It depends on the time period the art is featuring, but I would think it accurate if shown in a WWII-set image. Complaining about Germany in a proper time period with a nazi symbol is like complaining about Russia in a proper time period and a soviet flag, or things of that nature. It's no different from the iron cross in that it defines the character.

I agree with Kara. It defines the character. Of course now a days he would be ashamed of it, as Germany has made it illegal to have or show such things in Germany. You can go to jail for saying the holocaust didn't happen, too. So people should pay attention to how and when it's used--no matter how good Ludwig looks in a uniform.

As an example of how people feel about showing things in the past, Lithuania's Grutas Park still catches heat for its displaying of Soviet-era statues and recreating such things as the gulag prisons. But in my opinion, if you can walk through old concentration camps as a way to remember, why not Grutas Park? I think it would be fascinating, even if sad. Because people DID go through those things, and getting a glimpse of that would be amazing.

I only bring it up because someone on DeviantArt drew fanart of Germany with the nazi flag behind him. A lot of poeple are commenting how it's offensive and what not, but the artist said it's there because that's the time period of Hetalia.

That's like ignoring that Nazis ever existed, to say that the sight of that is offensive. Just crazy.

=w= Agreed. That's kind of ridiculous. Again, in regards to the time period, it's ACCURATE. It's also kind of like saying a political cartoon or even a TEXTBOOK in the United States cannot show/print the confederate flag for the same reasons.
