother. Managing to sit p and rub her head, she waved him off. "Nothing I can't handle. A little while longer and I'll be good as new." She said as her ears picked up on a lot of movement. She looked over in Carroll's direction and made a 'Tch' sound before dragging herself to her feet and going over to him. She glared at her siblings. "Honestly. I can't leave you guys alone anymore. This could just as easily kill him. If he didn't strangle himself first, which could have happened, he could have choked to death on the rock fragments that would have broken off." She said before pulling out her Zanpaktou to cut his bindings a bit. In an attempt to steady him at least, she made him look her directly in the eye. "You can thank your comrades that you're still here. You were going to be traded off for my brother. But as you can clearly tell, I have my brother and you're still here. It's in your best interest to do as I say for now. I'm going to cut your bindings. I need you to hold still so I don't accidently cut you instead." She said firmly before waiting for the order to be followed before cutting his bindings so he could be a bit more comfortable before removing the rock Gag. She looked up at her siblings in a challenging way after she had finished. "And I don't want to hear anything about what I just did. He is sorely outnumbered. It would take a matter of moments to subdue him again." She said before unsteadily walking away from Carroll to her favorite tree and leaning back for a moment before curling her knees to her chest as she pressed her hands to her temples again as she tried to relax and get rid of the headache.

Hatter, Adviser, Madman Carroll only held still for a few moments until he was free, half spitting out the rock gag removed from his mouth. Immediately, he balled up again, rocking entirely. His hands rested upon his temples, applying a fair amount of pressure. His eyes seemed to shake in their very sockets. He was having a full on panic attack. "Make it stop... Please... make it stop." He begged, pleading, never looking up at his "savior," the very one who brought him here. "It hurts my eyes, please make it stop. I can't not see it!" He cried out, rocking faster. He finally looked up at least, showing his stained cheeks. He could feel the dull throb of the rope burn across his body, but the pain in his head overwhelmed it, as well as most of his senses, vision blurred, hearing only partially there, touch basically nonexistent and smell overloaded with the smell of fire and death.

As his siblings returned, Xamthos was forced to admit to himself that they'd been faster than he thought. Although he'd been about to answer Kiyoshi's question, Raven's freeing of him quickly allowed the Hatter to answer for himself. Clearly he was having some manner of mental breakdown for some reason. He decided, at that moment, what was required of him. Youngest he was, and yes perhaps somewhat naive compared to his family because of it. But he knew that this battle would not decide who was right. It would only decide who was left. At least, the way it was going now. Even if it wasn't the winning side, he was going to take the third option. As he took back his spot on the large rock, he tossed the Hatter's hat at its original owner. His entire being went a bit slack for a fraction of a second. His mind, for that split-second span, was in his Zanpakuto's Spirit World. Despite his body only going under for less than one whole second, the meeting with the spirit of En'ō might have taken an hour or a week. Time moved differently there. As soon as his eyes opened, he seemed...different. His voice, as he spoke, was not loud. It was even a little soft. But it was clear and resounding as if filled with all of the power of his Kōchaku. "With all of us here and whole, it's high time we take a serious moment to calm down and discuss what we know. First off, how each Captain fights. Raven, Kiyoshi, and myself have had, as far as I know, the most direct experience with this. Personally, I have seen a bit of how the Fourth Captain operates. Kiyoshi, the Second. Raven...I would assume the Second and Twelfth. I recommend we start there since thus far we've suffered unconscionable casualties caused by a lack of preparation." The last time Xamthos had commanded so much authority, it was long before they'd been sealed away when he had personally performed the deeds that the Indians and Chinese these days called "myths" about their respective simian deities. ((Edited, thanks to iChan for once more reminding me that the story is not what it was before I broke my hand and had to take that unconscionably long LOA))

Kiyoshi continued to watch the Hatter roll in pain. for a moment, Kiyoshi thought nothing more than to watch the man roll around in agony. It was a ftting punishment, whatever was going on. If the Hatter did not enjoy what was going on, Kiyoshi felt it should continue. However, As Raven walked over to the man and released his bonds, Kiyoshi's attitude changed. If Raven felt this man was worth keeping alive, then Kiyoshi wouldn't have it another way.
I don't know what this man is writhing on about, but if he is so important to us, I could put him in my healing sphere like I did myself, but I would advise against such actions as it would restore his energy as well". Kiyoshi said, scratching his head.
Kiyoshi's attention turned to Xamthos as he spoke. "It's true those are who we had the most in contact with. However, we have been outmatched each time because we consistantly sacrifice ourselves for one another. We need to stick together and attack the Shinigami as a whole, as we did so long ago".

Hatter, Adviser, Madman "Hearts... they hang like fruit from its branches. Screams everywhere. Why can I hear this? Why can I see it?" He screamed, his breathing growing even more ragged. After a moment, it seemed to pass, although he was still hunched over like he was. He began to vomit, or rather, dry vomit. Nothing really came out, but he was retching all the same. Carroll's actions likely did not look pretty, but they felt worse than they looked, or so he believed. After collecting himself for the moment, he went back to rocking, muttering silently. "Why do its branches reach so far? Such familiar screams. It hurts.... gouge them out... gouge them out."
Calmed down? Yes. The Hatter seemed calmed down, though he made no motions for his hat, which had been tossed back to his person by Xamthos. But he was definitely still suffering heavily from mental anguish. In theory, he could begin to panic and grow violent, either towards others or his own person, which sounded likely given his mutterings. Or he could also begin to attempt to flee, not that he could ever escape the Katena in their own world. And even if he did become violent, it wouldn't be hard to stop him. Slowly, the mutters of Carroll's pain became whispers, soft steps of his words falling from his lips to something... something.... His hands shakily reached for his pocket watch, grabbing it, pulling it up to stare into the hands. At this particular moment, they were stopped. And like the hands of his pocket watch, his zanpakuto, the Hatter himself seemed to freeze in place, the only motion upon his whole body being the slight movement of his lips as he spoke to the clock face.

And now Lewis was spouting more nonsense while things were supposed to be serious. Although in the depths of Xamthos's mind, he wss dimly conscious of the possibility that the environment itself and his recent knock out had triggered some manner of mental breakdown. All the same, though, the hatter was silent again and Xamthos spoke once more. "I repeat the sentiment I made when first we awoke. We should not have initiated violence with them. And judging by Raven's current state, I can only assume she showed them the only trump card we had left. Until you guys decided to throw all strategy and caution to the four winds, our Kōchaku forms were the only thing that we had that they had no idea about. And I would have words with the one who first decided to reveal our most powerful one-up."Xamthos was pissed, and it showed in the way his tail's fur was bristling and his mouth was stretching as he spoke in that very simian way, showing that his teeth were also slightly elongating. If he went much further in his anger, he risked transforming entirely into his own Kōchaku, and each time before when his rage had peaked that high...well, does Atlantis ring any bells?

xxxRaven merely listened to them as she sat there, waiting on the pounding of her head to ease. She let her legs down and leaned her head back with it slightly cocked so that her hair was covering half of her face. She remained silent until she saw Xamthos getting upset. She nimbly got up and narrowed her eyes at him, glaring the entire time she walked over. "Don't forget your place Xamthos." She growled as she got right up in front of him. "You've seen the way they fight. I was facing the second Captain. His powers are Ice. There was only one way to keep my body going and not shutting down from the cold was to go into my dragon form. I had every intention of razing that entire place down with my fire. I wasn't going to be easy on them." She said as she held her head for a moment. It wasn't as bad, but her head was still hurting. "I would have been able to do it, except that the Twelfth Captain has some sort of Poison that the cat copied. He activated it and caused my current state." She said as she grit her teeth before walking back to the tree and sitting back down, leaning her head back again. "Know all the facts and the situation before you judge me Little Brother. Though I would tell you. I was not the first to reveal myself. The Cat was, then Faun when she dropped in to get me out of there." She said as she sighed and opened her eyes, looking directly at Xamthos. She wasn't in the mood to argue with him.

As Raven got in his face, Xamthos's own fury was lashed to a fever pitch. "Do not forget yours, sister. You may be the eldest and I the youngest, but do not presume to be MY superior. At the very start, I said we should keep our swords sheathed. None listened. And now we have been forced to reap what has been sown. Also, when you brought me with to get Kiyoshi back, you could have easily just allowed yourself to return safely with Kiyoshi and I as planned, but instead you chose to be the great martyr, thus forcing the rest of us to come back for a second rescue. Your arrogance and cockiness, Raven, has cost us all dearly. And even if it means I leave and never again call myself Katena, I will not allow you to jeopardize the entire mission again, just so you can flaunt your power...or perhaps, lack thereof."Fighting words they were, meant to cut to the bone and deeper, as he was more or less right. And he meant it too. If she didn't change the way she led them all right to them all being killed, he really would leave and, although he never said so, he knew exactly which side he'd switch to.
