To calrify things: the operating system is formally called GNU/Linux, where Linux is the core of the operating system (the kernal) and GNU is all of the other softare packages that run on it.

Swordmaster Dragon Hmm...If I ever get my old compy up and running, I'm definitely throwing GenToo Linux on there. I'm probably gonna end up asking you for help, then xp I hadn'e even looked at Gentoo before. It appears quite interesting. I looks like it includes many variations and can use either the Linux or freeBSD kernal. From what I found, it's biggest advantage is in the system it uses to install programs. I think I'm going to have to try it now...

Gentoo shouldn't be hard to get, considering it's free...
My roomie showed me how to use emacs to get into the RedHat servers here, so I'm gonna be learning a bit about the Unix environment. But that doesn't mean I won't have other problems anyway...

Felt like bragging, and I figured this would be a good place to do it. whee
So, this past Saturday (17th), my science club participated in Science Olympiad. Let me start by saying this is the first year my school has had a science club, let alone participate in this competition. In one of the events I participated in, the Boomilever (you have to build this thing that attaches to a wall, and on the other end you put a bucket and fill it with sand until it breaks), we got in second place! Hells yes. cool

Hehe, I'm too busy distracting myself with Java and web design to be bored. On the down side, I too should be doing my homework.

Grarg!! Midterms!
Curse my choices to study math and physics. I have midterms in 1 *very* small, highly competitive math class, 1 large highly competitive math class, and 1 large highly competitive physics class. Oh, and history...but I'm PDFing that, so as long as I don't fail the test, I don't care. But grarg! Hopefully starting next semester, at least, I won't be in any more large classes.

Whoot! Spring break! Midterms are over!
At least, I wish I could say that. While it is Spring break, I still have 2 midterms, 3 problem sets, and an entire book to read the week after Spring break. On the plus side, my girlfriend and I are going home to visit the family and give a talk at my old high school (mostly to try to recruit people into coming to Princeton), so I'm probably gonna be way too nervous to think about my other midterms.
