Tsume let his eyes roam over the vast land before him. He could honestly say he had never seen a place quite like this before. The sea alone was enough to send his mind reeling.
The forest looked inviting to hunt in, and with a mountain close by in this climate, he didn't think drinkable water would be of short supply. He truely felt excited about this place.
So it was natural for him to join Hige in his exclamation. Throwing his head back he howled like he hadn't done in a long time. While it didn't feel anything like home for him right now, Tsume had a feeling it soon would be.

Thayne gawked at the landscape before him. He had never seen the sea or sandy beaches in his life; seeing it now was like something out of a fairy tale his mother might have told him...
It only made sense to him, though, that he would be here. Here, in this fantasy-land with his new pack. A place to start new, begin again.
Tsume and Hige's howls broke through his reverie and filled his chest until he could contain his own elation no longer. He raised his muzzle to the sky and released a call of his own, his voice falling somewhere between Hige's and Tsume's.

Anticipation grew as the scents of salt and slightly warmer air hit Loki's nose. She trotted along at Hige's side until he stopped, they surveyed the outskirts of their new territory together as a swelling of pride and honor took hold in her chest. She looked on, her ears perked as Hige's howl - followed by Tsume and Thayne's - found her ears. Throwing her head back, she let her voice fly, howling with her mate and pack brothers.

((Last post before work, for me~))
Well... if that chorus of calls didn't send the forest creatures into hiding, nothing would. Hige gave his body a stretch and a shake, looking at the others. "Go ahead and start searching out dens... Loki and I are going to mark off the perimeter."
He turned to his mate with a soft smile, nuzzling her before starting back a bit the way they'd come.
"Come on,"
((Tis small gonk but all I have time for! I'll reply with a bigger post later!))

Tat looked around the new territory after being freed from one of her packmember's jaws. Tiny ears twitched as she gazed around, taking in the new scents around her as blue-green eyes took in her surroundings. A strange scent was the most curious to her though. It was salty and drifted through the air in a never-ending cycle but that was quickly thrown from her thoughts for the moment as pack members raised their heads and allowed their voices to resound within the new land. Tail wagging, Tat voiced her own happiness of finding a territory. Her call, not quite as loud and boisterous as the adult members of the group but still adding to the wonderful sound that the pack was creating.

Hige smiled and lightly nudged the back of Tat's head as the group finally calmed and was about to disperse. "So, what do you think kiddo?"

Tat was so into her howling that Hige's nudge surprised her and her surprise was reflected in her voice but she quickly turned, tail wagging furiously. "I love it!" She toothily smiled before her nose caught that strange scent againa nd she cocked her head slightly, sniffing the air a bit more. "But what is that odd smell? It's all around." As if to prove her point she turned around and sniffed the air before sneezing.

Hige let himself laugh a little, feeling an unmistakeable joy and excitement that had come with finding their new home. "The smell? It's the smell of the sea. It's like a lake that just goes on farther than you can look or swim."
They'd have to caution the pack and any other young ones that might come along. It shouldn't be a problem, but just to make sure.
He glanced to Loki, maybe they could show Tatiana and the others the ocean first.... they should probably wait until after they (Hige and Loki) had at least marked off the borders of their land.

Tat grinned. "Really!? It won't dry out will it? Caus eif it's as big as you say we'll have lots of water to driink." Playfully she spun on her heals to look up at Hige.

"Nope, it won't ever dry up as long as we're here." He replied with a grin, though also with certainty. "I doubt if it's very good to drink either, though. It's pretty salty." He made a slight face, then turned his head back towards the way they'd come. "--but... the rivers and streams that go through the freelands, they all make their way down here, so there's bound to be drinking water close by."
Now there was the question of where Tatiana would stay, whose den would she stay in? Hige didn't at all object to her staying with Loki and himself but Balan had been the one to find her, and he was also sure that Balan would want the little one's company. Tatiana was also familiar with Balan for the fact that he'd been the one to find her.
Hige let loose a lazy yawn, he was hoping to mark off their land soon so they could dig out their dens and establish their territory for good. They would need to go visit with Devvyl and Selia at some point as well to let them know they'd found land. He was also curious to see how their pups had grown, and how the rest of the pack faired. For the time being he just winked at Tatiana and watched as Loki, Thayne, Tsume, and Balan took in the new territory.

Tsume watched Hige and Loki take off and took his own direction in the new territory. With the wind in his face he made for the line of trees. Running in the open was fine, but for him a den needed to be hidden.
He sniffed the air, and wound a path between the trees. The wolf hoped to find an abandoned den instead of having to start digging his own. It was less time consuming than to dig on his own, and he wanted to do some exploring.
The day proved to be lucky when he stumbled over an abandoned badgers den. It fit Tsume just fine, and he could expand it as he saw fit. The smell was a bit distracting, but it would change over time Tsume knew. He gave a short howl, to confim to himself that he had found a new home.
Running back to the open Tsume watched the others move about. It seemed that Hige had a pretty smooth working pack there. With that noted he headed to the shore, the first area he wanted to get a closer look at.

[[ OMG! Tahja changed her HAIR. eek ]]
Thayne went off in his own direction after a moment's hesitation over Tatiana. He decided she would be fine with Balan and went to find himself a den -- or at least a place for one or two. He wanted to stay near Hige and Loki if he could, being their beta. Another thought was to stay out on the perimeter of the packlands, but he didn't know what the boundaries exactly were yet, so that could just wait.
He headed into the forest, nose close to the ground and eyes open. He came upon a stream on a gentle slope, not too far from the shore. Trees with numerous thick and ground-breaking roots lined the streambank; moss covered the soft sandy soil. It was a place of magic. Thayne trotted up the hill a little more, stepping around and over the growing amount of rocks and discovered a small plateau where fresh water pooled before spilling over and going down the streambed to the ocean. Trees surrounded the pretty little pool, and behind it, large rocks piled up in a natural monument. He yipped in pleasure and gleefully investigated every part of the area.
Eventually he marked some places near trees and made a mental note of the area and how to get back there. He started to go, but stopped in mid-step, turned out and came back to start on his den.

(( redface Most sincere apologies on my absense.. moving to a new place and trying to settle into training at a new job has me busy as hell, and we all know glitchy buggy Gaia + slow dialup internet just.. doesn't really work most of the time. I should have cable internet here within the next two or three weeks and my work/sleep schedule should be worked out by then too. Again, profoundly sorry I havn't been around much, as alpha female it's kind of required (at least in my mind). Tahj, if you want to snatch up Loki and move her around to mark off the territory, you have my permission of course. I'll be checking back more often as things settle and hopefully I'll get to post a lot more. *misses everyone* ))

((It's good to hear that things are settling, at least. It's better to report in not so often with decent news than to show up regularly with more and more bad news, ne? XD;; Im exhausted from work (+headache), my brain isn't making sense. Don't worry, Stormy, I'll hold down the alpha-fort while you're out. Be prepared to be briefed upon your return!))

((>3 *has surprise for everyone who has posted their den-site so far *COUGHhintCOUGHHACK*))
A strange sense of Deja vu came over Hige's senses as he walked the territory of their lands with his mate at his side and the growing pup in between them. The last time they'd done this Thayne was in Tatiana's place, still growing into adolescence, and they were but gamma and omega in the grand scheme of that group.
The three began at the shore, to the West (the ocean is south, the freelands are north) was a small river, a bank on each side. The waters moved slowly enough in one place that they could easily cross. They'd come back and travel to the East later.
The trees were thicker on the east side of the bank, but none grew on the west of the small river. As they crossed the river to the grassland it just abruptly stopped, grass running into an expanse of sand. The wind was most noticeable out in the open fields, carrying the scents of the sea. The two alphas conversed a bit as they went, stopping at the edge of the grass. Both adults kept one ear on the pup in their presence and the other on their surroundings, and they certainly kept their noses open.
Loki noted that in addition to the absence of anything but grass the dirt was also sandy further out, and eventually became nothing but sand after a while. It wouldn't be good for hunting unless they managed to find grazing herd-beasts.
They were now standing in the center of the grasses, the river, shore, and ocean lay south and south-west behind them while the forest sat east and south-east, the mountains even further east than that. The majestically formed mounds of hardened earth branched farther north and stopped abruptly, forest picking up again at the foot of those mountains.
They decided they'd mark off the area around the treeline, then headed further north with their trek.
