on the 'Air to Make things less heavy' discussion, you'd likely end up making wider than average swings since your little wind current would have to follow it everywhere.

In the case of the air, I'd be swinging a six foot hammer with a large head on the end, accuracy is going to be the least of my issues. I don't know, I'm feeling the hammer is going to get in the way if I don't have a good way to wield it.

MASS is a constant value for an object. Even in a gravityless environment, objects have inertia because of their mass.

WEIGHT is the result of the force of gravity acting on an object. Gravity is just a force, and nothing more, so it can be opposed by other forces. There's no reason why a 500 pound rock couldn't have 450 pounds of updraft applied to it and then be lifted by someone at the apparent weight of only 50 pounds except for the fact that air doesn't naturally work like that. Then again, this is magic we're talking about, so there's no reason why we have to be concerned with how it works in nature. Of course, 450 pounds of air directed at the underside of a carried object is going to have other significant consequences that may severely reduce the utility of doing so unless the control over the air also extends to how it flows after striking the object as well. Which I suppose it could, since it is maaagic and all.
