Lily walked out of the common room and towards where the masquerade was taking place. She didn't want James finding her and bugging her all night, so she decided to go against what all the other girls seemed to be doing and leave her hair colour at it's original tone. She had already seen a few other girls with their hair charmed to be red. "At least that'll make it less easy to find me..." she thought. Her pale, slippered feet padded across the floor, making small sounds as the moved along. She was dressed as a sort of gypsy, her skirt full of autumn-coloured layers and her flowing shirt hanging loose, revealing a sliver of her pale midriff. Two large, golden hoops hung on each ear lobe, while smaller studs and hoops filled the rest of the space. Celtic designs weaved their way across the skin on her neck and onto her face, those of which could be seen peeking over the top of her top. Her fiery curls spilled out from underneath a forest-green scarf. Lily's ember green eyes sparkled through a brown bandit's mask as she neared the Great Hall.

Luke sighed as two of his classmates tried to convince him to come to the masquerade ball. "Fine, fine... I'll go if you two will leave me alone," he muttered after hours of being worn down. Luke walked up the stairs to his dorm to change clothes. When he came back to the common room, he was wearing black clothes that shimmered iridescently when looked at from an angle. Large blacked feathered wings rose from between hos shoulder blades. When he had conjured them, he had made sure that they moved when he wanted them to and that they looked as if they were real wings attached to his back. A dark mask covered half of his face, and he quickly cast a spell that would keep it there until he said otherwise. He looked somewhat like a demon... but also something like a bird. Twitching his wings, he walked into the Great Hall alone.

Leah nodded, understanding at once. "She'll be fine, the moon seems full but it isn't until the night after tomorrow. It's close, but we're clear." She whispered in Gwin's ear. As for Nadia's calmness, Leah was as lost for a cause as Gwin was.

"Agreed. Come on, don't be a grouch- Tonight's the night we were hoping to finally get you a girl... Right, Padfoot?" James nudged Sirius, grinning.

Rockelle was hiding behind the corner. She was not used to wearing a dress and felt very out of place. After hearing Lorian she peeked her head around the corner. Her long brown hair was loosely curled and up in pigtails. Her bangs hung neatly on the sides of her face. Like that of Nadia's. "I know he's gone." She sniffed. "I just don't like to . . . er . . . I just don't like to show what I am dressed like until we actually get there that's all." Rockelle was in fact a mere cat. The mask in her hand was a darker tan with a dark brown color around the eyes and she wore matching brown boots, both resembling that of a mere cats' mask and feet. Her dress was sleeveless and the hem went just below her knees. Her gloves were finger less and went above her elbow.
After the seemingly long pause she spoke up. “And he’s not a prefect.”

Nadia was the first to the first to the door. Walking out of the way so her friends could exit she said “Sorry for the long wait. We had a bit of a costume crisis.” Nadia was really happy. She knew the full moon was coming and had placed a happy charm upon herself so she would actually enjoy the masquerade with her friends. And she rather liked it that way.

[Ooc: Rockelle’s dress. Except that it’s a lighter in color and the straps are thicker. Dress.

Remus only groaned louder. Whether it was a joke or not, it wasn't funny in the least.

Padfoot smiled. "Absolutely. She's really something, Moony, the one we've picked out. At least take a look. I think she can read; you'll hit it off just fine."

[Ooc: Who did they pick for Mooney? Or am I just going to have to wait and find out?]

OOC: Oh, no one. They're just teasing him.

[ Unless! : biggrin undun dundundun....:: ]
James grinned. "Come on, Remus. How bad could it be?"

It was 7 o'clock, and the dance had begun. The great hall was filled with people in masks and wonderful costumes. Some couples were dancing to the live band up in front; others chatted by the refreshment tables. Everyone was there, save a few late-comers and party-poopers.

[Aka, skip to where they're there. Just because, lovlies.]

As he gazed upon the dozens of pairs dancing and talking and joking in the Great Hall, Sirius Black realized for the first time the great shortcoming in his plan. Kailyn probably wouldn't be able to tell who he was; that was a given. But it occured to him now that he wasn't able to tell which one of the girls was Kailyn. And that was a problem.

[LOL, Lap. That's funny. @ Amor, 'tis time I think!]
Leah almost tripped for the twelfth time in a row that night; She wasn't used to being so much taller. She smiled at the person next to her. "It's these darn heels, can't get used to them." She apologized, taking another sip of the punch.

James was scouring the crowd for Lily, sure he would recognize her. How could I not? I've studied her for years, I know her walk, her talk, her mannerisms. Where is she?

Kailyn yawned. What a boring party... Can't wait until later when we get a real band. She sighed, and walked out onto the balcony, leaning gracefully against the railing as she gazed at the moon.

Lorian checked her pocket-watch for the umpteenth time that night. She pulled it carefully from her vest pocket, popped it open, and then, with a small peek, snapped it shut, and stuffed it back in her pocket. She was exited. And why not? It's not everyday that you get to do pyrotechnic magic for your best friends' band- Right?
All the while, she was mumbling to herself.
"Stop checking the watch- It's, like, an hour more- Yes, just another hour. .... Of course, it wouldn't hurt to check-"
And so on, and so forth, until someone would walk by, and Lorian would put on her best smile and try to be conversational.
After a few minutes, Lorian set out to find Rockelle, Adina, or Ilana- Whoever she bumped into first.
This turned out to be Adina.
And Lorian nearly screamed when she ran into her.
Adina's sandy-brown hair stood in radical points, all facing upward. A pair of incect-like goggles were perched on her nose, her entire face, her dress, and hair were covered in what appeared to be soot.
"What- You didn't believe me when I said I was going as a Muggle scientist?" Adina laughed at the Muggle-born.
"Er, I did- But I think you got the wrong idea..." Stuttered Lorian, hand over her heart.
"Really?" Adina asked.
Just then, her twin made her appearance- Nagging.
"Adina- I thought I lost you. We've got to be back-stage- I mean, ready in about twenty minutes!" She wrung her hands nervously.
"Plenty of time, sis! Stop being such a worry-wart!" Laughed Adina.
"Oh- Well, that takes care of what I was going to ask..." Lorian shrugged, ready to turn and leave.
"Getting a little trigger-fingered there, are we, Lorian?" Adina chuckled.
"Come on, loosen up, both of you! Let's dance, find Rocky if we can-" and without further ado, dragged the two off to the dance floor.

Gwin kept an eye on Alysson, watching her dance.
She was almost jealous. Almost. Sure, she had gotten offers to dance, but she hung out near the punch table instead of dancing.
She didn't know why, but large crowds always got her- Distracted. She decided. In actuality, she was just uncomforable. Gwin could perform (This is how she saw life) with a small crowd, maybe thirty at the most, but this was the entire school, and she felt completely swallowed.
The Rogue shuddered, making weak come-backs and little snaps when people asked her to dance, or guessed at her identity. She couldn't stand it.

Remus had found himself a comfortable chair near the punch bowl, and was steadily draining the stuff. He had only promised James that he would stay for an hour. 58 minutes wasn't that long. Right?

Sirius had, at first, simply started bumping into people that could be Kailyn. If at first they just glared at him through their masks, he bumped into them again until they let out an involuntary, 'ouch!' Inevitably, he would be disappointed, and trudge on to the next potential Kailyn. He spent more than ten minutes doing this, and finally collapsed against the railing of the balcony, which was for the most part empty. He should have just kept pestering her, or asked one of the Rogues what Kailyn's costume would be. He sighed slightly. Well, this was fruitless.

{{Time for what?? O_o;;; -oblivious-}}

Lily stepped towards the refreshments and got a glass of punch. Sipping it lightly, she stared out over the rim of her cup at the rest of the Great Hall. I wonder where Potter is... looking for me, no doubt. I need to avoid him as well as possible. I don't think he can find me... I hope he can't. Sighing, she gave her empty glass to a wandering house elf who was working as a waiter. She nodded her thanks and shrank back into the shadows where James was least likely to find her.

Luke sat against the wall, looking extremely bored. Thankfully, no one had asked him to dance yet. He was pretty sure he had frightened everyone off with his looks... and for that he was glad. Someone had caught his eye, and he was planning to speak with her... when the time was right, of course.

Nadia was standing next to the window, gazing up at the almost fully developed moon. She wasn’t particularly fond of parties and large crowds but so she would stick to the outskirts of the groups of dancing and mingling people. She turned, head still staring out the window as she walked, feeling the need to have some punch. When she finally turned away from the window her eyes rested not upon the punch bowl but on Remus who was magically diminishing the amount of punch. She stopped dead in her tracks. Had it not been for her mask every one could plainly see she was blushing. Nadia, thankful that her feathery mask concealed her pink rosy cheeks, walked past Remus and the punch without a second glance.

While Nadia was on the outskirts of the crowd, Rockelle meandered deep with in the multitude of dancers and mingling people. Tentatively she examined the costumes speaking to herself all the way. “Oh, look at that one. Love the colors. That one is so soft. Now that’s cool, oh why didn’t I think of that?”

Severus turned a page in his book. He was sitting in the shadows, in the corner behind some drapery, reading. Sure he had been forced into coming, but that didn't mean he had to socialize.

James suddenly grinned. I would recognize that 'into the shadows slide' anywhere! He had only seen it at like, almost every other dance that he and Lily had both gone to. Wiping the grin off his face, he calmly sipped some punch as he planned his approach.

Kailyn cast a glance at the guy who had just come onto the balcony. Come on, be sociable... She urged herself. "What, tired of dancing already? The night is still young!" She teased, in a lighthearted Irish brogue.
