"Sir! There could be trouble!" Rounce grumbled something about the royals needing to be a bit more carefull and jerked his head towards the direction Ballad had run off. "What do you say? Up for a bit of a thrill?" His brows furrowed and he set off after his king, shouting back towards Sky Dance. "Don't fall too far behind!"

Sky Dance followed them slightly behind, half hearing the conversation. She was far more focused on the prospect of seeing one of her siblings again. Oh, the joy! Maybe she'd have news from father and mother? Who knew? All she had to do was wait...
More than the sudden call, the young one's head jerked up at Rounce's voice, his first words jumbled together, the shout loud and clear. "Easy for you to say..." she grumbled, trying to run as fast as she could. Of course, her speed was greatly impaired, compared to that of two adult lions, and inevitably she fell behind, continuing to groan to herself about smallness and the like.

Ballad eased back on his speed slightly, knowing better than to run into anything by himself. He glanced back at Rounce with a carefull smile. He knew Whistle was alright, but she would only be so worried if something had happened too...
"There's something wrong with one of the cubs." He whispered to the male beside him, his heart aching. "I don't know what..."
He realized that he wouldn't want SkyDance on her own if something was happening, and slowed further, looking for the little female. "Apologies SkyDance, I know better than to leave you alone..."

Sky Dance pursed her lips when the King came back, embarassed by her selfishness. something grave had happened, and there she was whinning! Shame! "Oh, please don't worry about me sir, it's far more pressing to attend to Queen Whistle than wait for me! I can follow you and Rounce with no trouble, so please hurry!" she urged Ballad, frantic.

Rounce gave Ballad a concerned look. He knew the cubs were his life and soul, so there was a need for speed. They needed to find out what was wrong. But he wouldn't let Sky Dance fall behind...
Thinking quickly he knelt down low enough to Sky Dance to be able to hope onto his shoulders. "C'mon Sky!" He nodded to urge Ballad on, the cubs needed to be safe...

Ballad paused to make sure that Rounce would care for the visiting Princess (for in his mind, she surely was, being Sun Star's kin), then sped back to his graceful silent run. He gracefully moved through the oasis setting and approached the hill to the Den, looking around for his mate.
Whistle suddely appeared at the mouth of the den, cheeks stained with silver tears. She waited for her mate to draw nearer, then stepped forward, burrying her face in his thick dark mane and crying softly. "I don't know when.. I didn't... He's..."
"Shhhh my love..." He said softly, purring and cuddling around her. "Tell me what has happened...."
Turning tear-filled eyes up to his face, she drew a deep breath and said simply..."Aveshar is gone..."

With a quick nod, Sky Dance leapt to Rounce's back, clinging to him direly as they made haste to accompany Ballad. She had just arrived and trouble was already brewing... The odds her stay was going to be a bumpy ride had just increased.

Sumner dozed lazily on a warm, flat rock, compeltely ignorant to the goings on around him, especially those with-in the pride.
Since he had come he had been happy to find a home, but soon after he had found a lioness with whom he felt he would be infinantly happy. With nothing decided, however, all he could do was lie on this rock and await their next meeting while trying to be productive in the mean time...

Ballad blinked in surprise, shocked beyond words that one of their cubs was gone. He turned to look at Rounce as he and Sky Dance appeared, and then back to his mate. "You, are sure?"
She nodded, trying to smile at the newcommer. "Welcome once more Rounce, and greetings to your friend.. I am sorry I am not a better Queen, but, our dark son has gone missing..."
She turned back to her mate. "I don't eve know when he could have gone..."

Rounce gave a concerned look to Whistle and nodded. "It's alright, Queen Whistle. He couldn't have gone far! Maybe me and Sky Dance can help you find him?" He offered. "What does he look like?" He felt bad he hadn't been here to see the cubs earlier, but there was nothing he could do about it.

A cub had ran away? So young? Wow, must be a very rowdy little one, Sky Dance thought. "I'll do my best, sir, lady!" she assured, as Rounce volunteered them. It was dangerous for a kit to stumble around all alone! They couldn't let that like so.

Tala charged toward the birthing den, breath heavy. "King Ballad!! Queen Whistle!!" he skidded to a stop infront of the royal family. "I...I think I just saw Aveshar...headed...headed toward the boundries. Please tell me I'm wrong...I think I heard Hyenas. The noises came from the same direction I thought I saw the prince going...."

Sumner looked up - he had been listening ot the conversation quietly, but at the word of hyenas immediately gained full interest, and trotted over to the group not far away. "Hyenas?"

Whistle nuzzled her mate, then turned to the widening ring of Pride Members arranged before her. She smiled her special smile for Tala, the one that told him he was as good as a son in her eyes.
"He's as black as his father's mane with our markings in white.. " She offered as her indigo coated son Kelakohr appeared at her heels. "No bigger than Kela here."
Ballad glanced at Tala. "The boundaries."
He said softly, then looked at Sumner. "Yes, Hyenas it seems are beyond the boundaries, and I have a wayward son... Rounce, if you Sky Dance and Tala would look for my sun, perhaps Sumner would join me in hunting a few dogs..."
His smile was less than kind.
"I'll stay and protect mother." Kelakohr whispered, and earned a smile from his dad that made him puff up with Pride. Glancing at Tala, he seemed to consider something.
"Be careful of Aveshar..." He offered softly. "He is, not like us... He is, cruel..."

Tala nodded. "That was him alright. He was headed west, your highness. The same direction the Hyenas were." The cub nodded, and made his way over to Rounce and Sky Dance. "We can cut him off if we hurry. "glancing at Kelakohr, Tala nodded. "Alright. I think we will be ok, but thank you for your concern, young prince. Take care of your mother and sisters while we are gone."
