It's a world where the dog eats the dog Where they kill for the bones in the street And God in His Heaven, He don't interfere,
'Cause He's dead as the stiffs at me feet! I raise my eyes to see the heavens And only the moon looks down The harvest moon shines down!
My name is Zzzyxwe, and welcome to my world, ahaha!!

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Zeezee. She had a loving mother and a doting father, and they lived in a big, white house with a big yard, where Zeezee and Mama’s kirin would play when it was sunny and sit by the window and read story books when it wasn’t. Papa had a job and he made lots of money, so there was money to buy food and toys and clothes, and there were always snacks in the refrigerator where bright fuchsia and orange and lime green letter magnets spelled out simple words.
Papa’s job took him away from home a lot, and Mama got terribly lonely. She would stare out the window and move more slowly when Papa wasn’t at home. But sometimes Bryan would come over, and Mama would smile again, and Zeezee would go to the babysitter’s overnight because Mama and Bryan wanted to talk about grown-up stuff and Zeezee wouldn’t want to hear about all of that, because she’d get terribly bored!
One night when Papa was away on a trip, Bryan came over and Zeezee was sent to the babysitter’s house. The babysitter was watching scary movies, and one of the scary movies was too scary for Zeezee. Zeezee was so scared that that night, she slipped out of her room and out of the babysitter’s house and ran back down the street to her house. She crawled up the rose trellis even though the rose thorns hurt to touch with her paw, and crawled in through the balcony door. She tried very hard not to look down; it was a very long way down, and Mama had put big, hard rocks around the roses to prevent her kirin from digging the dirt around them up.
Mama and Bryan were in bed, hugging and kissing each other with no clothes on. Zeezee hopped onto the bed, and they were very startled, but they hugged her and let her crawl under the covers so that she wouldn’t feel scared anymore. She fell asleep and didn’t wake up until very early in the morning, when she heard shouting. Bryan got out of bed while Mama and Papa shouted at each other a lot. He was home early, Zeezee dimly realized. She was so scared, she hid her head under the covers. Then there was a sound, bam, bam! Mama stopped arguing, and all she could hear was Papa’s panting. She crawled out of the covers to ask Mama what was going on, but Mama wouldn’t answer. She was staring at the ceiling, and there was a big hole in her forehead with pinkish-grey stuff inside and blood splurting from it. Bryan was also looking at the ceiling, and he had blood all around his head, too.
Papa saw her and screamed, yelling and cursing at her. He called her nasty names. There was a wild look in his eye, and even from here she could smell that Papa’s breath was really bad. He was yelling at her and calling Mama bad names, accusing them of doing something bad that Zeezee didn’t understand. He grabbed her by her ears and dragged her into her room, locking her up.
Papa let her out later, but things weren’t the same. He was cleaning up the kitchen later and washing his hands in the sink. He told her to stay out of the backyard. Mama’s kirin was gone, too. Her toys were all taped up in boxes and put in the closet, and Zeezee felt lonely. Papa went to work, and Zeezee had nothing to do but play with the magnets on the fridge.
A week later, Papa brought a new grown-up girl home. She giggled too much, and she smelled funny, and Zeezee didn’t like her. She didn’t think Papa liked her either, because she disappeared a few days later, and Zeezee was told to stay out of the backyard again. A week later, another grown-up girl came. A few days later, she disappeared, too.
Six girls come, six girls go. Papa bring new girl, she gonna die, too. He hide her in backyard with the others, with Mama and Bryan and Pogo. She gonna die, and he gonna die, too!
She played with the magnets, then slipped into her father’s room, hiding under the bed. She was too big to hide down there, but she knew it was worth it. Papa was always too distracted on those nights. When he had stuffed a pillow over the grown-up girl’s face and she had stopped thrashing, Zeezee slipped out from under the bed, grabbed Papa by the collar, and dragged him to the balcony. There she lifted him over the rail and dropped him.
Onto the hard, sharp rocks.
She slipped out of the house, her clothes, her toys, her life left behind. She left the magnets on the fridge, too. She had arranged the ones she hadn’t lost into a single word as nonsense as any thought she had left:
