"No, its alright." Grant stood up and walked up behind Jewlet. "When I was younger I did meet a girl. My father knew one of her family members. We went out once, to a village dance I think, I remember because everyone was staring at us. I felt so bad that she had to endure the gazes and hidden gossip. We ended up going home late that night and her parents were not please..." Grant stopped remembering the night. "I'm sorry I'm rambling. Its just..." Grant slowly reached his left hand out to Jewlet's. "Were you that girl?"

User ImageJewlet looked up and took a deep breath. Why was she trying so hard to dig-up her past. Was it because of Grant or to find out what she needed to do to make herself happy again. She listoned as Grant talked. So her mother was right. She luaghed lightly under her breath before she answered his question. "Your not rambling, Sir Grant." She looked at the water. "Yes. My father knew your father and they set it up from what my mother told me..." 'Father...' She put her head down at the memory of her dead father.

Grant couldn't hold back. He put his arms around Jewlet and held her tight. "I'm sorry Jewlet. I always wanted to go back to see you." Grant looked at Jewlet in the water, watching her face as it moved with the ripples. Grant didn't know Jewlets father had passed on and therefore he was unaware of the sensitivity of the subject. "So how is the old man?" Grant said playfully as he loosened up his grip. ((GAHHH GRANT YOU IDIOT!!!))

Slightly startled by Henna's quick departure, Dainne failed to say goodbye as he would have liked. As Alexander spoke to him, Dainne couldn't fully suppress a small chuckle from escaping him. "Come now Sir Alexander, you can speak honestly with me. There's no need to feel uncomfortable at all." He glanced at Leon and Aiden with a rueful grin. "After all... if it were not for these two constantly reminding me, even I would forget my royal heritage. I much prefer living with the common people, away from all the antiquated beliefs of these other Kingdoms."

He tapped his chin, apparently delighted with a sudden idea. As he began to walk down their current hallway, he spoke to Alexander, telling him a small bit of his past. "I do not know how much of my Kingdom's customs you have heard about, but one practice is well-known throughout many of the other Kingdom's. Sadly this custom is also looked at with dismay and disdain. You see, a few generations ago, the Royal Family gave each of their children unto a common family for 12 years. This family would raise this child as a normal son or daughter, teaching them all about the family trade. I myself was given to a family of bakers. Their skill was renowned throughout the Kingdom, baking some of the finest bread." He chuckled as he relived some of the memories. "Those were some of the best years of my life. I learned much, not all of it baking. I was taught how to be kind, and not arrogant about my birthright. In many ways, being a Prince is a curse, not a gift. Life is difficult in different ways. I much prefer physical difficulties rather than what I have to deal with as royalty."

User ImageJewlet looked up and turned her head to Grant shocked by what he had done. Then she turned her head away. "It is fine. That 'tis life for you sometimes." She said lightly. She gasped lightly and looked down as she closed her eyes. "My father... is dead." She said in a flat sad voice. She felt limp and numb as that subject was brought up.

"O."Grant said as he looked away in shame. "I.. I'm sorry." He said quietly. Grant felt Jewlet go a little limp and tightened his grip on her once again. "I know it must be hard to loose your father. It's something that still cuts deep in my own life." As he spoke his voice was have remorseful and half lifeless. Now he wished he had the right words to say to make Jewlet feel better especially after the few times she had made him feel better.

User ImageJewlet looked back up. "It is okay you did not know of this." She said as she squinted her eyes. She could tell how Grant was feeling and she could not take it. "Cheer-up. We must remember they are in a happy place where they are safe." She said as she cleared her mind. She reached up with one hand as she turned to face Grant and grabbed his ear. "Cheer-up." She said as she began to rub the ear.

Grant didn't react in his usual way when Jewlet rubbed his ear. Instead he just looked down at Jewlet. "Yeah, they are probably up there together watching us. Grant then looked up at the sky before closing his eyes. His tail swayed a bit as he moved his hands to hold Jewlet by the hips. Grant smiled a little as the breeze picked up.

User ImageJewlet stopped once realizing the rubbing wasn't working. She put her head down and sighed. "Yes. I bet they are." She looked up and the sky. When the breeze picked up her hair and dress flutter. She looked at Grant and smiled lightly. All this was a confusing mess to her. For once her mind wasn't clear or neat. It was chaotic as it was thinking about many things at once. She had not clue on what to do now, so she just stood there quietly listening to her thoughts.

"Are you feeling better?" Grant asked as he looked into Jewlets eyes. With his right hand he slowly brushed Jewlets long white hair back behind her left ear. Grant then let go of Jewlet and made his way back over to the blanket and started to put the food back in the basket. Grant really wasn't good at these sort of things. He was used to barking out orders and people following them. When Grant finished picking up the food. He sat down on the blanket looked at Jewlet with a smirk.

"Your Kingdom's customs seem to me a way to create a much higher sophisticated class of Royalty, one that knows the blights of their people since they grew up first hand as a commoner."

Alexander felt he as well should speak about his own people's customs, but he didn't know any of them; despite being taught much about Tou Culture, he didn't know how what the Royal customs were at the current moment, but he knew of the customs of the time he was in the Tou Kingdom.

"My people -as you may or may not know- do not have Royal Families, but instead a Council of the nine oldest Tou in the land with a Head Council leader; The Tou view the Royalty system to be out dated and unnecessary..."

That was all Alexander truly knew about his race's leadership customs; the rest of what Alexander would have to say was a sob story of his life and he didn't want to go on telling it to Dainne on fear that he would feel sorry for Alexander.

"My past is not something I like to get into though, Dainne; speaking of it brings nothing but sorrow."

Alexander wasn’t at good terms with his past due to the large fraction of his life he spent as a slave and the so called death of his mother and father. He just didn’t want to ruin Dainne’s mood with his story, but maybe he could tell him another time.

User ImageJewlet nodded her head and smiled. She watched Grant as he went back over to the blanket. She stood there for a moment to think and clear her mind. She walked over to Grant and sat in front of him. Not knowing what to do, she began to hum. She frowned and stood up. She walked to where she was behind Grant and got on her knees. Bitting her lower lip she hugged him and rested her chin on his shoulder.

As Grant watched as Jewlet moved behind him. As a seasoned veterin he was used to pain so when Jewlet knelt on his tail he only closed his eyes for a moment as the pain ran up his tail and to his lower back. Grant then ignored the pain and leaned back against Jewlet. Moving his hands to meet Jewlet's. Leaning his head against her he spoke softly. "The day I was going to see you was the day my father became too sick to work. I stayed home that day to take care of him and started work at the castle the next day." A tear rolled down his cheek to where his cheek met Jewlet's. "I always regretted never going to see you again."

User ImageJewlet felt something under her leg and saw it was Grants tail and quickly moved her leg off of it. Carefully she sat down as Grant leaned against her. All this seemed to be calming as she listened to him. "I understand. It is okay." She hugged him tighter and shut her eyes. "Well your seeing me now are you not?" She laughed lightly.

"Heh, Yeah." Grant nestled his head into Jewlet's neck. "You know I bet they're both up they watching us now with smiles on there faces." Grant placed his hands around Jewlet's and smiled. "I bet they're the one's who brought us to this day." Grant smiled as his tail played with Jewlet's hair. Grant finally felt that things where right in the world. He felt things could never get any better that that one moment they where in right now. I hope this moment never ends He thought a he laid there in Jewlet's arms.
