Heret gave a soft chukle. "I used to be decent at it. My brother was always the better tracker though. He found it to be fun and he enjoyed the challenge." His ears twisted as he listened to the others speak. "Perhaps we too should head out?"

Joy. Rook had earnestly hoped that Bane would be too apathetic or antisocial to want to join the growing scouting party... But he wasn't about to let his annoyance show, or withdraw his support over a minor matter, so he dipped his head curtly to the other Herla joining. "Best not to send too many -- the whole purpose of scouting is to move quickly and quietly, and too many Herla make that difficult." Shrugging, he stayed where he was, but one hoof scratched at the ground idly. "Wherever I'd be of most use, I'll gladly go."

He hadn't heard the fortune-teller approach him until she spoke... Her words and her laugh were obviously meant to unnerve him, but he refused to let himself rise to the bait. "We'll deal with it. Whatever we run into."

He forced confidence into his voice, reaching around to lightly touch Iris' shoulder in a reassuring gesture, seeing that the pearl was anxious. "Some of us are leaving soon, I think."

Lumi looked uncertainly at the group of people that had already joined the scouting party. She listened to them intently as they all talked of how the group was becoming a bit to big, to be honest she liked large groups, it made it harder to form bonds with people when you didn't have to talk to them one on one. But she did have to agree with Rook when he said that too many could ruin the whole point of scouting. She debated with herself in her mind, and a slightly anxious look crossed over her face. She sighed, hating to have to choose, she looked around and noticed that more of the outspoken Herla were deciding to go ahead first, and she wondered what the higher ranking officials were going to do... would they stay behind? or would they go on ahead? Surely Rolan would go ahead in the scouting party, that only made sense.... as the argument played out in her head she felt her hoof clicking at the ground, she looked down in amazement, she hadn't had that nervous reaction since she was a fawn. Feeling defeated and slumping her shoulders slightly she sighed and said "Maybe we should stay behind... to pick up anything that the scouting party might have missed?" Her voice was filled with audible doubt and she curse herself for that.

Tristam, from his place at the back of the glen, pawed the ground nervously. He was staying away from the crowd and he wasn't allowed to go. As Heir, he wasn't supposed to put himself in danger, since there were currently no others that could be heirs if he met with misfortune. He'd like to solve this mystery, but it just wasn't going to happen.

He sighed and settled in the soft grass and moss, and felt the comforting presence of both his Guardians nearby. Odelia and Patmos stayed near him much of the time, but he knew they were excited about this. He tossed his antlers to clear his melancholy mood, but it settled quite stubbornly on his shoulders. He put his head down and watched his cousin and Rolan organize the group of volunteers. Mostly he watched Rolan and felt like a foolish youngling.

"I dunno about staying behind," Makaio offered to Lumi when he saw her tapping her hoof on the floor like an anxious fawn. He moved a bit closer to her in an attempt to offer some form of comfort, giving her neck an almost playful nudge when he reached his head out to sniff at her. He nodded to the others once he was at their side.

"But we can trail behind them for a little bit. They can send a call back if they see anything, and we can call up if we see something too." He glanced back at Rolan for a second, then took a step closer to Lumi. "I don't think we need to be that worried, though," he assured her. "I don't think what we're dealing with here is a major threat. Just something that needs to be fixed...you know?"

Lumi gave a small smile and nodded her head in a thankful manner for the reassurance. She extended her neck slightly and looked around a the rest of the Herla once more before saying in a low tone. "I know that there shouldn't be much danger, what with the truth of safety in numbers, but to be honest, I honestly just cant make up my mind about what to do, stay behind or go ahead." She laughed lightly. "and besides, I'm afraid I'm not very good at tracking, I'd get lost the instant we started off if it were up to me."

((Lawl, I knew that Bane would get on the other Herla's nerves xD))

"Who's coming with me ahead?" Bane asked, filled with boredom. He'd rather get this stupid search over with so he could get back to his own journey.

His ears twitched softly at the reassuring touch, to which he stood idle. Everyone seemed anxious to get going as Iris felt. He didn't speak and remained quiet while the others continued to organize the party. Though he did feel perhaps it was best to leave a few behind in case whatever they were scouting for came back. Usually something like that would come back to make sure it had everything it was taking, right? He only pouted softly to himself remaining silent.

Makaio's ears turned towards Bane before he let out a low huff. "Oh, stop acting like you're the Guardian's gift to Herla everywhere," he said almost patronizingly to Bane, cutting him a glare that mirrored a parent eyeing their stubborn child. He tilted his head slightly as he chuckled.

"But you could always go first," he offered, suddenly cordial and polite. "That way, whatever we'll tracking will eat you first. It seems to like feet. Maybe it'll start with your ankles and work its way up." His laugh was hardly boisterous, but the amusement in his tone showed as clear as crystal. He leaned over to whisper into Lumi's ear. "Stay behind. If you go ahead, you might catch his snarky. Highly contagious."

"Oh, all of you with your experience, off blazing a trail," Benholz said with another slightly unpleasant laugh. In her day, the doe had seen combat of her own, but in honesty, she wanted no part in any combat were it to come. Half-closing her eyes, she listened in on Makaio and almost laughed at his sarcasm towards Bane. Certainly these young bucks jostling was nothing new, but it might prove to be a distraction.

"In your future there is nothing but blood, Wolfbane" she said, pitching her voice low but keeping it airy, more a warning than an attempt to disturb him. "Change your ways now and perhaps it can be avoided."

Lumi tried to hold in the laughter that bubbled up. For one, it wasn't polite to laugh at other peopls expenses, and for two, it wasn't classy to laugh loudly and boisterously (if those aren't the same). She managed to contain the giggle fit that threatened to overtake her, but unfortunately, her frame gave way to shaking as she laughed inwardly, a wide smile on her face. Lumi turned and look at the Male Herla, smile still intact and her mood all the more lighter for it. "Oh no, musn't catch that, it may spread."

((ok... so while in the shower i had an idea... maybe it's a fox? foxes are sneaky! If so, maybe the fox's name is Swiper, and therefore this whole mess can be fixed by simply shouting "SWIPER NO SWIPING!"))

((OH NOES! THE DRAMA D: ))

Wolfbane growled slightly, once again wishing that Flower Girl Gwen was there. She would have been able to handle the crowd a lot better than he would be able to. He only flicked his ear, brushing their comments, ever the fortune teller's, off. He had already had quite a bit of bad luck in his life; a little more couldn't possibly hurt. He turned around and headed towards the prints, inspecting them and then beginning to head the direction they were pointed.

"Fine then. I'll go first, since you all are to scared or busy making threats to do so yourselves." Bane snarled before turning his head back around. He shouldn't have stayed. In fact, it was Gwen that had persuaded him to go in the first place.

"Oh, don't be so scared, pansy. How hard could stockings be to find?" Gwen had snorted at him, yellow eyes blazing.

Too bad the mountain Herla had listened to the Delta female. He still felt insecure when she called him her nickname for him; Pansy.

"Ah, not a threat, not a threat," Benholz cackled, weaving her head from side to side and laughing softly at the overreaction she got from the buck. "Benholz doesn't make threats...simply relays what she sees. And that's what she saw. Your future looks grim and filled with confrontation. Death is inevitable." And she tossed her head, throwing back her antlers the same way a stag might do in a breeding fight.

That said, she turned from the conversation and slunk toward the pale prince, suddenly realizing that her Guardian wasn't as absent as she had thought. So Alonso the Great had returned from wherever it is that ghosts went...but for now, he wasn't talking. Which was just fine, because she wasn't listening.

"Excellent. I'll be able to see my mother, sister, and possibly my father. Good, good." Bane said happily with a roll of his eyes.

"Death is always inevitable though." Bane said, suddenly serious and dropping his voice. He shrugged, then turned away from the fortune teller.

((LOL TEH DRAMA))

...okay, so the buck wasn't making himself popular with his attitude. It still didn't mean he deserved sarcasm and dire warnings. Rook's ears tilted to an indecisive posture, as he was torn between emotions, none of which he permitted to fully show.

...still, he knew what it was to be alone in a crowd.

That was when his Guardian decided to make herself heard. Anyone watching would have noted the turquoise eyes glass over briefly, as if listening to something that no one else could hear, then a brief, almost imperceptible nod, heavy with resignation. Without another word, Rook carefully edged his way around the prints, not so much as brushing one with a hoof, then lengthened his stride to catch up with Wolfbane. He took up a place at the buck's side, slightly behind him, but within his peripheral vision.
