I imagined Sloth as a cat. In nature, cats sleep A LOT, but they are very nimble and agile on their feet. Gluttony, I'd imagine to be more like a dog, as they will eat almost anything, get into trash, eat clothing just to eat the contents of the stains. They are natural scavengers, but dogs have sharp teeth, excellent hearing and smell, speed, are very attentive and as I've seen can sometimes have very little pity on other species who are smaller to them. ((There are exceptions))
Diligence, I could just picture as an obsessive compulsive person. I was thinking by being indirect we could still capture the nature of the sins and virtues without causing so much stir about religious references.
some of the animal references confused me at first too, as i saw them as something else. When i looked into it though it made sense xD

Queenie Cee the seven deadly sins will have physical manifestations, right? When i think of the sins, i think of the homunculus' from full metal alchemist, maybe we can have similar looks for the sins? they don't have to look exactly the same... this is why i can only think of gluttony as a fat person. after watching FMA, my veiw of the 7 sins was sort of changed... actually very changed
well i was reading soul eater (the manga) and the current chapters are placed inside of rooms modeled after the sins. i don't know if it helps but the first room was lust and in lust, everybody's gender was swapped and they looked like what in their point of veiw they thought was attractive (hence the gender swap) and after leaving, they stayed as the other gender and the greater your sexual desire, the longer it takes for the person to change back(best chapter ever, laughed way too much). in greed, it was all money and those lucky chinese cat statues and etc. in sloth, it was beds, couches, beanbags, the works.
i dont know if it helps, but its better than nothing right

The roar of demons.....
I have a few ideas to add to this mayhem...
Long ago, in the ancient past of Gaia, there were 14 demi-gods that played games with each other. Pride, Humility, Envy, Love, Wrath, Kindness, Sloth, Zeal, Greed, Generocity, Gluttony, Temperence, Lust, and Chastity. While other demi-gods got to play with their powers, and affect the earth. These 14 were banned from doing so, as their powers left unchecked could destroy the world. Each one balanced the power of another one, although at this time they didn't know who balanced whom, and so they were always together, for the greater good of the world, despite what they themselves wanted to do.
One day long ago, another being came across these 14 and saw the power each one held deep inside them. This being new that he could use these demi-gods to change the world into whatever he wanted, a place ruled by sin he thought. But for that he would only need 7, yes the 7 deadly sins. Pride, Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Lust. But there was a problem with his plan, he new the other 7, the virtues, could be just as evil and destructive, not only that, but the 14 demi-gods were as one huge family, they all loved one another way too much for his plan to work. This beings name was Sin, and he hated his brother Virtue. Somehow, he wanted to win, badly, guess it was his pride that wanted Virtue gone, he couldn't stand their being someone who could equal his powers over this world.
Many years past, and no one knows how he did it, but Sin used his powers to turn the 7 Sins against the 7 Virtues, and a great war began between Sin and his brother Virtue.
After a great many years, unknown to the Sins or to the Virtues, the people of this world built a great tower, a tower with 9 rooms. The first floor held a sealed door to the other 8, each room built for one Sin and one Virtue, with the top room of the tower meant for siblings Sin & Virtue. Somehow, through a means lost in time's wake, the people of that world trapped the 14 demi-gods, and the siblings into this tower, never to come out again. For the only way the rooms could open, is if the Sin and Virtue of that room worked together. 1,000s of years past.....
Someone remembered the legend, and looked upon the tower. She thought to herself, "What if I could steal the powers of the 14 demi-gods and make it my own?" She thought to balance the world once and for all, but couldn't do this herself. Then an idea hit her, who else could get into the tower, of course, the decedents of those whom imprisoned these beings, and how to lure them back here to open the tower on up for her? Why that was simple, she would take over the 9th Annual Ball, and have it take place within the tower itself, some decedent or another is bound to open up the seal on the first floor of the tower, and then the real fun could begin.
What do you guys think? This leaves 9 rooms in all, the first floor, run by "Balance" Then 7 floors, each ran by one Sin and one Virtue, and then the top floor, ran by the old beings Sin and Virtue. We can develop a story were all the floors but the top one opens up, just as Balanced had planed, however have it end up that without the first floor seal, the seal for the top floor could only hold for 24 hours. (Thus having that room open up on the second day. For the first day that room could be a staircase and a door so that we don't have to lock and unlock the thread.) From here it could be a story about Sins VS. Virtues, Or it could turn out the Sin and Virtue actually liked being locked away in the tower, were they didn't have to deal with the world, an thus have the Sins and Virtues all gang up on Balance, trying to remove her from their tower.
(With that last idea, we could end the ball with the Sins and Virtues saying "Let's all do this another time! Maybe we should throw another party in 1,000 years or so." Or something as a joke.)
.....Reaches even the Heavens.

I kind of like where this is going. It's original, doesn't tamper with religion, and is interesting.

Thank you guys for getting away from religious discussion. I know that we can't make everyone happy, but we should try to at least make the ball as non-controversial as possible. ^^
While I'm sure the Piers Plowman books are exciting, I'd kind of like to have an original plot.
I do like Poy's idea. ^^ It could be a good base for the plot. I especially like the demi-god part, because that's something Gaians are already used to. ♥

Ah, how shall I do it? Oh, I know. I'll turn him into a flea, a harmless, little flea, and then I'll put that flea in a box, and then I'll put that box inside of another box, and then I'll mail that box to myself, and when it arrives...That's a perfect idea! I like it a lot. ^^ ...I'll smash it with a hammer! It's brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, I tell you! Genius, I say!

Buuuuuuuut, I probably shouldn't be talking about that in here.

I think Poy's idea is wonderful, but a question: How are we going to have more co-hosts in rooms? I see a sin and a virtue, but any more? And what about the room with Sin and Virtue?

I do love the general idea of this- I too was thinking a sort or demi-god or supernatural being, as it would seem kind of odd to be just a normal Gaian. I'm going to play around with this. I am also looking into planitary ruling of the 7 sins. I believe that we can fit more co-hosts in the rooms when the room's plots are made. Perhaps some of them may have mystical beings or servants or spys.

Even though dogs eat a lot they don't need and some have very little pity on species smaller than them, that applies to almost all animals, right? I think dogs are more like happy, loyal and bold(mostly) animals and that gluttony is more human-like cuz we are the species on this planet who lives in most unneccesary luxury.(though I have a dog and am a dog-fan so that might ruin my judgement...) But the idea of The Seven Sins being animals are great, it's just that most of the sins apply to almost all animals, and then it'll be hard to choose. Ploy: That idea is amazing! I love it! whee
