She hadn't been TRYING to wake him up -- it was simply that if HE was stuck in one place, so was she. SHE'D BEEN TRYING TO GET COMFORTABLE DAMMIT. But if he was up, she'd just purr and kiss his cheek like a good semi-psuedo-spousal figure. "Good morning~" she purred, peering at the finished breakfast before standing to go and... retrieve (again) two plates of it because she was a glutton for punishment... but she was smart enough to keep her bad shoulder's movement limited to the elbow down.
Which meant the offering of the other plate was done with her good arm.
Although..
"It feels like it's too hot out to start off the day with anything brewed..." Aster commented, stabbing at her plate with her fork.
Jade nodded calmly. "Oh, that's why we just have iced varieties of the same~ Really, one can't be TOO prepared for such a situation." he chirrped, more than prepared with the cold-servings of... well, it was mostly a chai, actually. Just the perfect in-between to buy in this case.
Kinda tea, kinda coffee, and relatively inexpensive in comparison to buying a little of everything. Didn't require flavoring either~
"But I think once we're all fed, we'll get headed out."
Kanda groaned again, stirring a bit more, before wincing at the pain in his limbs.
God. Dammit.
Obviously it wasn't a state of being he was ENJOYING either, hissing when he finally cracked open his eyes just to get a FACEFULLOFSUNLIGHTfjdskalfhadsf;lsdkf. Baaaah!
Hiiiiiissssss! Dammit, he was supposed to get up BEFORE the sun did!
HE FAILED, SO HARD. :C
Either way, however...
"Nnngh...So I assume that means all parties need to eat?" he asked, looking to Shae and frowning like he felt FULL OF PATHETIC. But eh.. at least this would get him sleeping properly before another one of his disastrous fevers.

"... Morning," was the dull, dry, clearly not so thrilled with being up (getting a move on might've been paramount, but oh, god, his head was throbbing worse than ever) response to her little greeting, but Yossarian could still at least humor her that much. He didn't really like the sight of her seeming to overuse that arm, either, but just muttered a thank you and took his plate without complaint.
If he was suspicious about the horrible hands of Jade touching that food, he didn't even comment on it, just lamely stabbed into the eggs with his fork and swallowed a bite down.
As expected, it was dry too-- but... adequate enough. Taste was pretty irrelevent; it all just had the afternotes of sand in his mouth.
"Iced?..." Although how anyone could've managed to keep something COLD in the hot desert was beyond him at first, until Hanna shrugged and commented.
"Well, that's the magic of ultiga crystals," she mused softly, "... utilized right, anyway." And of course that was the cue for her to take a sip of her newly retrieved glass, smile growing a bit. "Clever ingenuity is so nice-- and I believe so, Mister Kanda," she added at the tail end. "Here you are."
She'd passed note one, but two plates (with mugs balanced skilfully on them) over to Shae right then, fully aware that the latter female would have to take them out of courtesy, and sure enough, she did.
Also as predicted, Shae had given Kanda his first, then proceeded to just sort of... stare at her own, sigh wearily over something, and picked quietly at her plate. At least she knew that they all needed to eat, regardless of hunger (or feeling less than hot, for lack of any better pun), and was willing to enforce the rule on herself without a fuss.
It was already getting hot out, after all, and they needed to eat, pack up and get a move-on as soon as possible to... wherever they were going.
They'd just have to pray that there were no more 'attacks' along the way, lest some of them really wind up dropping dead or losing limbs.

Well there wasn't much she could do with just one arm either, but at least she was nice enough to quietly settle in so she could STOP using her bad arm to eat her breakfast.
Dryish, yes, but it was food... and the chai was a WELCOME addition, taking one of the cups offered by Jade with her good arm to sip it. MMM, SIPSIPSIP. MADE HER THROAT FEEL SO NICE. Though she did have to ponder how things were going to....
"So are we going to pass through Zanadu with less problems than last night?" she inquired, looking to Jade (and giving Yossarian a glance. WOULD HE KNOW?) and seeming rather.. bothered.
Nnngh.
Jade, pausing mid bite, just shrugged lightly. "Well, it all depends on the situation. We should be able to pass through relatively undisturbed..."
Then again, there would also be the problem of Kanda. Hmm, how would they get their newly made gimp along while he was healing? Certainly the suggestion of ..ohhhh...LEAVING him somewhere wouldn't have gone over very well.
Alas.
"Though I do think Fabio will be pleased with his new baggage.."
Kanda frowned at Jade's implication, while stabbing at his breakfast, taking a few bites before setting his fork down and sipping at the iced drink. It was certainly nicer than all of the DAMNED HEAT.
"Well that sounds like I'll be relatively useless.." he grumbled, taking another bite of hash before looking to Shae and frowning even more. "Guess I'll have to rely on you to be my arms for a while." he mumbled, rather displeased by the concept, but also only willing to rely on HER for his gimpiness.

Eating, drinking, eating and drinking... What a terribly mundane yet woeful journey this was turning out to be. Perhaps if Yossarian had been more of his usual self and less victimized by a great gaping headache, he would've found the thought of Kanda playing frail baggage entertaining-- but now? Now it was all just mundane water under the bridge.
How dreadful.
"So long as we get where we're required to go," was all he said, surprisingly succinct, and proceeded to work on finishing his breakfast.
"Oh... yes, Sir." Shae wasn't about to deny playing the 'arms' of the resident luggage, either; hell, she knew better than ANYONE the suffering it must have caused Kanda to even ask in the first place, and she was just thankful (quietly, secretly) to be of some use to him, rather than being the... well, the burden he probably felt he'd become.
Funny, how strange and ironic these circumstances were-- but anyway, the meal continued and finished fairly swiftly after that, followed up by a quick deconstruction of the campsite by those with able bodies. Migraine or not, Yossarian was quick to take up the majority of the heavy luggage, being the only real "able" body left around who could handle it without complaining about his old joints. Shae and Hanna were the ones who shouldered the lighter bags after that, each carrying what they could on their backs (which wasn't a terrible lot, but at least it was something) and piling the rest on Fabio... before the former got to help a certain gimping invalid up on the saddle, too.
The poor guy; he'd certainly be looking less dignified than in their last venture to Zanadu (though carting around a dying little 'boy' couldn't have helped his image much either)...
As for her, she'd just walk quietly with everyone else, no complaints to be had. Tired? Sure. Sore and bruised? Of course. Queasy and heart-all-aflutter from the sure anxiety of where they were going? Oh, definitely!
She just knew how to keep her mouth shut.
... And Yossarian would have his hand on his hilt the whole damn WALK. Just.. why on earth were they going up INTO that cesspool of criminal deviousness, anyway-- and with a horse, no less?! He could only pray that damnable Fabio had sure feet for the steep, craggy, ungodly NARROW path up...

And Aster, having a good sense of (developing) self-preservation had almost GLUED herself to Yossarian's free not-toting-a-sword side when the encampment known as Zanadu Plateau came into sight. Oh hell.
Yeah, staying by her SAFE THING, HI ILUPLZTOBEOFKEEPINGMEALIVELONGERMAYBE?
By the time they'd even SPOTTED the tents, none the less gotten close to them, her tail was puffed up to twice it's normal size and she was leering at things suspiciously. Ohhh man how she was hating the atmosphere and.. hell.. EVERYTHING.. about the place. Nooooooo!
There were SOOO many tents...
and people..
and tents.. and jdflaksjdf......EVERYTHINGLOOKEDSOSUSPICIOUSSOBBBBBBBBBB.
Kanda, who by right had a LOT more to worry about than Aster did, frowned at the panicking butterfur. "I'm the better target here.." he grumbled, patting Fabio on the side of the neck with his good arm (Sob riding all daintily like a girl... :C He wanted his limbs to work again), and looking over the group with a sort of leer.
Did he recognize anybody..
did he recognize anybody.. ... Oh hell...
"I think we should get through this district fast.."
Jade looked to Kanda curiously -- as though amused by the fact that Kanda SEEMED to have been to the plateau before, but not commenting on that immediate fact. Instead....
"Something bothering you?"
"Ever pissed off a Cannibal before?"
Jade chuckled a bit. "Yes, why?"
"Would you want to see them after that?"
POINT MADE. But Jade still didn't seem to be worried at all.

As could only be expected of such a treacherous place, just making it up to the plateau in one piece was staggeringly difficult-- both literally and figuratively-- for the quartet-plus-company. The rocky path up was winding, miserably steep, and so narrow that they almost scraped Fabio on the flanks... when said path had both 'sides' intact, anyway, and wasn't some god-awful drop-off.
Walking side by side had proved a rather tight squeeze for Yossarian, but truthfully, he would've rather suffered that and known Aster was within a 'safe' distance of him than the alternative. He might've not had the same experience here as Shae and Kanda, but the fur was already standing up on his neck regardless of that, and he could feel the air grow inexplicably thicker with every step up.
Speaking of the more seasoned party members, Shae, too, was feeling a very familiar, and yet eerily foreign tension the closer they got, her breath growing shallower and hands beginning to tremble so slightly that she didn't even notice it at first.
Their final arrival was greeted by familiar staring, and then uncaring nonchalance... but it didn't put her at ease in the slightest.
And then came that guy.
She'd never seen him before, and he didn't even seem like that much of a standout at first... but following Kanda's line of sight had led her right to him and, inexplicably, she felt her heart skip a beat.
"Oh, old acquaintance?" Hanna had of course perked up at the new conversation (walking seemed to put her in a bit of a trance-ish fog), glancing back in the direction of the supposed cannibal discretely, then to Kanda, then to Jade... and smiled. "Well, must be quite the coincidence."
"Let's just keep moving," snapped Yossarian at the 'lead' of the pack (... ish), "I have no desire to stir trouble in this hellish pit!"
"..." Shae had absolutely no qualms with that, and sure as hell didn't want to fall behind, either.
Still... the halfbreed couldn't shake that nagging feeling--the one that told her this was some kind of horrible omen.
But that was just a feeling and therefore silly, right?... RIGHT?

Well in SOME cases, Aster was more leaning against his back than his side, not one fond of the possibility of FALLING TO THEIR DEATH either, so staying close by.
Though the 'cannibal' comment had earned a VERY odd look from Aster; Of course, she didn't know what a cannibal WAS. Oh dear, that may have been a disaster waiting to happen, now that it was looked back on. CAN HAS WUT R CANNIBAL? Only she was smart enough to not ask out loud; just the sudden tension in the air said it wasn't good.
So she'd backed off of the idea.
"I'd rather get through he-"
Jade butted in. "Ah, but not until we have hats for our paler parties, no?"
It was sort of ironic that ALL of the non-totally-furred members of their party had pale skin, and that Aster had FORGOTTEN her previous request for a hat to protect hers further.
Then again, maybe JADE had no self preservation (Yeah right, he tossed around a weapon like it was attached to his limbs), just chuckling as he half-browsed/glanced into tents as they passed them by, 'hmmm'ing contently. Okay, what was he looking for?
Hats.
AND TAKING FOREVER. But eventually he had ducked inside of one of the tents. Oh hell. Now they had to WAIT on him.
Which Kanda was NOT thrilled about, frowning immensely at the crowd and WILLING the dusty-haired and tattered looking ONE EYED MONSTER to not see him.
Which he had.
Oh hell. Kanda's ears flattened back immediately as the man approached, UPPING the tension radiating from him. "Oh hell.."

... Oh, damn them all and their need of hats.
Even Shae would have probably forsaken that sun cover in a heartbeat if it meant getting away from that scary man faster, but no, Jade was already off scouring tents like he owned the place and they, in turn, could only hang behind and wait for him like the leashed dogs they'd become.
She was certainly sticking tight to Fabio's side as they went, keeping a hand on the horse's flank as if it would somehow guarantee she wasn't separated from the group.
Her tail was starting to prickle regardless of willing it not to.
Yossarian, of course, was busy playing the lesser fazed of the two... and putting off as much of a powerful alpha-dog vibe as he could, standing straight and keeping his face entirely composed as if there was no migraine bludgeoning his temples at all.
Him? Weak? Oh, that was just preposterous! The bloodied remains of his scalp behind that ponytail were just an illusion!
"Looks like that fellow's had quite the life," Hanna had to comment, as if the fact that they were being approached by a MAN EATER hadn't even sank in. With that, too, she'd gone a step further... and turned around to smile at said beast, entired relaxed despite her pallor. "Do you need something there, good Sir?"
H-hold on, WHY HAD SHE JUST ADDRESSED HIM?! THAT WAS BAD. BAD BAD BAD.
Yossarian would've facepalmed if he wasn't in public, and Shae just got all the stiffer, discretely keeping her eyes off of him instead. Maybe if she made no eye contact, the guy wouldn't notice she was there in the first place?
It was wishful thinking.

Hell.. ASTER was already burned, so bypassing the needless side trip probably would have been nicer than anything else that was going to happen. Baaaaaah!
Yes, BAAAAAAAAAAH! But at the least she was able to censore her undying desire to whimper and whine and blahblahblah, just settling with... standing closer to Fabio than hindering Yossarian's sword-arm, her tail curling right between her legs and puffed up to hell and back. AHHHH DO NOT WANNNNNNNT.
Wibble wibble SOB.
Only without sobbing out-loud. Good girl -- don't bring doom down upon the ..er..group.
Though as Zeane got closer, her desire to stay quiet was going WAAAAAAAAAAAY down.
THe man seemed rather amused by the sudden conversation starter from Hanna, the corners of his mouth twitching ever so slightly in reflection of this. Well great, a Cannibal with a sense of irony -- there were certainly those who DIDN'T appreciate it.
"I simply noticed that I'd met someone in your party before that I owe for a certain... favor."
Okay, now KANDA'S tail was puffed up to hell and back. BAD BAD BAD BAD BAAAAAAADDDDDDDDD!
fjaskldfajsdf. Hanna! DID YOU WANT THEM ALL TO DIIIIIE? Because Kanda was actually getting to a point of feeling FAR more threatened than he should have. Ahhhhh ******** was with Shae on that one -- LOOK ANYWHERE BUT AT THE CRAZY.

... The therapist really was trying to kill them.
Yossarian was sure of it; after all, there was just no other possible reason behind addressing a recognized cannibal who happened to have some personal vendetta against their own members! Surely, sanity must have tried kicking in with her... right? If she had a death wish, he didn't want to partake of her fate!
Damn all of this over and over again-- just where in the world was JADE?! Surely, he could've booked it with the mundane errands!
Hell, even the wind was starting to feel unsettled... and much swifter and sandier than he recalled from just moments ago. The tents had all began to creak and flap at their entryways, eerily, ominously.
"Well, now I'm curious," Hanna just went on despite it all, perfectly serene and oblivious (or so it seemed to everyone else, anyway), all the while. "A favor, is it?--"
"We're passing through, nothing more," apparently something within Shae had compelled her to speak up that moment, her guts giving an instantaneous LURCH of horrified regret and yet... that didn't step her. She just didn't let herself lurk on the stranger's direction. "We have no intention of causing trouble, Sir..."
Yossarian had to give it to her; for someone who was secretly mortified, she did a fair job of pulling off the composed bluff.
"We're not interested in whatever feeble vendettas you may possess," he'd even added, "so I would suggest you do away with any ideas there."
(God, that wind really was bothersome, too...)

Oh god, she Sooo wanted to move away right now, but everywhere else was just as deadly to her health, ahhhhhh! No really, she was MORE than ready to panic and run away screaming at this point. afdklds. She was HAPPILY camped out in her spot against Yossarian's back.
Ready to whine.
or cry
or sob
or whatever else it was she was doing. Noooooooo! Okay, she was, again, rather quiet in her fussy panic. Alas...all of her 'DO NOT WANNNNT' sensors were going off, and the fact that neither Hanna nor Jade were going ''LAWL LAWL WE CAN HAS LEAVE NOW' was bothering her to hell and back.
afsdjl. "W-we're just moving on through, really!"
The male frowned at Hanna's rather... pointless inquiry, before he fussed with his eyepatch to move it off of his covered eye -- which was looking as though it definitely had NOT seen any medical treatment in a while. It was pus-y, scarred, and ... fjasdlkfjdslfk.
It had made Aster cringe and hide her face in Yossarian's back. Ewwwww!!!
"This." he said simply, prodding at what had OBVIOUSLY been his eye once, just to add the effect of the OOZING from his eye, before replacing the patch again.
JADE on the other hand, had been nice enough to FINALLY make his appearance.
dfsal. With hats, yes, but also seemingly quite amused by Zeane and his eyes. "Well, that's quite the anomaly~"
Ah ha ha.
Ha... yeah.. he knew Alll about that little thing there.. and the stuff
and the thingy. Yep. Knew allll about it. And he wasn't very pleased to see how it was being played out at the given moment. "You DESERVED that and you know it." Kanda hissed at the bandit, though he had no ability to actually 'back up' what he was saying now.
Since he was a goddamned gimp. However, when Jade came out, Kanda immediately butted in. "We're LEAVING."

... Okay, ew.
Yossarian had seen (and treated) a lot of wounds in his day, but there was a special squirm of revulsion in his guts at the sight of that particular mess, made infinitely more gruesome from neglect and pus and dirt and just... god, how on earth could anyone LIVE with that for years?!-- because those scars around the guy's face sure weren't fresh, and just...
Good god, the logistics were beyond him.
Shae, too, was sickened by the sight of it-- and that was thanks to just a slight sideward glance from the corner of one eye, too! Had she not been so mortified of Zeane, perhaps she would've even dug out some peroxide to offer for that poor, disgustingly mangled face...
(She'd sure paled a shade or two, which was saying something)
"Well, that's quite the anomaly!" Hanna, in a rather ironic twist of verbal fate, said in perfect unison with a certain glasses-wearing cad as he strolled back out, smiling brightly. "Ah! Welcome back-- and excellent timing!"
"Yes, we were just leaving," Yossarian reinforced haughtily, practically YANKING at Fabio's halter to get the horse moving along again. "Let's hurry up; this irksome wind is--"
"... I wonder if this is that Onity phenomenon kicking up," the little therapist commented offhandedly, as if it were some silly afterthought. "Seems to be getting a little hairy out here..."
That, and all of the locals were suddenly seeming to leave the streets like cockroaches beneath the flood of the kitchen light.
"Either way, that's something we can consider once we're on our way--"
"... Actually, I'm not so certain about that, Mister Yossarian--"
"Just hurry up!"

And Aster, who's range of 'bad wounds' was about the peek of .... well, the range of the scar on Yossarian's belly.. which she was more than thankful he'd NOT died because of once again. But that was the past and he would have frowned at her if he'd known she was fussing over that again. Remind her just what she was reminding herself:
It had passed and nobody had died.
She had been more than happy to stop COWERING behind Yossarian once he'd made the motions to get them going again.. except it seemed that Hanna had mentioned something worth noting. Oh hell.... "The...what?" she puzzled, looking from Hanna to Yossarian as though more wanting HIM to answer than she was looking for Hanna to do so.
WAS SHE SAYING THEY'D HAVE TO STAY HERE LONGER?
PLZNO.
Kanda felt so WOMANLY being pulled along by Yossarian on the back of a horse while sitting all daintily. Freaking SUCK.
As for the Onity.... oh hell. "As much as I hate it here, nobody is foolish enough to go out into the Sandstorm when it brews up. We may have to find a place to stash ourselves..." he grumbled, leering at Zeane (who was all too amused by the ordeal), before looking to Shae and frowning lightly.
"So we'd be best off finding shelter."
And Jade was allll over the whole thing, chuckling a bit. "Well, why don't we just tent up with our new friend~"
fasjdkfl.
Zeane, however, was already on the move to get into hiding as well. Yep, he'd just be up and hiding out himself. "Yeah..yeah.. I'd think we're all better off going into hiding NOW."

"Excuse me?!" the words had erupted out of Yossarian's mouth before any conscious thought ever crossed his mind, practically dropping Fabio's reins altogether in favor of spinning 'round and hissing RIGHT at the source(s) of all their problems. "Has your self preservation been swept away in this damnable wind already?! We are not--"
"Oh, look, there he goes!" Hanna cut him off, so unflustered by his attempted scolding that she just brushed right on past, following the lead of the mysterious Zeane-- and leaving him utterly incensed in her wake. "I don't think any of us will be much good if we're caught out here."
Sadly, even the glowering, utterly enraged Dark Knight couldn't deny her logic there; in only a minute's time the wind had kicked up fiercely, and even he was finding it hard to stay upright, let alone breathe in the thick whirlwind of sand.
Shae certainly seemed to be struggling with it, having pulled a sleeve over her mouth as some feeble excuse for a vent and STILL coughing like a shaken asthmatic. It was only bracing against Fabio that kept her from getting toppled by the wild winds, and sadly, despite her better sense and the very REAL dread of something horrible happening, she had to resign herself to following Hanna's lead in the end... for the sake of her withering lungs and insides.
Which she hoped would stay intact and not DEVOURED while they stuck around.
(Was that monster's tent even big enough for a horse? And how as KANDA going to deal with this?!)
... Keeping hugged to the horse's side and frowning beneath her failed sandmask, she couldn't help but wonder.
"... This can't possibly end well," Yossarian, the last in line now, hissed through gritted (and GRITTY) teeth, frowning terribly. "It just can't."
Why he went along with this harebrained nonsense, he'd never understand.

And as for Aster? She was pretty much resigned to going wherever Yossarian went at this point. Even if it WAS the tent of a psychopath, she was safer with him than she was being ANYWHERE ELSE. Especially when there was fjaskdlf;df.
Sand in her noooooose! (Sadly, she was sort of doomed for it given the shape and SIZE of her nose).
But ultimately, she just trailed along, linking one arm with Yossarian's to prevent her from getting lost or whatever else could have happened of that variety on their TREK TO THEIR OWN DEATH (or whatever else it was. SOB).
However, as expected, Zeane's tent was going to be a little bit of a - not...to..tight fit. In fact, he, for some reason, had TWO tents. Buuuuh? In fact, even MORE surprising upon entering one of the tents was the little eight year old that suddenly came running out of the other tent to hide behind the maneater.
BUUUUUH?
Zeane didn't seem to find a problem at all with the whole thing, scooping up the Koshka child with the two mechanical limbs and allowing her to cling to him while she investigated the other parties.
"This is my daughter." he stated flatly, before nudging the girl lightly. "Say hello, Lunch."
asdjfkl;f. WOrst name ever. The child, however, seemed to have NO problem with said name. "Hullo.." she mumbled, leaning against the CRAZYMANWHOCALLEDHERLUNCHANDWASSUPPOSEDLYHERFATHERfjsdlkf.
Jade, however, seemed charmed by the whole thing -- he was just a sadist. That HAD to be it. "Well, you seem to be quite the intelligent little girl~" he said, before looking about the inside of the tent. Omai.
"Quite the space you have here. How did you manage to procure TWO tents to yourself?"
Zeane offered a... rather creepy smile (with some sharper teeth in there -- was there was Koshka in him?) "I have ways."
WAYS THAT DIDN'T MAKE HIM FEEL ANY SAFER. God. damn.
Kanda, once inside the tent and outside of that blasted sand and wind and afjdslf was actually rather wishing he was STILL outside rather than in his current position. Something just screamed 'DO NOT WANT' to him about the whole thing, and he desperately needed to go outside.
Sob.
Especially that little girl bothered him -- namely the limbs. There was NO WAY a kid as young as she was had lost those in any other way than..... ........
