Ark waved his cash away. She had already handed the cashier her debit card and he was swiping it. As she entered her pin, the cashier asked for her shoe size. Without any hesitation Ark gave it to him and turned to look at Markirus expectantly.
She couldn't stop looking over at the lanes. The light stopped as you reached the stairs leading to the lanes. The black lights and various other colored lights were flashing and made the place look interesting.

Markirus placed his money away, he guessed that Ark didn't like being payed for. He walked over to the desk and told him his shoe size, after his shoes were handed to him, he sat by the steps to the alley and beggan to put his shoes on.
"So, which alley are we on?"

Ark sat down on the stairs next to Markirus, not caring if it caused to the stairs to be blocked. No one was coming or going at the moment and she could move if someone did.
Once her shoes were kicked off, she looked down at the receipt which had all the pertinent information printed on it. "Um.. looks like lane four," or was that the price of... No, that was the lane. Ark finished slipping her own shoes and made her way over to the lane.

"Alright!"
Markirus jumped to his feet and jogged on the stop slightly, both in anticipation and to test out the fit, he then quickly made his way to the lane to check out the bowling balls.

Ark grinned at his seemingly excited state. She looked down at the big computer that they were supposed to use enter their names for the game. It was a little daunting and she hoped Markirus knew how to use the thing.
Determined to have nothing to do with the machine, Ark turned to look for a distraction. There were rows of bowling balls on a couple of racks behind her and she rushed over to look at them and test out their weights. She glanced over her shoulder at Markirus, "Hey, do you know what weight you need?"

Markirus looked up, walking over to the console to input both their names, he had some experience with gadgets and electronical bits and bobs.
"Don't worry! I'll find one for me in a moment. Now, what name would you like me to put you up as?"
He stepped round and placed his hands on the keypad, ready to type their names in.

"Ark is good actually. It's always better to only enter a three letter name on those stupid machine. THe computers at work are so much more user friendly," she shot a tiny sneer at the computer she was avoiding. When they were actually bowling, she'd make him do anything involving scores that wasn't already calculated.
For the moment, she picked a ball that seemed a perfect weight to her. She also secretly liked the blue swirled with the light gray, but she wouldn't admit that to anyone. Bowling was a sport; pretty colors had nothing to do with it.

Markirus smiled slightly and beggan punching in the names.
"Alrighty then, Ark, and..."
As the words appeared on the screen he grinned with pride as his name showed up as the word, "Champ", he always enjoyed such silly jokes. He looked around and found a suitable ball, one with a red coating and black stripes. The weight just abit more than he would like but that didn't matter, this was just for fun after all.
"May you do the honors?"
He pulled an over dramatic bow and gestured towards the alley.

Ark grimaced a little before stepping forward. She wasn't at all sure that she wanted to be the first to go. It had been ages since she'd last played.
Deciding it was best to take the bull by the horns so to speak, and jump in head first. She was mixing metaphors, but that didn't seem to matter as she faced down the alleyway.
Taking the ball firmly in hand, she made sure she didn't step on to the slick part and lined herself up. Her roll wasn't fantastic, but it could have been much worse. She knocked down two pins on the far right.

Markirus watched carfully at her technique, although this was a friendly match, he couldn't help but study her movements and see what he could use. After seeing her bowl, he clapped gentily as he had sat on the chairs lined up at the sides behind the computer panel, the ball resting on his lap.
"Not bad. Not bad at all."

{Sorry to take so long.. Life has been crazy.}
She shot a grimace over her shoulder. It wasn't aimed at him, but at her own lack of skill, "Are you kidding? That was practically a gutter ball. I feel so stupid."
And now she was babbling and he was probably going to think she was disrespecting him or something. "Idiot," she berated herself mentally.
Meanwhile, the pins had been cleaned up and set back down. She lined herself up for the next roll. This one went the same place as the last one and she didn't manage to knock anything over.

Markirus pulled a friendly smile. Noticing a hint that Ark was upset. He stood up and walked over towards the lane.
"It's not your fault, maybe your just abit out of practise."
He checked the lane, just to see if there was something wrong with it. Of course he probably would not find anything, he knew he wasn't an expert at such things. Once his pins were set up, Markirus lined himself up ready and prepared to bowel, he adjusted his angel slightly just to make it abit more interesting. As he bowled, the ball went slightly wide to the left and knocked down two pins. He turned and smiled.
"Looks like I'm still abit out of practise as well."

Ark felt immediately better. She wondered if she were taking joy in other peoples' failures. It didn't seem that way, but she knew herself to be vindictive when it came to people she had problems with. And everyone knew she and Markirus didn't get along.
However, this actually struck her as more funny than something to make fun of. In an odd twist of circumstance, they'd both knocked over two pins in their first roll. It was a brief sign of camaraderie for her.
"Maybe, but I bet your next roll will be better," she said without even a hint of malice or ill wishing.

Markirus let out a small laugh and scratched the back of his head.
"Same to you. It just takes a little time to get back into it I guess."
He turned and faced the pins for his second bowl, letting the ball blits down the alley, but also slipping in the process. With a great clatter, the bowl knocked down three more pins on the right side.

"See, look at that! You got - like - half the pins or something," she had to check the screen to see if this was an accurate statement; although she'd been fairly certain there were ten pins, it was nice to know for sure.
She hefted the ball in her hands again and stepped up to take his place at the lane. Her next roll went exactly the same place as the last two.
Ark turned to Markirus with her mouth gaping, "How... what... ?"
