I don't believe these so called "Preps" would invade such a fashion. They are more for short jean skirts and tight shirts that show their tummy if you are talking about the "Preps" of this age. In addition, have any of you read my latest announcement? I believe it's important and if you haven't read then I suggest you do so. :3
I'd also like to make known that negativity and name calling is not allowed here. I tend to be a little strict about the Lolita fashion but when it comes to hurting feelings and making fun of others, I cannot let that happen.
This Wal-Mart thing could be a nice idea. Although wee will not know until it’s released. In my opinion the proper way to release it into America is to have a shop all to it's self such as Delias or Forever 21 but with Lolita that display the fashion right, make it clear what all exactly makes Lolita, not just a simple lace skirt. Wal-Mart is probably not the way to go at first but later on I think I'd be fine with it but as I've said before, we won't known until it's released!
Please try your best to stay on subject, no bad stuff! I'll quote part of my announcement.Quote: Arguments & Bashing Some have been completely childish (in a bad way) about what 'lolita' actually is. "THATS NOT LOLITA THATS LIKE GOTH LOLZ U STUPID" I highly recommend not saying that here, there is no reason to be mean here, and it is a rule, kay. If you believe someone has the style wrong, then why not be polite and pm them privately about it? If you cannot have a proper discussion about it then I suggest you just ignore the entire situation together. We all have different beliefs, you can't change the entire world but you can use encouragement without stupid little arguments. Honestly, in my opinion, being a childish rude meany head is not very lolita. To the elitists, I know it can be frustrating seeing the fashion portrayed wrong but you are no better when you just bash and poke fun rather than being proper and helpful.

I hope this thread keeps staying on the clothing line and information about it because personally I thought that whole debate was dumb. They're just clothes. Yes, Lolita is a lifestyle, and those who choose it prefer these particular clothes, but just because you wear lolita-esque clothes doesnt make you lolita, nor does it mean you want to be lolita. If people want to wear it, but have nothing to do with lolita whatsoever, who cares? Its nobodies business but theirs. I wear "goth", prep,"punk", "lolita", and all friggin other "genres" of clothes, but I don't claim to a single one of them. I think clothes are clothes and thats that. Just because you actually live the lolita lifestyle doesnt mean that you deserve to wear the clothes and nobody else is worthy of them. That elitest point of view is what makes all the only clothing scenes so dispicable and idiot. And I feel fairly ashamed of the people that want to be so superficial and judgemental.
Personally I think its great that walmart may handle and lolita line. It makes lolita clothes accesible to more people, especially those who cant afford to pay those big prices online, but still adore lolita. Besides, the clothes ROCK so what does it really matter? We're all in this guild because we love these clothes, we shouldn't be arguing about who gets to wear them, we should be rejoicing that they exist and are now more accesible!
So I very much hope that this debate doesn't continue because to me it seems redundant, elitest, and unfair.
I cant wait to see the line ^-^

Moth Dust I must admit that I'm not sure if I should be excited or not. .__.
It's always super exciting when I can find awesome lolita stuff for cheap prices, but I sort of worry that lolita will one day be some mainstream thing that preppy little girls destroy. T-T I agree, but I hope it doesn't actually happen.

I know this isn't really supposed to be a debate topic, but I wanted to get something in here.
I'm reading a lot of posts now that I hadn't... and I'm thinking... isn't in a Lolita's nature to be accepting and polite? And instead, to me, it sounds like most of us are acting kind of selfish and thinking "OH NO PREPS ARE GOING TO START WEARING IT AND IT'S GOING TO BE MAINSTREAM AND THE WHOLE FASHION STYLE IS GOING TO BE RUINED"
I'd personally rather be seeing others enjoying and appreciating lolita-inspired clothing than running around like half-naked sluts. So what if they buy lolita-inspired clothing and totally ruin the concept? Just forget about it. It's no longer lolita if it doesn't fit the requirements. Don't worry about it - no one else will recognize it as such and give the rest of us bad names.
I dunno. That's my thoughts.
I mean, sure, I wouldn't feel as special if it suddenly became mainstream, but think about it. Think about the comments and remarks you get wearing your outfits out in public. It's not commonly accepted as what it is. I have a feeling that even if the inspired ideas get popular, the real concept of lolita will not. Be happy knowing what you know, but don't let it feed you some kind of ego, you know? Let others be dumb about it, because it's not your problem, and it's not worth your time trying to lecture them or try to seem cooler than they are.
If you feel you are the real thing, then good for you. Maybe others will see through your cool attitude about yourself and find it appealing, rather than arguing your point all the time.

I don't believe you... that's so wierd. I doubt it will sell well unfortunately. It seems wierd that walmart would start that, they usually have badly made mainstream (though a few years out of date) fashion... I never shop there... only went there once. Shopping there would make me guilty as hell, buying cheap clothes makes me think of the child labor used to make it etc etc... I'd still buy the 300 dollar things from Japanese stores, I like really detailed clothes, which I doubt they will have... the protoypes of clothes are also usually a lot better looking than what turns out, they are better made. If the clothes they showed were just ideas and not exactly what they might sell.
But I've wished for a long time for a fashion revolution... this just might be it... *crosses fingers*

It's a relatively unknown fashion here, and it seems odd that it's debute would be in a Walmart. I mean, usually fashion starts out in boutiques or even higher class department stores, then they work their way down to becoming knock off's at cheap places like Walmart. To me, starting right off at a Walmart is a bad sign. It just doesn't make much sense, and I can't see it going up from there, you know?

I'm a little disturbed by finding out that Walmart will be stocking Lolita clothes. I love Lolita and it just doesn't seem right to me. First off Walmart is taking a risk buy putting out that line becasue sales might not do well since few people know about Lolita. That's why the news seems unbelieve able for me. I wonder if they will be costume-esque like something worn on Halloween. I hope not. >> <<;;

I'm sorry to have even made that post, then. I'm just sort of afraid that if people do start wearing it, they might not get the true grasp of what is. Then, quite possibly, take it and turn it in quite the wrong direction. Wait..Why do I even care? ;o; Skrew that. I don't.
Evelyn: I agree. Personally, seeing more people wearing Lolita-Esque things would encourage me to start wearing it more. Rainy Andrew: I'm sorry for posting that. xx; And I mean, I agree with your point. It's wonderful they are even considering putting them in wal-mart. If they do, I'd probably fall over squealing for joy and such. But once they brought out a few Loli-esque things and they were all gone two days after. In my size at least. So, It might sell out fast, or kind of slowly be bought out by random girls. [Or guys. o.o <3 ]
Okay, so I take my post back, if possible. I hope Wal-mart is daring enough to bring the clothes out. And yush, the name is cute. 'Loli-Pop.' <3 [Note: Not trying to fight. Personally, I just kind of have an elitist view sometimes, I suppose. I try not to, but whatever. I do hope Wal-Mart comes out with it. I'd buy out the whole store. o.o -In dire need of a better top. Last one ripped. D:- It just seems like the popular-ish kids just seem to wear whatever..what's the word..? Whatever comes out in stores that seems to be an expensive fashion. Okay, I so worded that wrong. Wow, this is a long note..o.o Anyway. My point is..Uh. I kind of lost my point in this rant, but I kind of needed to get this out of my system. Sorry for causing trouble, everyone. ] Gomen ne.

XD heart Since I'm saying that, here's my two cents on the matter... I'm eager to see the stuff, see if it's good, see if it's affordable. If it is, I might have a chance at wearing Lolita a lot sooner than I would otherwise. If not, ah well. It's Walmart, what do you expect? (...No offense to anyone.) I think this could be a good opportunity, so I'm eager to see what it's like.
