((No problem Kio, I'm not in a huge rush. I was just wondering what happened and if you were ok. *sniff* lol and Kai I'll be sure to learn to ask questions better.))
Rem snorted in derision. "The only thing that's different is that they're not actively desiring to kill us, well you guys, at the moment." Rem shook her head. "So I guess that collar around your neck isn't as bad dealing with that irritating..." Words failed her, she couldn't find the right adjective to describe how utterly and completely detestable she found Damien to be. So she grunted as she clenched and unclenched her fists. "Thing they sent to keep us on track?" She wasn't being sarcastic, she wasn't mad at Kai, she wasn't meaning to be a jerk, she was really curious. That and she was pretty sure that being around Kai at this point wasn't all that good of an idea. Even if everyone else was in the clear, she was still on the black list, and who knew what they could do to her friend with that collar around her neck. No as soon as Tamnir and Rick finished fighting Rem would go back to earth with her son. There was no reason to compact Kai's stress and haul every one else into her own drama.

Aergan cocked his head at Kai. "You are taking s**t from Heaven? That's unexpected. Who are you and what the ******** have you done with Kai?" Incredulity saturated his voice. There was no way this was Kai.

Jack hesitated and got the strange urge to show her, thinking maybe it would impress her, "yeah, of course, no I could show you." Just then Aregan said his comment and Jack had shock and embarrasment climb up his spine and into his head where it froze his whole body, he did not really feel like he could stand and just about fell off his seat, he opened up his mouth to speak to Aregan but failed, then tried again, but to no avail. Jack then realized that Aregan could read his thoughts sending more shock up his spine then got very angry, he thought as loud as he could, screaming as loud as he could without actually screaming AREGAN YOU ARE SUCH AN a**!!!!

((Well, now he kinda got internet but it keeps hiccup-ing. sweatdrop ))
Now Kai let a threatening glare hit both her friends. Not only with irritation from Aergan but by looking at Rem's reaction to her explanation she knew she was either blaming herself for something now or something that will happen later. She was more mad at herself than anyone else. Kio made the place so that people would come and stay here and she was not going to let anything, not even her stupid decisions, ruin that. Goddammit, she should have kept her mouth shut.
"Look, I made a deal with them to do a few side-jobs here and there. In return, they don't mess with the Arena nor the inhabitants." Her voice continued to rise a little more after each sentence and contained more force. "So all of you can come, go, and do as you wish and they won't blow this place up. The collar is just a precaution to make sure I don't go against the contract. Lord knows... its not like I have a spotless record that could give my word credibility."
She snapped her head forward, fixing her eyes to the fight so that they would see the reknewed shame on her face. Not only from her memories, of the hundreds of villages she laid to waste, but of what she was about to admit.
"And yes I did become submissive to them. I hated it with every fiber but I had no choice. Let's face it, there were too many close calls with Damion. And he was just a rebellious p***k with a few half-assed henchmen. The Councel didn't even send him. Could you imagine the devistation if we actually DID have Heaven riding up our asses?"
She paused to let the last bit sink into their minds. She then continued in an almost whispered voice. Her eyes lowered to stare at the floor.
".....I made a promise. This was the only way I could ensure it was kept... Its really not so bad. It could have been worse."

Aergan cocked his head for a moment. He sat on Rem's shoulder for a bit, thinking. He then made up his mind. He gave a little smug feather ruffle in Jack's direction, then took off of Rem's shoulder and landed on Kai's. He leaned against her cheek, in a sort of apologetic way.

Rem grunted a mumbled "The Council isn't Heaven, they're more like the fallen." Stubbornly before sighing and moving to quickly take Kai's hand in hers. She squeezed it for a moment then let go. If it was the last thing she did she'd get God, or she herself, to wipe out the damned Council. Things like that were never any good, she had the experience to prove it. "Sorry for taking my frustrations out on you." Rem said softly to Kai. "You know I only get this way because I care."
A cold tingle rand up her spine and she straightened her back almost painfully. Damn She cursed silently. That was way too fast.

Zaira got a triumphant grin as Jack accepted to duel her later but it was soon replaced by confusion and shock at Aergan's comment "Eh?" Was all she had to say to him, she was giving him the attention needed to keep it looking like she was paying attention.
She was far more interested in what Kai was saying, for, what kind of ninja would she be if she couldn't do simple recon.
If angels really were interested in the removal of this place then that spelled bad news for everyone in it.

Kai flinched at the sympathetic attention she was getting. It made her feel... uncomfortable. Though she did not want to seem rude. Kai awkwardly scratched Aergan's feathery head with her fingertips and gave Rem a light squeeze with her hand. "Erm... like I said. It could be worse. Honestly, they could have broken the contract with that episode at the gas station."
She gave Rem a weird look at the sudden jerking movement. "Ok. What was that?"

Jack realized that something else had happened as the converation he was still listening to had shifted to unease. All his shock and embarassment left him, he was on his feet and walked over to the group of three, his sences had him alert to everything and everyone, he didnt want him or his friends dying for some stupid council's prefrence. He didnt say a word afraid that they might of wanted to butt him out

Rem let go of Kai's hand and smiled winningly. "Oh I was just thinking about how much things change us." She said casually, waving the hand that had just squeezed Kai's as if waving away her worry. "Nothing big." Okay that was a lie, a lie straight through her teeth. "But Kai... what are the rules about the arena? Is there like requirements for who comes in, you know a coat tie type thing?" If they did have something stupid like that she was going to rip out all their shiny little throats.

"Hah... haha.... hahahahahahaha!!"
Kai tried to contain her laughter at Rem's "coat-tie" comment. It amused her greatly at imagining of the men occupants in suave top hats and tuxes while the ladies were in frilly Victorians. Her whole body doubled over and shook from her fit.
"No... haha... nothing like that. God forbid... haha.." she finally looked up at them with a grin. "We just can't impact, plot, or bring interference or harm into the lives of humans. We can mingle, but as a human. And we can't be dragging normal humans here or exposing ourselves. Oh! And we can't help the demons. We're pretty much neutral unless the Counsel asks for our assistance, and in that case: they'll be coming to me. So there's nothing you all have to worry about."

Kakairo looked over at Jack. It was then she realized they, the humans, were in more peril and fear than they were. At least their after-life sentence was taken care of. They WERE the afterlife. Though the fates of the humans still had to be decided, and the Fates never have a straight forward path.
"...yes. But not only you would die. Every inhabitant here would be in peril and the Arena would be destroyed. Though... if it were a mistake, the punishment might be less. Only my life would probably be taken because, technically, you're my responsibility."
Kai shrugged. She didn't even bother explaining that just because he was sentenced to enternal damnation didn't mean he would be rotting in lava, fire, and ash for all eternity. He could end up like she used to be, a wandering demon. Though that's if he was lucky enough to be seen as a tool of promising potential for Lucifer's army. Kairo shook her head. She got side-tracked easily these days.
"Anyways... they could also just seek to punish you. And in that case..." she gave him a wide grin and hooked her arm loosely around Rem's neck. She would have done the same with Aergan if he weren't a raven at the moment. "Do you really think we would leave you stranded with no back-up? We look after each other, remember?"

Zaira was wondering around in the arena, looking up and sideways as she moved, like she was surveying the area. She walked in between the two combatants then looked straigh up and put a thumb between her and the abyss above, then squatted down and drew an X into the dirt. Straightening back out she glanced at the two boys "That X had better be there when I get back." she said as she walked off and kicked a wall that revealed a little passageway and went inside, the door closing behind her.

Rem smiled at Kai's laughter and nodded thoughtfully. She chose not to say anything about Kai's possible death do to one of their blunders. It wouldn't do any good. Rem smiled at Jack warmly. "As long as you don't blow up any more gas stations." She teased.
A voice rang through her head, deep and rich, gentle and yet devoid of emotion. Iverem She tensed suddenly and bit her lip. Her nails bit into her palms and even Zaira's antics with the 'x' marking a spot only helped them unclench a fraction. Too close. Not good. Shaking her head she tried to regain her usual air but she knew it wouldn't work. Her reaction had been too obvious. Even Tamnir, who was absorbed in a match caught it, she could feel a wave of his anxiety before he refocused. Verdammt!
