Today in my lesson I rode Woodrow. When we were on the flat he wouldn't go fast when I asked him, but when we jumped he wouldn't stop! I worked a lot on sitting back(I usually sit too far forward). I had fun biggrin

There's someone who brings prospective horses to my barn so student riders can ride them throughout the weekend, and we can get them vet-checked. Apparently, I've got a horse to try on Saturday after my usual lesson. whee Yay!

Today Sig exhibited the property of inertia. When he was stopped, he didn't want to go faster, but when we started cantering and jumping, he went fast and didn't want to stop. He's a silly thing.

Saturday I rode Handsome, my FAVORITE lesson horse. He was really good, except that when we started jumping he got too fast and I had to circle him before every jump. Including in the middle of a line. Then we did a bending line and he did it perfectly! I didn't even have to go back to a trot, ht just cantered through, nice and smooth.

Yesterday I rode Handsome again. I was warned that he would be a live wire, but he was really good! He sped up sometimes when jumping towards the barn, but it wasn't hard to get him calmed down. We did a lot of jumping, and unlike the last few times, I got to do everything normally-no different courses with smaller jumps or circling between jumps in a line. It was really fun! I just have to remember to keep my hands up and my shoulders back... stare

Saturday I rode a new lesson horse, Candice. She used to be a barrel racer and still neck reins. She was really good, and when we trotted in to a jump and cantered out, she was so smooth and quiet! But when I asked her to canter, she went too fast and put her nose in the air when I asked her to slow down. She was kind of like Handsome.
I still like Handsome better.

Candice was really good today! She was still fast, but it didn't bother me this time. But after a week without riding, I somehow lost my two-point! I kept diving up her neck instead of pushing my butt back. And I'll have to miss my lesson next week, too, for a stupid school-sponsored college tour I don't want to go on. *sigh*

I rode Candice again yesterday and she was really good. Kinda lazy because of the heat, but I'm okay with that. That was the first time I realized that Candice really isn't trained to jump like the other lesson horses. The first time we went over the vertical, she knocked a pole down. The second time she just brushed it, and the next times she cleared it. But I've never been jumping high enough or on a horse like that to knock a pole before. In other news, I'm going to see a prospective horse later this week. Pics and video: http://www.hunterscourt.com/ Click "For Sale", then scroll down to Star Dust. Tell me what you think! EDIT: Turns out Star Dust and another horse are coming to my barn for me to try! I'm really excited-after 10 months of searching I may finally get my own horse! ^-^

Both horses were really good! Dusty (Star Dust) wouldn't change pace at the walk from being really s_l_o_w, and kept looking around the rail, but was otherwise great!
Daniel, the other horse, was great! He's a lovely golden-red chestnut with interesting leg markings. He has more 'go' than Dusty, and was really responsive. When Livia rode him, he wouldn't do flying changes, but he did for me.
I really like both horses, but I like Daniel better. I hope I can finally get my own horse! *^-^*

Daniel turned out to be lame. crying
Camp didn't really help my riding...if anything, I'll probably be worse! It was an eventing camp, and I ride hunter/jumper, so it was really different. One thing I was planning to work on-keeping my hands up-turned out to be something they yelled at people for. Go figure.
I really wish I had my horse by now. Looking back, I should have got the first horse I looked at-McNally. I just didn't because I assumed that since he was the first horse I was looking at, he couldn't be the right one. I am such an idiot sometimes.

Three horses are coming in on Friday, and they're staying for the week. There's still hope! xd But seriously, I really want some time before school to own a horse so I can kinda adjust. Hopefully, one of these will work out, and I'll finally have a horse of my own!

I rode Scout in my lesson yesterday. He's a paint, in case you were wondering. He was really good! We were practicing seeing the distance to a jump, and I got most of them perfectly!
Apparently, there are 4 horses for me to look at. I'll get to ride them probably Tuesday. Oh weel-I've waited months, I guess I can wait a few more days.
Also, completely randomly, I ordered an iPod from Ebay yesterday.

I tried out two of the prospective horses today.
The chestnut was really good. He kept putting his head to the side, but that's just because he needs his teeth done. I couldn't get him to canter without the crop, but he adjusted his stride perfectly over jumps. My instructor had to keep telling me to have soft hands, but that's all my fault, not his. HIs name was Tune in for Prime Time, aka Tunes.
The other one was a roan called Buddy. I could barely get him to trot until they gave me a crop. When he cantered, he felt really fast. Despite the fact that he's close to 16 hands, he feels like a pony. I liked the other one better.

I rode Tunes again yesterday, and we did better. I really like this horse.
Today my dad watched me ride. I'm still learning how to use my legs and steer him properly, but I did much better. (I didn't cry this time) I even got him to canter on the flat instead of trotting into a jump to make him canter. It will take a while to get used to this horse if I get him, but he's great once I figure out how to get him going.
After I did some jumps and stuff, my trainer, Leslie, got on. My dad was wondering about the way he'd put his head sideways, but he didn't for Leslie. The vet passed him for soundness, but he still needs to be x-rayed.
Also, there's another horse coming in a couple of days, so I'll probably try that one before I decide.
Fast facts: Show Name: Tune in for Prime Time Breed: Appendix QH Age: 7 Gender: Gelding Color: Chestnut Markings: Crescent-shaped star, 3 stockings, white flecks Experience: Has done Level 4 jumpers and 3'3"-3'6" hunters
