My violin was a gift. Im sure it's cheap, because the person who gave it to me spent more money on himself than he ever would on a gift.
I do love it however, and I know it's handmade in Germany by the slip of paper that came with it.

mine is named Pooh Bear and it's a guy. It's all scratched up but my friend says he likes it a lot.(too bad he dont feel that way about me... smile ) It's a copy of a Stradavarius(spelling error?) and it was made in 2002. I HAVE A NOOB VIOLIN! lol fun stuffs

Kalile Alako I was just curious as to what kind of violin people have; the maker, the year if they know it, and such things. If it has a name/gender I want to know that too. 3nodding For example, my new violin is definitely masculine. Not all violins have a gender, but mine does. Name: Ajan... it's an elvish prefix meaning 'holy,' but that's what stuck. Company: ...the label says Fried. Aug. Glass. fabrikar in Cremona 1736. Age: It's about a hundred years old. Lots older than me. Value: Est. 3,500 - we got it from a private dealer at 1,300 with my old student violin as trade. I'm not exactly sure what brand. I know it's a 'remake' of a Stradivarious, but of the exact brand, I'm not sure. I don't have mine with me at the moment, and being the lazy person that I am, I'm not going to look at the moment. Mine is actually a brand new one, so it doesn't have much a value yet. crying We bought it at a local store for a little over $550.00

well i have 3 violins... my best one is a draiisen edwards. i just went to a violin house really far away and asked for the best one in the house...great, huh?
my second ones a vanetto...cough. its kind of crappy, but nonetheless pretty on my wall... ^.^;; (hey, it makes a great ornament!! especially for violin obsessors like me..)
my third ones an electric violin. its a marcus martini (dontcha just love the brand? xD) and its lovely. its shaped as an s (for my name...heh heh) and its blue with sparkles in it. i found it on ebay for about $650 and its remarkably good for ebay. great tone and sound.

My violin was made in 1855, and it's French. I wish I could ask her of all the places she's been and the owners she had before me, because I've always wanted to know the story behind her, but alas, I cannot. The shoulder is a bit damaged just from being handled over the 150 years, but other than that, it's perfect.

Year: 2001 <-- becca got it in 2001, so that means that becca's had her for 5 years now whee yay!

Year: 1930 <-- becca got this one 1 1/2 years ago from some place in Europe... yay!

~Becca actually has like 3 bows, but the Coda bow ish the only one Becca's really happy to own... xp seriously, one bow's stick is warped (beyond repair) and the other is just really hard to work with...

Age: Not quite sure, but it has a Mirecourt design. Also French. I''d say about early 1900''s or so.
Value: Around $2500 is what we paid for. Not sure what it''s really worth.
Gender: Fey definately speaks feminine.

mines a baby still a Cremona 2002 the modle # is SV-175, i got it for a graduation present cause i havnt played since i was about 10 so it was a shock. She dosen't have a name but it's deffinently a girl. Apperently it's one of the last ones to be made in maple anymore, but i don't know i gotta look that up my self.
I'm hoping to find a beautiful antique some day, hope fully an irish fiddle, then i would die happy biggrin

Made by Frank J. Callier in 1912, in St. Louis. He later moved to San Antonio, and eventually to Hollywood, where he made furniture for moviestars. I LOVE my violin/fiddle {whichever I feel like playing that day}. I think we got it for about 1,200 but my dad's violin teacher recently offered to buy it for 20,000 when my dad took it to his lesson {WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! gRrr}. I'm not selling it.

I don't actually know where mine was made or when. I got it from my aunt who got it from someone, and it was in the attic for years, then I started lessons and had it fixed up a little, it has a beautiful sound, but I don't know where it's from.
