Alphonse quickly began to realize he was on the wrong side of town. Ah, what difference did it make? The words were said as though there was a 'right' and safe side of town. If that were at all true, he would not currently be without home, proper clothing or his son. He wondered where Mallory was right now. He could find the boy; Mallory was always easy for him to find. But to what avail? To watch him be whisked away, all wide eyed and innocent like a fool? He supposed everyone was a young fool once, but that hardly meant he had to like it.
Alphonse slunk along in shadow, knowing his greatest defense is never to be detected in the first place. So cautious and avoidant is he that he almost does not recognize the familiar blood scent in the air. He knew that blood. It was not Mallory... could it be Lance? Alphonse was not yet certain whether or not he hoped it was when he realized it was not. No, this was definitely someone else.
Alphonse carefully approached a long, narrow alley and was surprised to see Nathaniel sitting there, looking as though he'd been recently dumped. Alphonse took a step forward, then stopped. He could only see Nathaniel, but that did not mean they were alone. He sniffed the air. Not the most appealing of fragrances in this filthy part of the city, but he had no desire to walk into an ambush. If others were still lingering about, he would have to proceed with caution.

Lillith weakly nodded her head, and started shivering from shock again. "Dawn will be here soon...." she whispered, holding onto the last bit of hope she had. "I... I wrote a song... and sang it... at your... funeral..." she told him, her eyes starting to glaze over as if she was staring into the void of Death. "Do... do you want... to hear... it?"

A blurred figure stood a few feet away from me. I pushed myself up and leaned against a brick wall for support. Slowly, I began to make my way over to him or her."Who are you and what do you want?" Nothing in my view made any sense to me. I couldn't figure out where I was; I tried to calculate the time and distance I've traveled but it only made the pain worse. I blinked a few times before the picture started to clear slightly. "Alphonse?" I didn't go on, for my mind could just be tricking me.

((Dae Dae's alt, here)) "Well, if I were not I would certainly say that I am now that you have provided me with a friendly name, would I not, monsieur?" Alphonse looked Nathaniel over and realized the man was in pretty bad shape. He would have to mope later; it was best to get Nathaniel back underground. Not that anyone else would be there; it just seemed a sight safer than remaining here where he was not familiar with the territory. "Come on, then. I think we've had enough of our night on the town." Nathaniel was walking, but not very steadily. Alphonse approached him and actually picked him up, careful to avoid aggravating any injury. And it was in this manner that he began trying to retrace his steps back to the tunnel.

Lance looked in awe as he saw Nathaniel and Alphonse limping their way. He glanced down at Mallory and said. "Looks like we can't leave just yet." He ran to their side, and took a place at the man's side. "Where did you find him? Was Alexia there too?" He asked Al a worried look in his eyes. He feared that his friend was out getting killed for nothing now.

"I'm afraid not. I found this one alone in an alley looking every bit like a sack of garbage someone had thrown out." Alphonse suppressed the swell of anger he felt at seeing Lance. It did no one any good for the two to argue here. Alphonse could not stop his eyes going to Mallory, almost as though it had already been weeks since he'd seen the boy. "I should look for her... once we have Nathaniel below ground." I, he had said. It was the closest he would come to saying that Lance was free to leave. With Mallory. Better than having the boy here, however reluctantly Alphonse would admit it.
Mallory went along quietly, trying to stay out of the way. He kept staring at Nathaniel in horror, though he tried not to. Is this what he could expect to happen to anyone he left behind here? Or worse?

I looked back at Dusk who clung to me gently. I mouthed out the word Lillith and hoped she might understand. The man had his arm around me, his disgusting fingers caressing my lower back. I looked back at her once more and licked my lips to symoblize that he was a snack for someone who needed it.
I winced at her mention of my funeral. "Not now, Lillith. You'll use up the little energy you've got." It was unbelievable how hard she made it to convince myself that I could live without her even for another moment. "Lillith, you must realize that your safety is enough to make me happy any day. I don't need you to write songs about me to know you love me."

I plainly nodded to Dawn, knowing what she meant. I turned back and took back my seat beside Asher. I looked to the men who sat across from us, the one still eying Asher. My face turned a hint of red with anger, maybe even jealousy; though I knew I had nothing to be jealous about. I inched closer to Asher, leaning against his arm with my hands wrapped around his bicep. I smiled as the man gave me a harsh look. There was more I could do to raise his temper but that wouldn't give us the information we needed. "Now that we're all here lets get to business." I whistled, summoning a tall waiter. His hair in dreadlocks that hung over his massive shoulders, and dark bags under his eyes. "Four Dreamy Winters and one Black Margarita." He cocked his brow, probably shocked by my knowledge of liquor.
In no time he returned with the rare drinks; I was almost surprised he knew what I was talking about as well as not asking for ID. I slipped him a twenty before he left. I picked up my glass and licked off the salt that was placed along the rim as well at the lime. Slowly, I took a few small sips until it was empty. I looked over the table seeing that no one had touched theirs yet. A small laugh escape my lips. "It's just hot chocolate, irish cream and rum, not gonna kill you." I tapped my glass against the table until the same man came over and refilled mine as well as leaving a few for when I finish the next one. "So, if you don't mind me asking, where'd you find the owner of that delicious smelling drink?" I glanced towards the man who once held the bloody knife. I made sure not to let them now that I knew the girl personally, that would only give them more of a reason not to reveal the location.
I was shocked of Alphonse's strength and he carried me. Luckily he had not laid a finger on where my pain was coming from. I looked back at poot Mallory. "There's no need to worry boy, just listen to others and try not to make stupid mistakes. That was all will be well." I forced a smile on my face. I could only imagine how pitiful and pathetic I sounded or looked. I was supposed to be their leader. Never should I have left them to defend for themselves, but at least now I knew. I had to protect them the second I felt normal. "Thank you, Alphonse. You're help is much appreciated."

The man was overwhelmingly excited by Dusk's question. He had a look on him like he was trying to impress me. "Some singer I knew a little far back. Found her on the wrong side of town, caught off guard. Probably lying dead on the street by now with that other girl." he said, looking down at my chest once more. I wasn't too much of a drinker, and was surprised to hear Dusk's order. The man who sat gazing at me obviously liked his drinks a bit more...fruity.
I was happy to know that Dusk understood. We walked down the dirty street and finally came across an alley. I loosened my earring so that it would fall into the alley. "Woops," I said, batting my eyelashes, "could you grab that?' My heart beated intensely in my chest. I had never killed a human before. He grinned at how vulnerable and needy I seemed, he had no idea what he was getting himself into. The pictures of laughing children in the wallet of a disloyal man seemed to frown in my memory now, guilt overpowering every last thought I possesed. He bent down to pick up the earring.

Mallory nodded numbly, not certain how to respond to Nathaniel's words.
"He won't be here for much longer, Monsieur." Alphonse informed Nathaniel, allowing himself to sound pleased about it for the first time. With Lance's help, he managed to get the injured man below ground without too much jostling. "Have you seen Alexia? None of us know her location."

Unsure of whether the question was directed towards towards myself I answered anyway. "You were the first recognizable face I've seen since..." My words trailed off, not wanting to recall what had happened. There was plenty of time to explain later.
"What road? That is if you remember. I was hoping to get a taste myself. Just the scent that lingers upon you is tempting enough just to check." I grinned, showing my teeth.

Once back in the comfortable room, Lance got to work with the medic's kit. "Tell me were it hurts." He cooed into the man's ear and slowly started to cut his shirt off of his body to examine his broken flesh. It was not long before his hands were bloodied and he had to get a new rag because the old one was more blood than water. "I'm sorry Mallory I can't leave just yet, " He apologized without even looking up at the boy. Lance was to preoccupied washing and bandaging the broken man lying before him.

"Please, I am not worried about that now. I can see that he needs help. Is there anything I can do?" Mallory steps closer to where Lance is tending to Nathaniel, but stops before reaching them and holds his breath. The blood made him feel a little lightheaded, but he had dealt with worse.
"Stay with your Lance; I am going to look for the others. Alexia, Lillith and those two younger girls, they have all been missing for some time. Your friend Franky as well, though he seems capable of taking care of himself." Alphonse is not terribly fond of running aimlessly through the city, but one more look at Nathaniel's state convinced him to go. He would hate to see any of those young ladies harmed.

I looked up as the one man tended to my wounds, wincing every now and then. Still the sharp pain from the back of my head stood out from the rest. I reached my hand back but found nothing but a small incision that was now stitched back up. "Lance," I believed his name was, "there are stitches in the back of my head. Did you put those there?" I didn't remember him touching me there or going anywhere near my face at all... I watched Alphonse wander back off, probably to find the others. The others. Dusk! I sprang up and away from Lance and was suddenly at Alphonse's side. "I have to go with you." I knew my idea was far fetched since the shape I was in, but I needed to go...though they probably wouldn't let me.

Alphonse raised both eyebrows high toward his hairline. "I am in no mood to babysit you while you entertain your death wish. Zut Alors, you've gone entirely mad." He gave Nathaniel a light shove back toward the cot he had been on. "Lie down and take your medicine like a good boy. This is no time for foolish, macho bravado. You do not know where they are any more than I do, oui? So then you are useless to me." Alphonse knew he was being harsh, but it tended to be the best way to quickly and effectively shatter the stubborn resolve of another.
