The brightness of her smile dazzled him. That she would run with him thrilled him. But that Lucia said she would love to run with him made time stop even ever so briefly in rapt disbelieving wonder. Again he stored her words away, tucking them lovingly into his heart where he could always hear them.
Vana got to his feet with nervous excitement. The good kind. "You would? Terrific! I saw a great flat area perfect for running on our way here, before we landed. C'mon!" Grinning he took off at a lopping gait, pausing to look back at Lucia and smile broadly.

Lucia giggled lightly and watched him run off ahead and she trotted after him, smiling brightly at him still, her tail swirling about behind her, her hair bouncing along her shoulders.

So beautiful... Whatever had her smiling so brightly Vanafindon was grateful. Laughing he tossed his head to clear it and trotted towards a clear area ahead. He paused, glancing down the way he had flown in down a very lightly rolling plain expanse of land nestled between copses of trees & woods & lakes and thing. It stretched out beyond the horizon and looked easy to follow.
Vana beamed at Lucia. "Just run. We can race if you want, but it's about running, right?" You, me, the earth beneath our paws, wind in our faces... and a reason for my heart beating and pounding so fast!

Lucia looked over the place he took her, and her green eyes went wide with wonder, a pleased smile going on her face. She giggled and playfully shoved him, "Race ya!!" she called out. With that, she started off running into the valley, laughing merrily.

The tingling of his shoulder where she had touched, her laugh and the flowing beauty and grace in her stride together knocked the wind out of the male. For a moment he forgot to run until something in his brain registered that she was going away and his legs kicked into gear and chasing after her to keep the female near.
The wind in his face soon brought Vana's thoughts back around and he grinned into the rush of moving muscles, the pounding of the earth beneath his paws... and Lucia.
"Hey! That was cheating!" He called to her jovially. Perhaps... but by the kitsu gods he loved getting to watch her run, whatever the excuse.

Lucia laughed happily when he caught up and said she cheated, "I didn't know there were any rules!! I thought we were just running together!!" she called out to him, smiling at him as she ran along through the grass.

"Race is different than Run!" He bantered playfully, blue eyes sparkling. "Change the game, you change the rules!!"
But he clearly did not care. Perhaps he was only slipping into the playful argument way he & his brother had together. Perhaps he was simply grasping at straws for 'safe' topics that would not give his feelings aways as much.
Then he started playing a game of pulling ahead, letting his tails flip about her shoulders, then pulling back again all by simply shifting his speed.

Lucia laughed loudly as she ran along, trying to increase her speed to run along beside him. This was close to flying, being able to be free, nothing holding them back! And she was running with Vana, which made the time even more special to her. She still didn't understand or want to put into words what he made her feel, like she was truly special to him, that he made her feel cared for and beautiful and that he actually wanted to be...around her!

The sound of her laughter was like the sweetest music. It buoyed Vanafindon, sent the blood pumping to his limbs and he broke away in a rush of motion, propelled by the energy of feelings he dare not think about but could hardly deny. Then feeling the absence of Lucia's presence looked back anxiously then grinned brightly seeing her run before circling back and around her then back to her side once more. Close but not touching save for flying tails and perhaps flopping ears.

Lucia laughed again when Vana sprinted ahead of her and then circled around to run back aside her again. She continued to smile, keeping up the running, not feeling tired quite yet. She was enjoying herself and Vana's company way to much to want to stop.

Instead of overriding his thoughts of her, the running seemed to be heightening them. Of course it was too late to think back on that now, and truthfully... Vanafindon did not mind. Aside from knowing it would make things that much more difficult to conceal.
So what if he was falling for her? She was beautiful & wonderful and fun... she could fly and run and make him feel more wonderful than Vana had ever thought possible.
He simply could not let anyone know.
Glancing sideways he smiled at Lucia warmly. He soaked up her laughter like a tree that did not even know it was thirsty until the rains came. His own laughter bubbled up from him, clear and rolling and free.
Maybe if Maidh found someone... then he could tell her.

She smiled at him and then focussed on running again. She would have to try and do this more often, not when she was chasing after a male that had just done a prank on her. She had to wonder though, was Vana the one for her? She never figured she would be good enough for anyone since she was so light in color. But maybe....just maybe....
Not paying attention, she didn't notice a protruding rock in the ground and she yelped loudly as her front paw connected with it and she went tumbling down in a flurry of fur and feathers.

"He was running fast, unable to stop as he would have liked to at the heart wrenching sound of her yelp. "Lucia!!!"
All four paws scrambled and his wings billowed out as the male tried to both slow & circle back for her at the same time. His heart rivaled with worry in his blue eyes as Vana got to her side. He disregarded that he was not supposed to show his feelings the extent of what they are as he carefully checked her body with his nose, getting as close as he dared with the rest of his body where he might comfort but not make her hurt any more than she might already be.
"Lucia! oh gods, Lucia! Are you all right?" Please tell me you're all right! "What hurts?"

She groaned when she got up, checking herself over. She gingerly put the paw down that hit the rock and she winced a little bit, but the pain wasn't too bad, "I'm fine Vana, I was just careless and not paying attention to what was around me." she said, brushing debris off her fur.

He wanted to believe her... but his growing feelings held in check kind of bubbled forth needing to be reassured. Vana circled Lucia like a cat around someone's ankles, lightly rubbing beside her, when his head got back to hers Vana ducked her head beneath her chin and flattened his ear between his head and her neck as he head-butted the underside of her chin. Even her small wince was too much and he whimpered softly, lowering his head to lick carefully at Lucia's hurt paw.
Bruised? Sprained? Broken? Vanafindon nosed her paw with utmost tenderness to make a call on that. If there was any chance it was broken he was carrying her home, if her wings were still too tired.
