SPECIAL EVENT!: Fate

User Image

"Little fools! So that's what you decide, eh? If you think so little of your lives, then I'll be happy to oblige your death-wish."

As the taller fae steps forward, a gust of wind seems to rise from the earth, a cyclone of dust and torn grass flying towards the group of fae children. The air is thick with dry dirt, strangling the breath from one's throat, as the first hint of magic touches the edges of the children's senses.

"Wait a moment, Demios... Wait. Let us review our strategy... I have a better idea."

As abruptly as it had materialized, the magic disappeared and the environment calmed. Again the two adult fae were involved in a silent debate.

When it seemed that a conclusion had been decided, the fae known as Demios suddenly grabbed Absalom and flung him forcefully towards the group, annoyance showing on his twisted features.

"Tonight, Pirces has decided your fate! You were a fool to survive this night, for your suffering in the future will be beyond your capacity for survival. If the curse of our clan does not end you, then the parasite that has been drinking your soul will have its way.

The Elder will hear of your demise, for you remain our weak brethren."

At the conclusion of the speech, the two fae suddenly collapsed to the ground, becoming nothing more than piles of soil and worms...The ground swallowed their forms until the area appeared as if nothing had disturbed it this evening.

They have returned to the inner depths of the forest by magic...

Sai flung her arms tightly around her daughters neck and held her close ignoring the squirms as Kizzy fought to get to Absalom. Having no idea of what could have turned things towards the group's favor for the moment, and having no intention of brooding about it, the young mother pressed her lips against her little girl's forehead.

DS pulled Linnea closer to her as the girl whimpered. Surely this was a difficult situation, but not THAT frightening. Unless the children knew something that they didn't.

She blinked, and then stared. "Wait a second... weren't there two creepy things there a second ago?"

Absalom didn't make a noise as he was thrown forward. His eye rolled wildly as he hit the ground, skin in the palms of his hands rolling up into red scratches. They stung, hot. Everything was disoriented, vision violent enough to make him sick.

He stumbled to his feet anyway.

Absalom's lips settled into a hard line and he touched his hands gingerly. Still stung. A little wet. He'd been...

"Absalom!" Toshihiko cried, voice breaking a little. Absalom felt the man's rough, practiced hands on his shoulders, arms, examining, worried. "Are you alright?" Absalom nodded once, silently, pushing away an embrace. He then quietly completed the longest sentence of his childhood career.

"What does succubus mean?"

After the child had been released and the two creatures seemingly disappeared, Chiaku sprinted forward to where Toshihiko was tending to Absalom. She caught the boy's sentence and frowned deeply.

"Succubus?" she pondered, brow furrowing as troublesome thoughts passed through her mind. "S...Sir Toshihiko, does your son appear injured physically? I'll call Momo here to check his aura, too...I wonder why this occurred..."

Meanwhile, Momo clutched her hands against her chest anxiously. "Linnea," she said, leaning towards the younger girl, "you heard them, didn't you?"

"Heard what?" DS looked around, confused. Children safe, check. Monsters gone, check. Everything seemed okay... shrugging, she sheathed her knife. "Seems we won, hm?"

Replying was a bit too much for the fae girl, who was scared stiff, but she did manage a tiny nod, her eyes still fixed on the place the two fully grown fae had been.

Toshihiko stood, no longer kneeling, and faced Lady Chiaku. He was obviously shaken. "No. No, I think he's fine. Scraped up his hands a little bit, but nothing's broken. ...His...aura, Lady Chiaku?"

"Succubus." Absalom pursued a second time, irritated at having to repeat himself.

Toshihiko hesitated, deciding best how to answer. "A succubus is a female demon that enters into men's dreams and drains energy from them, often leading to death. You...might recognize the word. It comes from the latin, "succubare", to lie under. Their male counterpart is the incubus." A pause. "Where did you hear it?"

Absalom lapsed back into silence, apparently satisfied and not desiring any further conversation. He turned back, around the crowd, then lingered at the edge of the clearing. The procession was slow and careful. His eye insisted on being frustrating.

He waited there, not going any further.

"Ah, his aura," Chiaku repeated, nodding her head thoughtfully. "Momo is still rather young and her magic is undeveloped as a fae, but every fae has the ability to sense another fae's aura. If he's been damaged spiritually, his aura will show indications."

"Momo!" the governess called.

The fae turned her attention from Linnea, waving farewell before running to her master.

"Ummm...Absalom, is it?" Chiaku attempted in a friendly tone as she approached Toshihiko's son. "We would like to do something that might make you feel a little strange...Is it fine with you?"

Absalom faced Chiaku, getting a brief glimpse as his eye touched her...and then flitted away, still upset and panicked over the night's events.

If Absalom was similarily unsettled, he didn't show it. His expression became unwelcoming, frown settling deeper into the corners of his mouth.

"Why?" The sound was brief and flat.

Faevan breathed a sigh of relief as the creatures vanished. She had done all she could to avoid them during the encounter, and now that they were gone, she stepped forward, dropping to her kneed by Shin and wrapping her arms about the boy.

"Shin, are you all right?" She asked, her grey eyes scanning him for any disturbance. He lookedno worse for the wear, and she rested her forhead against him, letting all her fears drain out of her in heavy tears.

Shin looked at his Aunt, feeling the wet trails of her tears as they hit his face.

"Rain..?" He questioned, looking at Dio with wonder. Why was his Aunt crying? "Don't be sad, Auntie Fae Fae." Shin tried to brush her tears away, a small childlike frown on his lips.

"Oh, no SHin. I'm just glad you're safe." She stood up, wiping her cheeks on the sleeve of her coat and sniffling. "What do you say we go home?" Faevan looked at Shin and Dio and smiled a genuine smile for them.

Cordain nods his head slightly and looks around before turning his gaze to Nekura, "Nekura..." he says quietly and smirks faintly.

Nekura blinks a couple times as he looks up at Cordain, a sudden, cold smile overcoming his expression, "...Right...I get it..."

Cordain glances around and nods before he starts back towards the town, "Nekura, understand that this will be taxing on both of us." he states calmly.

"I can take anything you can do Human." Nekura states as he walks alongside Cordain, at some point during everything, the bokken had transfered from Cordain's hand to his.

Cordain's smirk grows, "We'll see Nekura...You'll have to control and channel your temper however."

"That won't be a problem...I like those two grown up fae less then I like you and the other Humans." Nekura responds coldly.

After freeing herself from her smothery mother the determined young Fae rounded on Absalom and stared intently at him. "Hmmm...." She lightly poked his cheek. "Mmmhmm...." She then wiggled one of his wings, and rubbed her chin. "He looks normal ta me," proclaimed the little girl as she nodded with satisfaction.

Kizzy turned, stared directly into Chiaku's eyes and stood her ground firmly. "Ya not gonna do anythin' to him, I won't let ya! He's perfectly fine!"

"Kizzy...sweetie...The mayor wouldn't do anything to harm Absalom," soothed Sai as she pet her daughter's hair.

Cirisse

{{OOC - GAH! I lost the link ... but I found it ... after the RP is basically done. Ah well.}}

Cirisse stood in silence. These older fae ... they were ... were all fae ... She was confused. These older fae were cruel, she hoped not all fae would grow to be like that. But she shook that thought away. No, these fae were kind creatures. They could never grow into such ... gah.

Cirisse still stood silently, but as Absalom was thrown back to his 'father' and the cruel adult fae disappeared, she let go of her breath. Thank god. She felt a wave of relief wash over everyone.

But, what did Lady Chiaku want to check Absalom for? Wait ... she played the last moments through her head. Then understood. She hoped all was going to be well with the young boy ... she also couldn't wait to get to bed. She was tired, hungry and needed a bath.

But ... that could wait for now ...

Momo caught Chiaku's hand and squeezed it tightly as she stared shyly at Absalom. Although she would obediently respond to all of the governess's commands, this young boy seemed particularly unfriendly.

"Well...Well," Chiaku began, looking around at the fae children, who seemed very unsettled and perhaps even hostile from the evening's events. "Perhaps an examination can wait," she said with a smile. "Everyone's tired. Shall we simply call it a night and try to return home safely?"

Despite her seemingly calm composure, her mind was reeling. She was dizzy from all of the activity, and very concerned about the welfare of the children. If she could not take appropriate measures to protect them...

Carol Nawali

Carol whom had been watching in silence sighed. She looked over to the woman who was clearly in charge and nodded she must be the govnerness she thought her words even in her own mind sounding wrong. Perhaps it was from al the stress? She sat herself down on the floor and nodded in agreement. A good nights rest would be good.

Suddenly her eyes felt ten times heavier then they had the previouse secound and she yawned slightly. Then it dawned on her. She was now flat out broke! She ahd spent all her money on objects to please the pixie so she could get clues! Now she was broke! How would she affored a room at the inn!? Panick weld up inside her as she stood with a start. She was on the brink of insanity! She was about ready to run around flailing! Oh she was so doomed!

She felt her heart beat ever so fast, as she relized she had given her last food up to! Oi! Not to mention she had ruined her needle from marking the tree branches! She was out of suppiles and gold! Oh how could she be so dense? She scolded herself over and over and then cought a glimps of a red haired child and looked over. A smile formed on her face, as she then looked over to Shin and his mother whom she had clearly upsetted before. Then over to the dark child who was now safe, and then to Xue-lein. Unfortunatly she did not know the others but smiled seeing them safe none the less.

With a depe heart she laid herself back down on the ground and looked up at the tree tops. What a scene I must make the teen thought to herself. It was true; her outfit had been torn and battered from the escurtion her hair was fizzed out. Her arms had cuts and bruises by moving one to many sharp twigs, and her shoes were all muddy, she sighed.

"It doesnt matter now" she muttered softly aloud and closed her eyes; hoping the other creatures would not come back. Slowly she found it harder and harder to stay awake and then....she let the sleep embrace her. there she was a messed up girl, whom on her first day to a village, the children run off! It must have been a curse! She roled over on her side slightly and let dreams take over ehr mind.
