His eyes widened upon coming face to face with Lera, and his heart lifted a little. A blur of brown and the sound of teeth snapping shut. His percious Noke! He whirled, hackles rising and a slight, crazed look in his eyes. A low, throaty growl came forth and he waited, watching. He pressed into Noke a moment, praying that she would do nothing. No harm would come to her. None.

He took a small breath, seeing Lera's reaction to all of that. Thank you.. was all he could think. His eyes widened more though, at Gaara's reaction. Surely he was not that stupid. Kamali stepped foward, obviously he was not leaving yet. A change of mind had happened. He stood beside Lera, knowing perfectly well that it was her fight, but how could he stand by when he'd come to love her like a mother?

She was always there for him, now it was his turn for her. His lip curled in a low snarl. "Gaara.. are you foolish enough to take on four wolves?" He glanced toward Gyani. "Possibly five? You maybe stong, but I do not think you are that strong.." He sneered, eyes narrowed. He didn't look at Haku.

Would he fight his mate? Choosing Gaara over her?

"Don't threaten my son," The alpha snapped at Kamali, tossing his head upwards again, letting out a small snarl. No, he couldn't fight Lera. But that didn't mean he couldn't defend Gaara too. Ganging up on him.. He figured they would be better than that. Surely, the green wolf couldn't be stupid enough to try to take on Haku?

He inwardly tried to block out what Lera and Gaara were doing, he couldn't stand choosing between the two of them. Gaara was trying to get a rise out of her, and he hoped Lera would be better than that. It seemed beyond repair. Even if he defended Lera, she would most likely still be upset at him. Recently, they seemed to be growing apart. He blamed most of it on himself. But he wouldn't allow them to take on Gaara like that. Even if it meant he was alone. These were his lands. For now, he would let Lera and Gaara handle it, and would make sure no one else stepped in.

If Lera got offended, she needed to do it herself. He had faith in her, no matter how upset she could make him. Digging his claws into the ground below him, the dark haired alpha only snarled in Kamali's direction. If a challange was what the male wanted, Haku would be all to happy to accept that. After all of the fighting he that he had done? He was a brute, strength was what he had. He might not have been the brightest, but he had no doubt he was strong.

He couldn't get himself to say something to his mate. They were defending different things.. That made them against each other, didn't it? He would defend Gaara. As Lera would defend Noke and Kamali. His deaf ear would flicker, though, and he turned his gaze to her, just watching her for a moment, part of his heart breaking. He couldn't go against her..

The crow watched in horrified silence. Though there were no voices to be heard from the wolves, angry displays of growling, the raising of their neck-furs, the tightening of their stance, it was all too obvious. Another had come onto the scene- his master's son. A mighty wolf but in hostile territory, and oh so alone, he was a wounded mouse in the open field under the eyes of hungry falcons. More growls, more angry displays. Finally it seemed the wolves had decided that there was no backing down in this- the son made a snap for a wolf, it was then the demonic speaking wolf made a lunge for him, biting into the son. The crow's feathers bristled a bit and his eyes narrowed. An act of war...

His master had recently made peace with his son and daughter- birds of a feather did indeed stay together. It seemed that the kind wolf was taking the wrong side in all thisl His master wouldn't harm the gentle cream wolf, but the one that had harmed his son- she was as good as the crow's next breakfast. Grinning cruely the crow fanned his wings out and gave a loud, angry caw. The crows in nearby trees knew that cry, anger, potential for food soon- blood would be spilt. Turning his head downwards he gave a low cawing hiss towards Lera before launching into the air again. Such a good day had been turned sour. Son's mate would have to know, Daughter first, then master. Yes, Daughter was closer.

Cawing for others to join him as he flew the crow rose up against the sky, leaving the branches of the trees and tearing through the sky towards the lake where Daughter and little ones waited with the two-leggids. "With that bite you've sealed your fate, now hear the ringing of the front plate, Giant Son stands not alone this night, for you will be paid in full for your trecherous bite!"

(( -struggles to catch up- ))
She watched as Gizmo pulled up along side of her. She felt a spark of hope, then as Kamali stood next to her confidence grew. Kamali was right, this was not a winning battle, however she doubted that Gaara and Haku would feel such loss. No, they were emotionless driven by Noke felt as Kamali urged them to leave, she wasn't finished yet but turned her head to see the Alpha Femme. Brain churned to remember her name, Leradien. At first she didn't know what to think, would Leradien be on their side or Haku's?

She then watched as Leradien moved up against Kamali, reassuring him it seemed. Noke then turned her head back to Gaara, the next minute happened quickly, but instinct quickly set in. Ears flattened against her skull, as lips rolled up along her snout. Fangs parted, to emit a loud growl. Gold optics watched as Gaara lunged for her, head lowered to protect her neck and belly lowered to the ground. Right as his fangs clashed before her, right as he moved to take a step back she took the opprotunity.

A bark was forced through her clenched fangs as legs were just about to lunge after Gaara when the Alpha appeared right in front of her. She aborted the attack, and dodged out of Leraien's way. She was angry at first that the alpha took her chance, but then realized that in a sense Leradien was protecting Kamali and Gizmo, who were much like her own children. Ears pulled forward, she turned towards Haku expecting to look into a cold gaze, yet that wasn't what she saw. He was struggling with it all, Noke turned to Kamali. She didn't feel right letting the alpha take on what Noke had started.

[] I cant do all of this during school. I'll be too slow and it'll cause back up. So Gaara's backing off. I dont want the drama right now, either. []

He saw the lunge from the corner of his eye, and snapped back towards her--beginning to see the dangers of taking on three wolves, at the least. Haku wasn't going to protect him from all of his packmates, and his mate for that matter, so he gave a final snarl towards Lera. He wasn't going to die here and leave his mate alone, no. And he registered that he could die here right now if they all ganged up on him.

He eyed each wolf, one by one, entire body bristling in anger. He bared his large fangs, and would roughly shove Lera out of the way of his large body, kicking up his hind leg to try and clip either Mononoke or Kamali in the face with his claws...and break into a fast sprint to get out of the lands. He kept his head and tail high, as if to mock those behind him, to show that he still felt he was higher than them. He gave a passing glance to Haku, narrowing his eyes, and continuing on till he hit the tree line..leaving a light trail of blood on the ground from the blood running off of his face.

Disappearing into the treeline, he kept going, not giving a look back. All of this anger beginning to drain in the thought that he would live to see his mate again that night. If those wolves followed him, then they were screwed as soon as they got within biting distance.

Kamali yelped as Gaara's hind leg cought him in the face, but he was glad it was not Noke. He stumbled a bit, tongue suddenly lolling from his mouth, pained look, panting. This whole thing had gotten him worked up.

And now he could smell his own blood. He cringed a little, it was running right under his eye, where Gaara had managed to get him. He slowly gazed around, whining lowly. Everything was quiet. Finally his gaze locked onto Haku.
PostPosted: Sun Aug 14, 2005 6:47 pm

She watched as Gaara stood there, the scent of blood hung in the air. Slowly reality began to creep up on the lone wolf, Haku wasn't going to assist him. Snarls still rumbled from the depths of her throat. She watched as his gaze slipped over each figure and as he meet up he rushed to knock Leradien out of the way. He was rushing towards her, "That's right b*****d, it's me you want." She growled, right as he bucked at her and Kamali. She jumped aiming her fangs right on his flank, she watched out of the corner of her eye as Gaara made contact with Kamali. Fangs clenched down hoping to taste blood, hoping to know that he would live with a scar.

She stumbled back afterwards, as lungs stretched to catch her breath. She was breathing heavily, anger boiled from her as she watched that mutt scamper off into the wood. She hurt physically for no reason and yet there was no comparison to the eternal cuts that ripped her soul. Orbs just stared after that blood trail, her tail stood still. Although it didn't wave it didn't tuck under her hindquarters either. That was until she looked up to Leradien. The respect she held for the femme was more than any of them could imagine. She lowered her head as her tail winded lower.

A silence began to creep in, she wanted to apologize for it all, but couldn't muster the words together. She saw Kamali's wound and began to lick him before tending to the wound. After cleaning it Noke turned towards Kamali and just dug her head into his green fur coat. She sought comfort that only he could give, she wanted to go more than anything. Thoughts quickly formed all overwhelming, she felt guilty for ruining what was suppose to be a happy time. She spoiled it for Aeria, Gizmo, Leradien, and Kamali.

/WHAM/

Lera's maw instantly sunk to the ground at the forceful blow of Gaara's paw. The counter had been expected, and the tenseness in the muscles of her neck were the only things that save her muzzle from plumiting and colliding witht he hard grown below her. Sharp claws raked the bridge of her nose, cossing scars which already inhabited that area of her face. Yet the Alpha quickly recoiled, her head shooting up once more to face the wolf which held the bloodlust, as he licked her precious blood off of his tainted paws.

It was only a second Lather that kamali began to stand behind her, backing her actions up, but his stance was quickly shot down by Haku. Lera would have shot him a glare, if it wasn't for Gaara in attack mode. It was then Mononoke lungeda second time, jaws clashing with the male's skin. He was now on the retreat, thank God. Yet Lera's golden eyes still burned with a firey rage, livid with anger. She watched as his figure dissapeared into the distance, her chest heaving with every breth.

But it was only after Gaara was out of sight and smell did Lera let out a long hissing breath, like a tire deflating. It was if she had been holding her breath that entire time. Silence oevrtook the scene, not a single sound could be heard except the getily lapping sound of Noke's tongue cleaning the wounds of kamali, who had been clipped in the face. Her chest settled, her heaving breaths turning into calmer ones, yet more shallow. Emotions had begun to overcome her, and the female turned to face the remaining wolves, eyeing each and every one of them with a proud gaze. Yet, this expression was merely artificial and halfway through her eyes drained of their pride, refilled by thickened pools of sorrow. Limbs felt like Jelly beneath the elder as her eyes came to rest on Haku. She regarded the wolf silently, her eyes like ice, filled with a distant expression and even moreso, a sorrowful one. Brows slanted as her eyes became glazed over and pained, staring upon the black and orange wolf. Every wolf had a breaking point in their lives, perhaps Lera had finally met hers. The once invincible wolf now being slowly corroded.

A small snort left him as Gaara took off, then he felt what seemed to be every pair of eyes locking onto him at once. For most wolves, it would be enough to make them run. Haku never liked the idea from running from an issue, he learned the hard way that it wasn't they way things needed to be handled. It hurt for him, though. He felt like the pack broke, and everything slipped through his paws. The glares, to him, felt hateful. Taking a step back, he lowered his head lightly, before turning away.

He wasn't about to say another word to them. Lera was obviously beyond upset at him for defending his son. That damned crow had made a raquet, too. Shaking his head, he moved off. There were quite a few dens, and perhaps what he wanted- nay, what he needed was a safe place.

Part of him began to understand some of the feelings Feanaro felt, and he almost felt guilt for having snapped at the brown wolf. Not that he'd admit that outloud. Once he got a few yards off, a small cave came into view. A snort left his nose and he moved inside it, curling up and dwelling on everything that happened. His family.. Why had he picked Gaara over Kamali? This was not good.

Every thought dwelled in his brain, driving him more and more insane. The pack seemed to be breaking again, just like before. And he had even higher hopes this time. Curling up a bit tighter, the male let out a rough sigh. His heart knew he was much more wounded than any of them, and that the entire thing was his fault. How stupid he had been..

STOP THIS!! His voice rasped loudly from his throat, eyes almost bloodshot with rage. How dare they! How DARE they! This was his home, the place he treasured, the one haven he felt was safe against the dangers. He couldn't raise pups here with his mate. It was unsafe, it was dangerous, Gaara...he had to go, he had to die.

He watched silently, an ever present growl lingering in his throat as he watched that b*****d cower back. He should chase him, tear out his throat, watch as the blood dripped from his neck as he should have when he had been a pup.

He wasn't aware of the trembling of his body of the blood trembling down his jaw from where he had bitten his tongue. Then with his hackles rising he raised his muzzle and yelled at the top of his lungs. I'LL KILL YOU GAARA! Did he mean it? Was it just anger? He didn't know, but at that moment in time he didn't care. That wolf had killed his brother, threatened his friends and family, tainted his brother and threatened his own beautiful unborn pups.

He would pay, and for the first time Gizmo wanted to break free from his pacifist ways.

Then slowly he turned round to regaurd the rest of their group, anger giving way to a terrible heart-crushing grief that caused him to stumble and fall to his stomach on the ground, snubbing his nose against the dirt. Haku... He trusted the wolf so much, and looked up to him as alpha and brother, brother...

Well, there went the idea Gyani had of a happy meeting, with fun. all she culd do now, was wach Gaara retread, at Haku leave the scene. But then, her ears caught a scream, no, two. The she-wold turned quickly to look at the white and brown-ish wolf, Gizmo. All the other wolves seemed to hate, or dislike, Gaara, but for hm to just scream like that, tearing the silence, she felt that perhaps, he had more reasons? Gyani just wanted to blurt out questions, but now was not the moment, now everyone needed rest, even her, that had been a lazy bum, in her mind, to only back away. Still, she was tired, the nervousity she had really poofed her. The last time the wolfess had gotten so nervous, was when her pack turned on her, but this, to her, seemed like more.
She wuld stay quiet, perhaps whisper a goodbye hoping they wuld hear and walk off, but Gyani culd just sit down, and look at everything. Turning her look to Lera, Gyani wanted to ask if she shuld go, return another day, but the female seemed morebusy. So, all she culd do, was look to her paws, and wait.

Kamali flinched a little as his mate's tongue flicked over his minor wound, and he licked back at her face, though in affection. He gave he a slow nuzzle, before moving, gently nuzzling Lera's side, son to mother. That was the feeling of the action.

His eyes shut and his ears wilted at the sound of Gizmo's voice, and he let out a long, shaky breath. They slowly opened, and he glanced back to Gizmo, a tight frown easily apparent on his lips. Fix things. That's what instinct screamed in his mind, and that was what he was going to do.

He turned back to Lera, nipping Noke's cheek affectionatly. "Stay here." He whispered, slowly padding toward Gizmo, he stopped breifly, a pained look in his face. What could he say? He didn't know. He swallowed hard, breifly nuzzling the other males side "I'm.. sorry." Was all he could think to say. His dull, golden orbs swept to Aeria, then breifly to Gyani. He was including them, as well.

He began to pad in the direction Haku had gone, not sure what he'd say. Not sure what he was feeling toward the male. He was upset with Haku, and he knew that part of him would always remember this. But he also thought that Gaara had.. sort of made Haku act differently.

No longer would he ever see Haku as that father figure, and it would take a long time to gain that friendship back. And even if Haku had disrespected him, didn't stand up for him.. Haku was alone now.

No one should have to face guilt and sadness alone.

Another sigh left him and he curled up tighter, ending up being a small little ball in a tiny cave. It was comforting for him. Being alone wasn't all that great, but it was something he could get used to again, like after he'd lost Selia all those years ago. He didn't want their sympathy, and he didn't expect their understanding. Letting out a rough snarl, he lundged his head forward and bit into his tail, mostly just getting fur, but a few drops of blood trickled. Not enough to kill him.

Why he did this? Even the alpha didn't understand. But he knew that he deserved much worse for betraying his family. Letting go of his tail, he'd rest his head back down, hearing a bit of noise from not to far off, but he didn't even move. If he knew it was danger, he would get up and defend himself. At the moment, he wasn't curious to what it could be. Not in the least.
