Ray kissed her. "You too. I think they're gone, though. But just in case--" he kissed her again, and hurried to catch up with the other Hufflepuffs.

Desiree lingered there for a moment, to remember the kiss, just in case. She allowed herself to be rounded into her Common Room, and took a seat on the floor near the fireplace, drawing in her knees and staring blankly into the flames.

OOC: Ooh, scary. What should happen now?
Pansy appeared at her Master's feet, soon joined by Crabbe and Goyle. "We...we did not manage to kill the witnesses. McGonagall stopped us, caught us unawares..." Of course, Draco knew this, but Pansy knew that it appeased Draco somewhat to be put under the illusion that everyone was telling him the truth. "But we sent up the new Mark. It looked beautiful. My compliments, my Lord."

"Could you expect any less?" Draco Malfoy's lip curled up in a half snarl, half grin as he looked upon his minions. His cold, murderous silver eyes, which were oddly now tinged with red streaks, in a band right around the pupils, stared down at the three as he ran a long, pale hand through his blonde, nearly white hair. "We will take care of McGonagall soon enough. If old Severus was able to take out that fool Dumbledore, we can easily do away with his right hand woman." He cackled darkly to himself, his eyes shining in the moonlight that streaked through the trees of the Forbidden Forest. How close they were, and yet hidden to all. "Let's go home."

Pansy exhaled, a tinge of relief flowing through her veins. Of course, she loved and worshipped Draco, but it a twinge of fright went through her whenever she had to come face to face with him. "Yes, my Lord."
At two in the morning, the Heads of Houses woke the students. There was to be an emergency meeting in the Great Hall.
"Has anything happened? Has anything been...announced?" Ray only got short, flustered answers, and was directed to proceed to the Great Hall. On the way there, he stopped in front of the Hufflepuff portrait. Just to make sure.

Desiree exited the Ravenclaw Common Room in her pyjamas, a simple black tank top and dark blue flanel pants. She didn't have her slippers on, just socks. As she descended the stairs, she passed by the Hufflepuff portrait, seeing Ray looking rather confused. She approached him and sleepily draped her arms around his neck, resting her head on his chest for a moment. "Do you know what's going on?"
Jess was rather pissed. She had to help the headof Slytherin rile all those stupid little students out of bed and march them up to the Great Hall. She didn't see what all the fuss was about really. So there were a few of those Death Eater things around, not like someone like her was in danger.

Ray shook his head. "Not really. We're all supposed to go the Great Hall. McGonagall wants a meeting. Hey. Wake up. Let's go," he said, smiling and balancing the bridge of his nose on her forehead.
Peter, meanwhile, was still out cold. His hand had turned a nasty, almost charred black, and Madame Pomfrey had actually relatively neglected the other student in the Hospital Wing while tending to Peter.

"It's 3 AM, I'm not waking up for another 6 hours." Still, Desiree lifted her head and gave ray a small kiss before taking his hand and letting them be herded off into the Great Hall.
"Hurry up, you lazy little arses." Jess finally finished scooting the Slytherins out of the dungeons, and was told to wait outside the Great Hall and hurry people inside. She saw the Gryffindors stream by, headed by Professor McGonagall. She kept an eye out for Peter, rather surprised when he didn't pass.

Eventually, the mumbles subsided, and Professor McGonagall, looking more tired than she had ever been before, stepped up on stage. Her words, consise and sharp as ever, sounded weary, and her eyes were almost misty as she spoke. "Last night, three Death Eaters came into the school, as you know." The faintly smoky green Dark Mark still hovered above them. "Jennifer Rowns was killed."

Desiree's eyes went wide. She had Potions with Jennifer, she was very sweet. The poor girl had just been telling her yesterday about how her boyfriend back at home had sent her a new broomstick. She was a Chaser for the Ravenclaw team, and rather good at that. Desiree squeezed Ray's hand tightly feeling a sudden tightness in her chest.
Jess wasn't really as phased. She sat in the back, examining her fingernails and glancing up every now and then to look at the Gryffindor table, expecting Peter to appear.

Ray was feeling the same way. He wasn't really friends with Jennifer, but she was extraordinarily kind, and lent Ray a quill many a time, and helped him with his History of Magic homework sometimes. It was so strange to remember how many ways a stranger touched your life.
"She will be..." McGonagall swallowed. "She will be missed in ways that I cannot and will not try to describe. Her family and friends have been notified. Jennifer's funeral will be held later today, and teachers are instructed to excuse the students listed in my letter. Peter Keyes came close to sharing Jennifer's fate. He is in the hospital wing, for the time being. Madame Pomfrey would like his well wishers to know that Peter will not have visitors until tomorrow.

Jess was a little shocked to know what had occured. Explained why he wasn't around. But she was miffed that he couldn't have visitors yet. She would have jumped up and demanded to know what was wrong, but she didn't honestly care enough to embarass herself.

((no...not really...but she'll probably visit him eventually))
Desiree sat in her seat, unable to make contact with Professor McGonagall until she had finished her lecture about how they were going to have to deal with stricter measures until this whole thing was sorted out and the like. When they were finally released, Desiree didn't even notice, and stayed seated with a blank expression on her face.
