"Yes mam..." Responds Chib, rather unenthusiastically. That wasn't exactly what he was trying to suggest either, but he decided further discussion would be unneccessary. For him, the whole ordeal was rather routine, the only difference being that he now has a rather unexperienced squad leader to keep watch over. Feeling more like an instructor then a squad member, Chib pulls his poncho hood back over his helmet before grabbing his rifle and sliding out of the vehicle, slinging it over his sholder. Keeping his head low, Chib looks back for a moment at York and Keebs before following Fina at a distance, as ordered.

Fina was tempted to go on ahead alone... She usually liked working alone. But these were super mutants, and she was actually supposed to work with the squad and give them orders as she was the squad leader. How troublesome... She guessed she was lucky enough to have another squad leader temporarily assigned to her own squad. If she screwed up, she'd guess he'd call her mistakes, and she'd know better later. Still, she didn't really like making mistakes... Which lead back to why she liked going on alone usually. Interesting little circle.... In either case, she went ahead, and signaled Chib to follow, moving along at a bit of a quick pace, but keeping low along the sides of rocks and ruined buildings and whatnot...

York Freeman

PostPosted: Sat Aug 30, 2008 9:16 pm

York opened the door and alighted from the vehicle, prepared for combat both mentally and physically. He followed Chib, just as Fina had said. Although Fina was inexperienced as a squad leader, York trusted her judgment and knew that the other three squad members could help her out if absolutely necessary.

York stayed side-by-side with Chib as the advanced on the objective. He was excited to fight the super-mutants, but he was a little nervous. York was used to that, though, and the nervousness never bothered him much. He stored that emotion, among others such as fear and sadness, in the back of his mind for the most part in order to stay positive. The adrenaline was pumping through his body now, and he was ready to do some fighting.

Waiting outside the massive gates of the brotherhood's east exit , Twixi stood, with her arms crossed over the chest of her combat armor. Waiting impatiently, for the new group of Initiates to arrive.
Just my luck, to be stuck with a bunch of Rookies on a patrol. Why did it have to be my shift. She thought as she shifted her weight uncomfortably from one leg to the other as she waited, for them to arrive.

Fishing out her radio from her belt, Twixi turned the knob to the right frequency, and stared up at the guard post right above the gate.
"Hey! Where the hell are they?" She asked with a hint of frustration in her voice as she awaited a response from the guard.

Spotting some light movement from the guard as he moved around followed by a light crackle from her radio.
"There on there way now ma'am, you sure must have pissed some one off extraordinarily ma'am. They look really green, fresh out of basic training green." The young squire replied followed by a light chuckle before the radio went dead.

Sighing heavily, Twixi walked up to the side of the gate and waited, as the giant gears slowly started to crank and rumble before the gate slowly opened outwards. As soon as the gates had opened a weathered man in Metal armor stepped through the gates, followed by a small group of Initiates. "That's your baby sitter for the day." The man said pointing at her, and shook his head before walking back in with the gates slowly closing behind him.

As the Initiates looked around in confusion, before scrambling together as there Squad leader shouted at them to form up.
"Vermilion Squad reporting for duty!" The eager young man exclaimed as he saluted her.

Twixi quirked an eyebrow as she inspected the trash that she had been assigned to, the only people who looked like they knew what they where doing, was the squads medic and there squad leader, the rest could barely pass for soldiers.
"I am Junior Paladin Alex, but you can call me Twixi or ma'am. I hope all of you peyad attention in your quick course for surviving in the wastes, as we will be doing a full standard patrol of grid A6, and that's nothing but sand and rocks as far as the eye can see. So you better be prepared, and don't waste your water. You'll need it." She said with a slight grin tugging at the edge of her mouth. "Move out!" She exclaimed as she waved the squad over as she began heading east.

------- 3 Hours Later -------

Arriving at the marked location of there patrol rout, Twixi waved the squad leader over.
"They assign you a pip boy yet?" She asked as she stared out at the massive sand box that spread out before them, as far as the eye could see sand sand and more sand. "Yes ma'am, they gave me one when they promoted me to squad leader." He replied briskly as he removed a banged up old hand-held pip-boy 2000 from his belt. "Good, i'll upload the rout and local map to you now." She said as she began fiddling with her wrist held pip-boy 2000 plus unit, as soon as she was done the mans hand-held gave of a peep as it slowly began to update its map and sonar information about the region.

"Make sure your squad stays on the dotted line until i say where clear, or they will most likely get blown up in the mine field." She said gesturing towards the wooden sign partially covered by sand with a white skull painted on it, with a worn out warning about mines.
The man nodded as he rushed over to his squad followed by a series of muffled whispers and gestures as they all huddled around his pip-boy, only occasionally popping there head up to look out at the wastes.

Fishing her radio out from her belt, Twixi once again fiddled with the knob turning it to the right frequency.
"This is Junior Paladin Twixi, we have arrived at the edge of the mine field at grid A6, over." She spoke into the radio and awaited a response.
"Roger that, do a standard sweep of the mine field and report in." The radio crackled before going silent, hanging the radio back in her belt, Twixi walked up to the group snapped her fingers to get there attention.
"We will be going through the mine field, to check for any intrusion, and to see if any larger number of mines have detonated. In case the local critters have taken up the habit of wandering into the mine fields. So watch your footing." She said as she took the lead followed by the squad leader, and the rest of his jumpy marry bunch following in a straight line one by one.
Huh, there might be some brain cells in this squad after all. Alex thought as she glanced over her shoulder and noted that they where following in each others steps.

After about half an hour of walking in line, zig zagging and weaving and turning, and an incident involving an Initiate falling into a crater, but soon enough they had finally arrived at the end of the mine field without any major incidents occurring.
Fishing her radio out once more, Twixi reported in.
"We've finished our sweep of the mine field, everything seems clear, over." She spoke into the radio, and once again awaiting a response.
"Roger..... We have had some reports of minor activity in the north east quadrant, possibly raiders, proceed and investigate. Assess the situation and advise."

From a distant sand dune Chib stands, watching the squad zigzag before finally deciding upon a direction. Being well versed in wilderness survival, its very unusual for Chib to be seen atop a dune. The perspiration lost in climbing is too much of a waste, compared to the option of skirting around a dune and, if the dune is tall enough, perhaps staying partly in it's shadow. Nonetheless, upon catching sight of the soldiers, Chib decided he needed a better look. Chib, alone, had just wrapped up another trip to a nearby trade outpost to pick up a shipment of his specialty ammunition. The ammunition, having come by way of brahman caravan all the way from the Hub, was for his multipurpose canister rifle that he so very prized. Despite being a mere three hours from the base, Chib decides to shadow the group, perhaps hoping to evaluate the quality of the new recruits. From such a distance he is not able to recognize the combat armored figure, but assumes her just another squad leader. He himself, though possibly visible, has no chances of being identified unless his poncho is recognized... just as he wishes. Slowly slinking back down the dune, he proceeds to follow loosely.

Turning her radio off and latching it back onto her belt, Alex waved the Squad leader over.
"Hey kid." she exclaimed as she waved him over, and grabbed him by the neck and turned him, and pointed north east over a particularly bothersome sand hill blocking there path.

"We got a report of some activity due north east, most likely raiders or some slavers looking for an easy score. But we need to find the quickest way around that!" Alex said hefting her finger at the large almost wave like sand hill, the hill was to steep to climb, and it spread out before them in both directions, hindering them severely.

I.. I-i uh... I'll send two men to scout ahead ma'am." The young soldier replied with a salute before sprinting back over to his squad and hefted his fist at a few of them, before two confused looking Initiates took of in each direction. Maybe i should have told them to cover up... Alex thought as she cooped a hand over her eyes and watch one of them run off.
"Tell the rest of your men to drink there fill and put on there desert gear, looks to be rough weather ahead." Alex exclaimed as she lifted her backpack off and pulled out her face mask and coat.

Chib notices the storm as well... or more correctly, had noticed the storm already, as he had been watching it carefully as he traveled nearer to the base. Chib would be fine. Not only was he equipped with these kinds conditions in mind, but he also had the benefit of much experience, having already judged the storm as relatively tame and easily avoidable. It was the soldiers who seemed to be heading straight for it that he was worried about. Hopefully the CO knew what he was doing, Chib thought, or else those recruits might be in for some serious trouble. Quickly he decides that if necessary, he will intercede.

As soon as the squad had finished resting and finished putting there gear on, one of the Initiates that had gone run of to check returned, badly winded from the fast sprint.
"Th-the... The Sand dune spreads out pretty far ma'am." The initiate blurted out between his attempts to recover his breath.

Okay.. Cover up" Alex said as she stared at the sand dune with a puzzled expression under her mask.
"Better follow the other kid then, it's our best bet if we want to make it before that storm hits us." Alex replied as she pulled her backpack back on and headed of in the direction of the other Initiate that hadn't returned.
The Sl after having helped the Initiate put on his gear, pulled out a green poncho and a pair of goggles, after putting it all on he nodded in agreement as they both took off with the squad following a short distance behind.

"You said we where headed north east correct? To check out a report on possible raider activity right?" The SL asked with a worried expression as he looked at her.
"Yeah.." Alex answered coldly, No foot prints... There should be foot prints. She thought keeping her eyes open for the Initiate as they continued.
"We'll its just.. Well, my squad and i haven't really had any real combat experience.." The SL replied looking rather worried.
"No sweat kid, there raiders, most of them have shittier gear then you do, and half of there guns are in such bad shape that its more likely to kill them then you." Alex said offering him a smirk. "So as long as you do what i say we should all make it back ali-" Alex stopped, and quietly observed the sprawled out remains of the Initiate they had sent out earlier, face down in the sand, with what appeared to be a small metal object sticking out of his back and a series of foot prints leading off towards the storm.
Either we interrupted him or he didn't think we would make it here before the storm blew his tracks clean.. But the initiate.. How did he end up here without leaving any tracks? Alex thought as she slowly reached for her side arm, gently placing her hand on the hilt ready to draw.

"Tell your men to spread out, and some one check and see if he is still alive." Alex spoke softly as she stared off towards the storm that was continually getting closer.
"Y-yes ma'am." The young SL replied as she scampered off to his group followed by a short exchange of words before everyone pulled out there guns and started to act all jumpy. The only one who seemed to keep his calm was the field Medic as he slowly walked up to the Corps and checked for vitals.
"Dead as a door knob." He replied as he grabbed the home made knife and pulled it of his back before grabbing him and trying to turn him over.

-CLICK!-
Was all that could be heard as the Medic pushed the Initiate over revealing the small mine left under his body.

Alex who at the time stood a few feet away staring out over the dunes for any sign of the perp as the Medic turned the corps over, and could hear the faint sound of the Medic gasping, causing her to turn her head towards him just as the mine exploded showering her in his blood as bits and pieces of him rained from the sky.

-Splash, thud and thump- Was all that could be heard as the bloodied mangled bits of flesh hit the ground all around them, as everyone stood in silence staring at the disfigured lower torso of what was left of the Squads medic.

Pulling her face mask off, Alex stared at the blood that had spattered all over her before sighing heavily and whipping the blood of her mask.
"Anyone hurt?" Alex asked as she turned around facing the shocked expressions of the squad as they all continued to stand there gawking.

Walking up to the SL and without thinking, Alex administered a swift slap across his face with her left arm, as her robotic hand collided with his face giving off that distinct sound of flesh pounding against metal as the man got thrown on his a**.
"Snap out of it kid, get your squad together, we cant stay here. We need to get moving before that storm hits us, or we will be stuck here till it passes." Alex said as she grabbed him by the collar and lifted him back up on his feet.

Lucimorth

PostPosted: Mon Dec 08, 2008 7:20 pm

The sound of labored breathing filled his helmet; rubber tubes came out of the front end and extended to the air pack on his back. The dark visor blocked most of the sun rays that blasted the desolate landscape. He was too far away from the base, too far. The heavy material of his Environmental Armor did not make movement any easier, though the design of the armor did make survival a possibility. Each step cracked the dry surface of the wastelands, a tiny cloud of dust rose and fell within minutes. He no longer bothered with stealth or covering his tracks, there was no energy left for that.

A loud pip broke the silence of his journey; his pipboy sounded a signal. Lucimorth raised his arm to look at the device, it signaled some energy readings north or his position. “The Brotherhood is in the same general direction,” he thought “I suppose it is possible that there will be some supplies near the energy reading.”

Lucimorth lowered his arm and kept going. He now had a closer destination, with some minor hope of supplies and possibly shelter. Soon, the charred ruins of a once operational facility appeared on the horizon. There was no roof anywhere, only some lone walls, mostly destroyed. A single door frame stood ominously on the highest area of the facility. It was almost funny.

That’s when he heard a low growl. His arm darted for the trust plasma rifle that was secured to his back, the other hand was a weapon in and of itself, a power fist. He looked around for the source of the growl; at first he could see nothing. And then, not even thirty feet away behind a large boulder was a wild Death Claw. “Great,” he thought, “as if I was not in enough of a predicament.”

Lucimorth swung the plasma rifle, generating some momentum that had allowed him to turn faster towards the beast. He was not sure whether it was a hostile animal or not. A low rumble emanated from the rifle, followed by a high pitched ascending tone that ended in a click. The weapon was armed. Lucimorth did not generally like to kill anything unless he had to. The gun was aimed at the beasts shoulder, enough to neutralize it, he hoped.

He was out of luck, the best launched at him as soon as the rifle was armed, the thirty feet were quickly reduced to fifteen, he had barely enough time to fire off a shot to the beast’s shoulder. A sharp growl echoed all around him, Lucimorth was sure that it could have been heard for miles. The plasma charge hit the Deathclaw in the shoulder but rather than neutralizing it, the beats just became angrier. “s**t.” He did not have enough time for a second shot; all he could do was launch his power fist at the beast’s eye as it swiped at his rib cage. The Environmental Armor provided only partial protection from such a creature, the claws had penetrated the first few layers of the material, nearly getting to his skin. On the other hand, there was no armor on the beast’s eye, his power fist connected well; crushing the bone and liquefying the eye. Lucimorth assumed that some of the bone had damaged the brain as the beast started limping and acting disoriented. There was no longer any chance of neutralizing it, it would not survive anyways. Even in that shape, he failed to dodge one of the swipes and was hit with a heavy clawed paw sending him to the ground with a broken visor and some glass shards inside his face.

“Damn you…” this time the rifle was aimed at the beat’s head. The plasma charge hit the empty socket; the heat of the blast caused a chain reaction that blew up the Deathclaw’s head. The limp carcass fell the ground, blood gushing out of the neck stump.

“What a mess,” he said, standing up. Lucimorth was bleeding, his face was littered with glass

(Continued from BOS Armory in the Base Subforum)

With the pedal to the floor, the APC rumbled through the south gate of the base. On the way out, he looked back through the side mirror at the base standing strong against the wasteland and turned his attention back to view ahead, nothing but a harsh landscape waiting. One he was a ways from the base, out of sight of both eyes and the sensors, he made a sharp turn east, the treads biting into the dust, the engine groaning it's protest as the vehicle headed off into the deep wastelands to the east, the lands out of The Brotherhood's control.

Brutus the Dehumanized

PostPosted: Tue Dec 16, 2008 5:49 pm

Brutus opened the gates of the bunker and strolled out a ways into the wastes, but not far. A good ten minute walk west resulted in a small pool of water with a small cave in a plateau's side. Neither the cave nor the pool of water was very deep, the cave only a couple of body lengths long and the pool only up to his chest. He had talked with Lyanah briefly and asked her to meet him here whenever she could. He was not wearing his armor, just his pants and suspenders. The only weapon he bore was his chainsword strapped to his lower back, his weapon of choice in most fights. Sitting in the mouth of the small cave, over looking the shallow pool of water he waited.

It's been a few days of driving east, no breaks, no slowing down, but finally he was getting exhausted, despite wanting to put as much distance between himself and The Brotherhood as possible. The landscape was completely barren, the wind howling across the deserted plain when he ground to a halt. Switching off the ignition, he pulled himself out of the APC, lowering the ramp as he went to the back. Shoving some crates around, he found the one he needed containing a few automatic turrets, which he unpacked one and placed it outside, activating it. Then he went back inside, hitting the ramp up and turning on an overhead light. After unpacking and devouring a quick meal consisting of a ration packet, he laid down in the center of the large APC and caught whatever sleep he could, trusting in the turret to wake him if anything approached.

Lyanah

PostPosted: Tue Dec 23, 2008 2:52 pm

Lyanah set out into the wastelands a short while away, Brutus had come to her earlier and asked her to meet him at an area not far away from the base, said he had something he had to tell her. Naturally curious as to what her old friend would have to say she set out and arrived shortly at the place brutus had indicated.

"Brutus! There you are!" she grinned spotting him waiting not far away sitting on a large rock.

The first day in pursuit of this no good brotherhood personnel Mark had assumed as night of the first day had rolled around that they would set up camp. Mark had slept in the cab of the Humvee the first night, he was hoping that the person wasn't traveling to far. Upon awakening he had looked at his GPS, his pip-boy showed that the APC had changed direction towards the east, and had created quiet a gap between the two of them. Mark Quickly turned on the engine and began driving at max cruise speed.

The second night Mark had only rested for about six hours before waking up and resuming his pursuit. Chances are there where two or three of them swapping places as driver, it made sense. Though by calculating the current distance between the two vehicles and that he had a higher max speed and cruise speed.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Mark had managed to catch up around the evening of the fifth day. The GPS signal from the APC had stopped and had been for about an hour now. However the odd thing was it was right in the middle of nowhere. Mark had already used a micro fusion cell to recharge the Humvee any more travel and he would eventually get stranded, and the nearest trading town was two days north, and the chances of having old prewar technology that wasn't going to explode on him was slim and rather risky. Mark looked at his GPS once more and was about one mile out from his target, "You bastards, I'm going to kick you so hard your grand kids are going to feel it!" Mark shifted down gears, the setting of the sun distorting the landscape and concealing the turrets placed around the APC, Mark had just pulled into the turrets weapon range.

Ender awoke to gunfire blazing from the turret, hearing bullets whine off of metal. He bolted up and climbed into the driver's seat, switched the ignition over and stomped the gas pedal down, obviously whatever was around had a vehicle or vehicles, so he had to make a quick escape, he wasn't ready for an ambush since he was previously sleeping, the best thing was to save all supplies and retreat, it could even be a group of super mutants ready to tear the APC apart and the bullets whizzing off of metal could be off of their own personal armor since they were quite large. He hated leaving one of the turrets, but it kept spitting out rounds at an extreme rate, meaning the target wasn't destroyed...yet. The APC rolled through the empty landscape, leaving the turret behind, lighting up that area of the plains from the muzzle fire.

*Six hours later*

He felt bad for having to retreat, but safety was his first priority being out on his own, having to conserve his supplies, along with the vehicle itself, especially with being out of the Brotherhood's patrol ranges, which reminded him, since he was an Elder on his own, he no longer belonged technically as a part of this base's area and he should dump the GPS chips on the vehicles he took since he was taking what many considered the "Elder's Long Walk" to bring justice to untamed regions out of The Brotherhood's control, which was a vast part of the old United States, many Elders disappear, a few have returned from such journeys to resupply and go out again. With the respect he commanded and just taking off like he did, someone might come looking for him assuming he was kidnapped or missing and get hurt this far out and where he planned on going, which the East was a savage place to be compared to the middle east and the cleared west. He shifted gears down and put it in park, then got out and crawled underneath both vehicles, tearing off the GPS units on both the APC and Humvee, planting them under a rock, then climbed back in, turning the APC to the Southeast, planning on looping through the old North Carolina, to the old Virginia areas, then up to the New York region.

((Oh yeah, just for reference, I did sign off on the APC and Humvee on the post before yours in the Motor Pool, but put nothing about all the paperwork, just signing my signature on the check out form, should of been a clue on who took them.))
