Well, I saw I Love the 70s on VH1 and remember the Sex Pistols by Johnny Rottens flaming red hair, so one day when I went with my family to Downtown Disney, we went into the Virgin Megastore. I saw a Q Music Magazine which ahd a piture of Johnny Rotten on the front and said From Zeppelin to the Pistols. So obviously, but the freak I am, went to pick up the magazine all because the Pistols have Sex in their name. When I bought it I read the whole thing. The article after the Sex Pistols' was about the Clash, and I immediately fell in love with them...Mainly because of Paul Simonon's looks, but I also recognized some of their songs....Yup..That was a long story. cool

yea that was not long
i was in newyork on holiday ((i lived in dublin at the time))and i was skating around and we stopped at cbgb to check it out. i had heard OF the clash at the time but i had never heard them. so we stopped and went in listened to the band that was playing at the time((they were rubbish))so we stepped out for a ciggarette and we went in the alley next to the club to tag our names((we had a bag of supplies and our masks on us already)) and i saw a large characature of the group so i tagged next to it and when i got back to my freinds flat i told him about it and he let me listen to his combat rock cd and ever since them i have loved them ever since
btw pop punk is horrable and so is emo and such if you like it thats fine but it should have a different name...like "dirty yank music" j/k but if you want to have an indepth conversaiton about anarchy or music im the man to pm so please do

Mrs. Pink Eyes I'm not sure if this was made, or not. But truly, how did you get into the Clash? I loved the Sex Pistols at the time, and one day, my math teacher gave me a CD of theirs. I was in love with London Calling along with I fought the Law. (Along with many others) For her birthday, I got her a Clash DVD (ha, I sound like teacher's pet) she told me to burn a copy for myself, then give it to her. So I did. Every since then, I've been a fan. Woot. How about you now, punkers? wink That's hilarious, my teacher last year was the exact same. He didn't get me into the Clash but I remember my mom got me the boxset and I brought it to school and showed him and he was so jealous xp I'm thinking about getting it for him as a going away present. Anyhow, I also got into them through the Sex Pistols and also cause of my dad.

i dont think people should associate the clash with the sex pistols because they are two tottally different bands the sex pistols made strait up punk and the clash added a raggae feel by doing raggae covers and covering politics by disagreeing with them the sex pistols just said ******** them and started the anarchist revival by not disagreeing with them but ignoring them totally the clash made a mockery of the british government

But when your just getting into the scene, like I was, those are 2 of the more popular bands that people tend to get into. But yeah, your right, they aren't alot alike.

We used to talk about music all the time. I'll be sad when he leaves to Austrailia cause even though I'm going into high school I told him I'd stop by once and a while. I remember the time my dad and I had to come in for a teacher/parent interview thing. We went in and he said yada-yada-yada about my grades and such and how I was doing. Then he asked me to leave him and my dad alone. I was worried that I was going to get in s**t for something. Then my dad comes out and there all chummy and laughing and crud. So we say bye and then I ask my dad what they were talking about. He told me they were talking about punk music and what they listened to back in the day and nazi punks. I hadn't even been mentioned eek xp

I always had problems with the nazi punks here in my town. well, the skin heads actually. but I graduated from high school already so if I'm lucky I won't have to deal with them as often.
