Alphonse wavered; it was true that Tamatha was not safe for Mallory or for anyone. Even though he kept a close watch on the boy, Alphonse had to reluctantly admit that almost anywhere else would be inherently safer. He'd wanted to get Mallory out of here himself, but... well, there were reasons he had to stay.

Mallory was startled to hear Lance even say that he' kill himself to save Mallory trouble. What a horrible and unbearable thought! But it had seemed to give his father pause. Taking Alphonse's silence as a good sign, Mallory spoke up. "It isn't as though I will disappear. If things ever settle down, surely we could find each other again." He paused, not sure Lance would approve of what he said next. "Or you could not be stubborn and come to New York also. Must it be impossible for me to have you both?"

Of course Mallory would have no idea why Alphonse insisted on staying. And he had no desire to explain it, really. "I do think I hate you, young man. But all the same. Please look after him where I can not." Alphonse says finally to Lance. He kisses Mallory on the forehead. "I still have things left undone here." He still could not bring himself to stand by and watch as Lance took his son away... and so it was Alphonse who left first, moodily storming through the door.

Lance kept his mouth shut tightly, until he was sure that Alphonse was out of hearing distance. "I think he likes me." He said and smiled. He could not help but joke at such strained times. "Maybe I should date him..." He smirked and pulled Mallory out the door. Carefully he closed it behind them and with a slow but moving pase, he started down the tunnel. His hips swished as he walked and he whistled a light tune, not seeming to have a care in the world.

Mallory was dumbfounded by Lance's odd sense of humor, then finally he just laughed and shook his head. "Well, then I should think I would be horribly jealous. We would have to fight over you in a very macho and manly fashion. I imagine it would get messy." Mallory did worry a little that his father had left so upset, but there seemed to be nothing he could do about it. Ah, well... they'd taken turns being angry and exasperated with each other for years; other than the distance this would not be much different, he imagined.

Lance chuckled. "I'm sure you could take him Mr. Man." He tussled the boy's hair lovingly. "Do you want to catch a plane or a ship?" He wanted to know mostly just to keep up a conversation. He did not want Mallory to have to much time to think about what was happening, for fear the he would change his mind. "It's up to you, I'm good ether way." He shrugged and took the boy's hand back in his own.

"Of course I could. With one arm tied behind my back and other such nonsense." Mallory smiles up at Lance and tries to smooth his hair back down. "I've never been on a ship. I should hate to find out I do not like them while in the middle of such a long trip. Let us take the plane. If they will even let me into the airport like this!" He clucked his tongue disparagingly at his own state.

[sorry I haven't posted in the last week. rl kicking my arse again...]

Lillith's breathing was startign to slow again, her hands going clammy. "Tommy, Dawn..." she said weakly, "I need a doctor... and blood, lots of blood to heal. Otherwise, I can't go, and you two will be in danger... so would one of you please either go get help or go to safety? I don't want to... I don't want to die... not here... not now... but I won't let you two get hurt... or worse... because of me..." she stopped and took one more slow breath. "Find Alphonse, or someone, and get help... please..." she begged with pleading eyes, as she knew that if they all stayed here, she was going to have a very long and painful death. Not something she wanted either one of them to see.

[reposting, since I think it got run over by Lance and Mallory. ;D No worries!]

"Of course," I said, amazed at how strong she was. I looked up at the sky to silently beg forgiveness for what I was about to do. I got up and ran off into the darkness. Hunting had never been a morally easy task, but as long as I knew it would help Lillith it would be worth it. Tom would watch her and make sure she was safe, like any mate would, of course.

Lilith sighs in relief as she looks up at Tommy. "The safe house... it's gone..." she tells him. "I... I had to go there after..." she swallows hard. "After what happenned... at the Blood Moon... My parents... are leaving the city..."

{Dr.Surflue will be written in Indigo ink =)}

I hovered over the woman who had so graciously crashed through the window of my 7th floor apartment. Her eyes were bloodshot and had a wild mad look to them, before closing, that is. Oh the irony. I thought, seeing as a woman who seemed dangerously close to death had just happened to fall into the home of a doctor who had coincedentally just gotten back from the office three minutes ago. I chuckled. No such luck could exist in such a world as this, a world where we live off the fluid of our own kind. Before I could grasp how absolutely fatefull the occurance was, I noticed her blood drenched body and got to work. The smell of the hot red liquid didn't touch my nose, after having worked so long in a hospital. She was completely unconcious, but not dead. I bandaged every wound, inspecting each inch of injury with great curiousity. Suicide? No, a vampire living on this side of the city would not need to jump through windows to cause her death here. I placed her down on the couch and immersed her in thick wool blankets. She would probably be hungry after losing all that blood. I took a carton out of the refridgerator and filled a glass half-way with blood. Being a vampire diseased doctor meant always having it on hand for when the scent got to be too much. I sat down on the rocking chair beside her and fell asleep.

Alexia awoke with a gasp. Here eyes shot open and she sat up quickly, too quickly. She felt dizzy and slowly laid her head back down. Her breath came in quick gasps and she was curious as to why she was not dead. She ran her hands over her body to se that she was covered in gauze and linen strips. Slowly here eyes searched the room and she saw a man sleeping in a chair not to far from her. "Hey!?" Lexi called out to him and tried again to sit up, failing epicly. "Hey? Who are you?" She was beginning to catch her breath and could focus more easily.

{AND the character Tommy will be posted in orange ink}

"I know." I said abruptly. She was in too much pain to be worrying about a burnt down house! "Leave it to you to forget about yourself and put worries and dread in front of everything, Lillith." I sighed. "You do not need to tell me about the safe house, you do not need to tell me anything. I should be the one explaining, dear." I was slightly happy for the fact that she knew almost nothing about the war so far. I was burdened by the knowledge in my head that so many of our enemies yearned for. It almost made me overjoiced knowing that she knew not that this, what she thought to be the war, was but a sequence of raids. The war had not yet even begun and it was already worse than any other in the history of Tamatha. I cradled the girl in my arms and felt terrible about how I knew she would never wish to be seperated from me again. I was what stood between her and safety. Maybe I could save her from it all, I had so much experience and all. But would that be enough? Perhaps it wasn't guilt that got me, but the inevitable fact that with or without me around, Lillith's chances of dying were climbing every second that the war neared. I couldn't watch her die, and I couldn't let her watch me die. But was there a choice?

{Now on to Dawn rolleyes }

I scaled the sides of buildings and searched every inch of the city for someone who didn't look innocent and unworthy of death. Shame weighed down my heavy heart. "Got the job of a murderer when ya live in this city, no way of surpassin' that, uh uh. You girls are either gonna eat or be eaten, and the odds aren't always on your side, no sir. So either toughen up, you little vermon, ur get the hell outta here!" My father's words ate at me. Another line that came out after he had finished the sixth bottle of whisky. I looked down at the silver chain with the little gold heart that layed on my chest and reminded myself that Dusk would be back. She was just getting information to help find Nathaniel, nothing would happen with Asher around her.

Alphonse wandered the tunnels for a while, but there was nothing to see there and the further he went, the more he risked getting lost altogether. Which might even have been an option if there was more to see than pitch black and blank walls. With nothing else to draw his attention, he could only think of Mallory. Had he really made the right decision? What other choice did he have? He'd been rather tempted to bite Lance's face off, but that hardly seemed to be a good way to continue improving his relationship with his son. It had seemed they were making such progress and now the boy was set to run off with the first man who would have him. What would become of his Mallory when Lance grew bored, as all lovers do? Love was such an overrated ideal; utter fantasy and fiction.

Discontent with the solitude of his own thoughts, Alphonse climbs out of the tunnels at next opportunity. He does not even try to get his bearings, but rather just starts to walk. Love was entirely overrated. What had it ever gotten him? Surely, there had been some happiness, but it was barely long enough for him to enjoy it before it was taken away again. That was the nature of the beast; the moment you grew too dependent to live without someone, that someone would walk away. Alphonse frowned and finally decided to have a look at where he had gotten to. Anything to distract from this less than helpful inner monologue.

Lillith's eyes closed slowly and took a very long time in opening again. "Tommy... remember... what we said...? About... after the war...?" she asked, before coughing up blood painfully. "We'd find somewhere.... far from the city... somewhere quiet... and safe... oh, Tommy... how I've missed you..."
