Ishod, pleased with the small victory, spat at the man's feet when he walked away.

Then he turned, knife in hand, and smiled, "Charmed my dear, I'm Ishod, and I'd like to take you up on that offer." He looked down at her arm and frowned, "Pretty rough eh?" try what he might, the low hint of the growl in his voice didn't retreat until he had sat down.

"So is that how they treat women here, even fae?" he asked slyly, seeing if she liked him knowing or not.

Somewhat relieved when the tension left the room as the men departed, Varin merely blinked an eye at the girl who’d caused the disruption, then went back to mulling over his own thoughts. Hearing someone call him “cutie” again snapped him back to reality and Varin turned back to the lovely barmaid, smiling as he took the mug from her despite how it made his lips sting. He nodded his thanks to her and, feeling particularly generous tonight, pulled out a few more coins from his pouch to hand to her as a tip.

Once she’d taken the money, Varin reached again into one of his pouches, although this time he pulled out a small metal tube. The man stuck it between his lips, blew through it to clean it out, then stuck it into his ale, using the straw to slurp the amber-colored liquid. The taste was a relief to him, and now that things in the bar seemed relatively peaceful, Varin was happy he’d decided to stop by for a drink; it was proving to be relaxing.

Kyrana's smile faded for a moment and then returned.

"It is truly that obvious?" She asked softly, then shook her head, still smiling. "Well, you wouldn't be the first to see through the guise." She took a sip of the red wine she'd bought before the men's ruckus. She studied Ishod for a moment. "You must be rather unfamiliar with...us...to be so unconcerned." She signaled for one of the barmaids to bring Ishod another drink.

"Haha...It's nothing like that, I normally don't do dealings with fae folk...I've heard too many stories and seen too many things to tell me that your territories are best left undisturbed, had I known you were a fae before the man grabbed you I probably wouldn't have interjected at all..."

He shrugged his shoulders and smiled, "But what can I say, it's in my nature to do well, and sometimes it's in my nature to do evil, even though you're obviously powerful enough to deal with them on your own, I doubt that you'd want your cover blown, to top that, I now see why humans fall for fae folk as often as they do, you're very..." he searched his brain, "pleasing, to the eye."

Dorothy smiled at him as she took the tip. She moved back towards the bar peeking over her shoulder at the guy against the walk, well at least calling this one cutie wasn't hard. He is super cute. Dorothy started to blush and she hurried to the bar to help with drinks.

Kyrana smiled. "Well, thank you for that....carefully worded praise." She chuckled softly and took another sip of her wine then gave a sigh. "You are wise not to deal with my kind. However, I regret to say that it will be a bit harder now." She paused a moment before continuing. "In return for your aid, I am in your debt." She gave a small smile. "I am beholden to you until I can repay the favor." Kyrana took another sip of her wine and looked at Ishod with an unreadable expression.

"Well that's simple, a small feat such as that can be matched within the hour!" Ishod said, not really liking the taste of having someone bound to him, he was used to having objects (like the dagger he hasn't yet banished) bound to him, but people were a whole other story.

"It truly depends though, on how obligated you are, and how much of a feat you think will repay me, because though I saw nothing to it, you may see more, your perspective my dear?" he turned his head to her and smiled, almost sadly, an adventure was very nearly tossed upon him, and he was too nervous to accept it, the fae folk he heard tales of did terrrible things to men and women alike, and he wasn't exactly sure if he wanted to sift the myths.

In a moment's hesitation, however, he decided that it would teach him something, and he'd be going back on his words if he did not, though the choice still rested with her what it was he was to do with her.

Kyrana looked at Ishod a moment, noting his sad smile and the look in his eyes. She frowned slightly, going over the Seelie Court rules in her head. Ishod was right. She hadn't been in all that much danger, really. But he had done her a service in not making her break her disguise to scare off the men. She paused, wondering if any of the men had been mages. Had she been in any danger? She could best three human fighters easily, but when you mixed magic in things got a bit more complex. But before she could say anything, Pylo scampered down her arm to the countertop. The little brown mouse sat up on his haunches and looked at the fae and at the man with his eerily knowing black eyes.

"What on earth are you thinking, Kyrana?" Pylo scolded her. "You know how things go, and you have seen what happens when They are disobeyed." Kyrana sighed, and Pylo turned his attention to Ishod.

"It is not her rule that binds her to you until the debt is paid, human. Nor is it her interpretation that controls it." He tells Ishod, saying it loud enough for the pair of them to hear only. "She cannot tell you this, but the fairy Courts require that all services and debts be repaid." He gave Kyrana a reproachful look. "To disobey them is dangrous and foolhardy. No matter what sway you hold over Puck--" Kyrana glared and reached forward with inhuman speed to snatch the mouse and stuff him, protesting, in her purse.

"Stay out of it, Pylo." She hissed to the mouse, glancing around to make sure the barmaid hadn't noticed. She hadn't. Kyrana turned to Ishod with an apologetic smile.

"Sorry. He's...really into fine details." She glared at her purse. "I was about to say that you're probably right. I don't think I was in any real danger. I think can grant you a Boon--a favor--and call it even."

Ishod's smile grew with the mouse, the last time he had heard talking animals he was drinking the cactus water in the desert, the rest of the fantasy, for the sake of time and rating, will not be described.

"My, he is an energetic little guy isn't he?" pointing at the purse. "Listen, I don't know how your rules work, and it'd probably be a real good idea to learn them if I'm going to be here for some time...after all I'm positive the jungle is swarming with your types..." he drummed his fingers on the bar, thinking, "I suppose I could 'let you off' for a two part favour..."

"You teach me a bit about fairy culture, so I can easily...avoid the traps, and then you give me something to do, I've been itching to do something exciting ever since I got on the ship that brought me here, and I don't care if it is in service to you or whatever, just give me something exciting..."

He was serious, he feared that if boredom clouded his mind as it did most men he'd become lethargic and lose his reasoning, which is completely true of course, but he wasn't wordly skilled enough to express it differently.

Kyrana hesitated a moment.

"There are only certain things that I can tell you." She said carefully. "It's complicated." She paused. "It will depend on what you want to know." She took another sip of her wine, finishing it. She motioned for the barmaid to bring her more. "As for some type of quest or objective...I'm afraid I can't really help you much there. I'll keep my ears open and see what I can find out for you, if you wish."

"Pfft...the first ones I meet are never any fun in any city..." he said, sighing and drinking his drink, "You're telling me, that you've come here and you've nothing to do that would require any aid?" he looked at her disbelievingly. "Well I suppose not from a human, we're not that great..." he reasoned.

"Alright, well...I'll have to think on it, but I can ask you questions a bit later, after all, no need to rush." HE enjoyed having her in his company, very few women he met were beautiful enough for him to keep around them, and even those weren't quite...right.

Dorothy hurried to the bar and filled a new glass with wine. She handed the glass over the bar taking the empty glass.

Kyrana smiled at Ishod. "I was born here, remember? I was coming home for a time before heading out again. I wasn't exactly looking for heroes..." She smiled at the barmaid and handed her some coins for the wine.

"Nah, I don't want to be a hero, I'm just...I don't know." Ishod didn't often analyze himself, "I figure everyone needs help somewhee along the line, but it takes me forever to find them." he started thinking some more, "I'm very adventurous..." He sipped his ale.

Kyrana smiled.

"True. We all do need a hand now and again don't we?" She said quietly, taking another sip of her wine.

Her mind wandered back years, to the last time she'd been sitting in Rinon with a stranger. It had been a different tavern then, and she had been younger, but the echoes still played in her head of their own accord.

"You don't need any help, do you?" The man leaned forward, his auburn hair falling in his eyes. He hated it when that happened, but he was so intent on Kyrana he didn't even seem to care. Kyrana smiled sadly, knowing that a mere human would be trampled in the Court. She needed the backup, but she had broken the rules for him. And he would not meet a friendly fate for it.

"No. I will be fine." She said with another smile. "Don't worry about me."
Worry about yourself. She thought. The Unseelie Court was never lenient, but she was confident she would be spared. He, on the other hand... Kyrana looked up into the tawny brown eyes that had always intrigued her so much. She hadn't thought love was supposed to hurt this much. He smiled at her uncertainly.

"Well, if you're sure..." He trailed off. Kyrana forced another smile.
"I'm sure."

Kyrana blinked and was confused for a moment to see Ishod's grey eyes looking back at her. She shook her head and forced another smile, taking a slightly deeper drink of her wine.

Bronwyn woke up with a groan, feeling like she'd been hit with a 2 X 4 repeatedly. She sat up stiffly and walked to the dresser to splash herself with the cool water in the basin there. She looked at her dripping visage in the rusty mirror and winced. Thick purple bruises roped her neck and collarbone, and blood had dried in clumps in her hair. She limped stiffly to the washroom and took a quick bath to get the majority of the grime and blood off.

She toweled off and dug in her pack for a spare set of clothes and changed. She tried to find some way to hide the bruises on her neck, and eventually settled with the realization that they were going to show no matter what she did. With a sigh she headed downstairs and saw Dorothy handing a glass of wine to a well-dressed woman talking to an adventurer.

Bronwyn limped to sit at the bar a little way away from the chattering pair and nodded to Dorothy, trying not to wince. Every movement of her head sent slivers of pain down her body. She leaned on the countertop with a relieved sigh. She had no idea things were so unstable in the Guilds, but she was going to have a serious chat with the leaders very soon.
