Tunes got his shots on Friday, but I still got to ride. Tunesey was very good, except for being a little behind my leg. He didn't stop at a single jump! That's a big improvement from my last lesson with Sean. I need to remember my stupid 3-2-1s! I need to buy fly spray, too. I took my blankets home after my ride (under penalty of fee), so it's officially spring at the barn! It's been chilly the past couple of days, though.

Tunes was being a dork yesterday. He kept twisting his neck and not listening very well. I don't know if he needs his teeth floated, or was protesting the heat, or what. My counts were off somewhat, too, especially since we were doing longer counts. I got the right count from 10 the last time, though, even with Tunes' head.

On Friday I found out Tunes took one of his shoes halfway off. We had to take it all the way off and I couldn't ride. We made him pretty, though--pulled hismane and clipped his whiskers.
So yesterday I rode Sandy, one of the police horses. She's smaller and draftier and slower and less responsive than Tunes. She was good, though. We worked a lot on seeing our distances.

Tunes was very good yesterday. He started out kind of testing me and not listening, but then we got better. He didn't twist his head nearly as much. There was one seven stride bending line, then 4 strides to a rail, that we had trouble with. Our last trip, though, we got it. It was a really good lesson. He was very tired when we finished. he got lots of carrots. ^^

Tunes was naughty yesterday from the moment I pulled him out of his stall. He avoided going into the cross ties, and when I took his halter off to bridle him, he walked away. Yes, I had the reins over his neck, but it didn't do much to stop him, and he wouldn't put his head down so I could control him with the bridle.
He wasn't too bad when I was riding. He only twisted his head a little, and occassionally went too slow. I did pretty well, except for jumping the right side--Tunes' favorite--a couple of times, and going off course. gonk I'm very upset about that. We'd been doing a tough turn, and I was used to doing it, so I forgot to go straight.
Tunes was even worse about stopping in the wash stall than usual. It took FOREVER to get him tied.

Tunes was very good yesterday. I didn't get to tack him up because I had to ride early, with Jackie. Tunes was slow a few times in the four two-strides gymnastic, but he was awesome the rest of the time. He got a nice soapy bath (although I'm not sure he appreciated it), and I'm going to give him an apple this morning since I forgot it yesterday.
He was quite annoying on the ground, though. He WOULD NOT stop in the washrack, and when I took him to the cross ties, he kept walking through those, too.

Tunes was lazy on Tuesday. I had to work on a lot of left rein to keep him from jumping to the right. We got a bad distance and he stopped once.
School's almost over! Just the rest of this week and exam review day, then 2 days of exams.

Tunes has been so good the past couple of days! He started off a little lazy, but I got him in front of my leg and he went really well. Yesterday we were jumping a narrow jump with square rails and Tunes stopped halfway over it. His knees were on the jump. He was wonderful the rest of the lesson, though.
3-2-1s!

Yesterday's lesson started off AWFUL. I couldn't hold my two-point or steer. Then I found out it was because I was looking down. I would get nervous about a jump's height, or think Tunes was going to refuse, and look down. So I started not looking down. And I did really well after that! ^-^ Tunes has been so good recently.
He did refuse to stop in the cross ties after the lesson, though. Livia had to push him back. It was strange, 'cause he had been fine about stopping there before the lesson, even without the chain over his nose.
I pretty much won't be able to travel to any shows this summer. My sister's gne for 2 weeks, then I'm gone for 3 or 4 more. There's a schooling show weekend after next, though. I hope we'll do better than last time (4,3,3 out of 4). It looks promising; Tunes has been going so well.

I have discovered the word "horsedork", and that's what I am. ^^ I believe the 'technical' definition is "a girl who still loves horses when most girls have moved on to boys." I suppose it could work for guys, too.
Tunes was LAZY yesterday. I KNOW he wasn't just tired because he was excited and trying to go fast after the lesson. We did pretty well, but he lost a lot of momentum in the turns.
We also did some no-stirrups work. I didn't realize how long it's been since I've done that. gonk I haven't hacked in a while, so I haven't been able to do my own stuff. It was HARD. I really need to practice some more, but my dad's overloading me with lessons since I'll be out of town for most of July. I can't hack if I've got lessons all the time!
I went out Monday, too, to curry him and try to make him shed. He has SO MUCH FUR! I've got a show Sunday (just a little schooling show, but still), so he needs to be all pretty. Oh, and I have to go give him a bath and clean my tack, too. I hope I can find time now that my grandparents are here for a visit. Oh well, I'm sure I can get to it at least by next week.

Yesterday was the show...but I didn't even get to ride. It started POURING a couple of classes before mine. Tunes was all pretty and soft, though. And I got to clean my saddle. I wish I'd gotten to ride, though. That was probably my last chance to show before August.

Tunes was a little slow and difficult yesterday. He kept on losing momentum in the turns. I don't know why, but I always seem to have the most trouble with him when I ride with a certain instructor. Maybe it's a mental thing. *shrug*

So on Saturday I had another group lesson where I was the only one who showed up. It was pretty bad for multiple reasons. One, Tunes was being slow and not really listening to me. Well, I could turn him fine, he just wouldn't listen to my legs. Two, there was another lesson in the ring, and I was jumping courses. I kept doing badly because I was worried about hitting them. There was a third reason, but I forgot it.
I'm having a billion (read: 4) lessons this week. I'm leaving for HollinSummer next Monday, so I won't be able to ride for almost a month.

Tunes was so good today! He did LOOK at the green and yellow the first time we jumped it, though. We didn't do anything too tricky or complicated--no bending lines, even--but Tunes was wonderful. He had plenty of pace, at least when I remembered to ask for it. smile

My last full lesson was so good! This was right after I came back, so I wasn't on the books. I started just warming up in the ring, and Tunes kept twisting his head like he does. Then I get to start jumping, and once Tunes starts going, he's sooo good! So I just need to make him LISTEN sooner.
