The pastel colored lioness nodded, grateful for the male pressing so near her. She felt comforted by this, felt that she was safe, and cared for. She nuzzled her head against his, her eyes closed, listening to the sounds of the night. The birds, the insects, the sound of the wind. She loved the night, perhaps more than most, it was the only time the heat managed to die down. She licked a paw idly and sighed. "I pity the intruder..."

Ling stared down his nose at the female. She had a powerful personality, one that could easily get her in trouble. He glared and turned his body away from her. "You have my lands to stay in...You can find shelter at stargazer's rock." He would not allow this apparent wanderer to enter his cave, he did not need anyone growing attached to her. "If you want to help out, I will have you patrol my lands for me durring the daylight hours. It will take some stress off of me and my own..."

With a frown, she nodded, "Just direct me to the rock and I will find my own way there. I'll catch my own breakfast, then patrol in the morning." She rose with a swift movement, keeping narrowed eyes on the king before her. I knew there was a reason I hated them so much...

Nuri purred softly as the female nuzzled him, but he was looking out across the oasis to where the first roar had come from. By now Ling would be confronting the individual, for better or worse. Part of him wanted to be there to help the king, but he needed to watch out for Pastel. Just because it was a pride's land did not mean something could not happen. "I don't... if they have ill intentions I'm sure Ling will know and deal with it. I do not hear the sounds of battle though. There would at least be a warning roar. So, if their intentions are good, we might have some guests, or perhaps new members."

He chuckled "that sounds fun" he said padding out after Nola to the watering hole, when they reached it he saw the birds "ahh.." he said dropping to a crouch ready to leap out and scare the unsispecting birds

Nola grinned and got into a pouncing possition. She nodded to Akira and then flew out into the clearing scaring a few birds with a roar. She chased down the beach a few that stayed foolishly. She looked over her shoulder at him enoying his company.

(( Sorry for the hiatus..unexpected trip this weekend...@_@ ))
Leanna came back into the den. She obviously had left her duties, but dear gods, her stomach was hurting her terribly. There had been movement in there as well as swelling making her stomach unusually large. She had come to the conclusion that she was pregnant...with another male's cubs. Not good for her and not good for her now mate in the desert. She suppressed a sigh and came over to the others. "Evening' ladies. How are things?" She tried to sound as normal as possible settling herself on her haunches. Her belly slightly poked out as she began licking her paws. Her ears went down against her skull as she tried to figure out what to tell them incase they asked. Could she trust them with her secret, or would they tell Ling? Either way she couldn't hide for long...

"I will do more than point you in the direction, I shall lead you there." He Glanced over his shoulder at the female and sighed. More to look out for, more to look after, things did not seem to be on the up and up for him. He waited for the female to follow him before walking in a southeasterly direction. It would not take long for them to reach Stargazer's Rock.

Akira had lightly pinned one to the ground by its tail feathers and was batting at it lightly. he looked over smiling at Nola as she chased the birds for a moment, he wondered if he should let the bird go, but then he realised he had caught something! for the first time.

Laughing, Nola came back closer to Akira and looked at him. "Having fun?" She looked at the bird and then at him. "As fun as catching things are, I would let it go. There is nothing to gain by killing it."

Pastel nodded and agreed the best she could with Nuri. She still wondered what was going on, wondered how long it would take the king to cool down after all of this, but she did not voice it aloud. She was so very tired, but she did not want to sleep. It would be rude to Nuri, and that last thing she was was rude. She forced her eyes open and looked to the stars. "It's a nice night...don't you think...?"

With a sharp frown, she followed him unwillingly, "I could g there ymself," she muttered under her breath, watching the back of the king with eyes full of dislike.

Nuri smiled and followed her gaze skyward. "Yes. I love nighttime..." After a time he looked back down to her and noted again how tired she looked. "You should rest, Pastel. Don't worry, I'll keep a lookout for you."

The king sighed and nodded. "You very well could, but I would be no good king should I let you get lost and wander on your own. Should you get hurt on my land it could reflect badly on myself and my pride, that I won't allow."
The king took off at a slow run as he saw the rock formation in the distance. "Thisi s the way, that large rockformation just ahead." He grinned as he continued to look behind him now and again to see if the female was following him.

Pastel smiled up at Nuri and let out a sigh of relief. "I think...maybe I will..." She closed her eyes and let out a soft content sound, close to a purr as she lay there, trying her best to relax her body. As she drifted to sleep the sounds of crickets and other night things rocked her weary mind into slumber.
