Lily peered nervously at the young man who had bumped her. Was it James, or was she just being paranoid? Well... she may never find out, but Lily decided to let loose and have some fun. "Sure," she said with a grin, grabbing the boy's hand and pulling him towards the dance floor.

[What? .....Oh, I see. I thought he was talking to someone else somehow. sweatdrop Oops! Um. Well. ...... Try again? ^^'' I dunno! Sorry! ] Kailyn laughed out loud as she saw Remus trying to escape the girl she had stuck him with and get back to the punch bowl. Maybe he would have been more successful if Kailyn hadn't magically enlarged the girl's crush on him. With one more smirk in Remus's general direction, she started dancing again, by herself in the middle of the dance floor, as if she had not a care in the world.
James grinned back, following Lily happily. Yes! She doesn't recognize me, and maybe now Lily can realize that she does love me, 'cause I know she does!

{{Haha. 'S alright. ^_^;}}
Luke stood staring at the space that the girl had left. She... she... she ignored me!! Nobody ignores me. I'm not giving up just yet. Scanning the room, he spotted the girl again. He didn't like being turned down, nor did he like being ignored. He had his eye on this girl, and she wasn't getting out of his reach just yet. Especially now that good music was playing. He crossed the dance floor, seemingly materializing next to the girl. "Care to dance?" he asked quietly, leaning down so that he was very close to her ear.
Lily danced her heart out on the dance floor, her head bobbing to the beat. Her fiery red hair bounced around with the rest of her. Laughter bubbled from her mouth and spiraled towards the sky, her head thrown back. She had never had so much fun in her life. And then she realized: she was having this much fun, and she knew very well that it was James Potter that she was dancing with. She just didn't care.
Lily turned to James with a grin and continued dancing.

Kailyn smiled, turning to him and putting one hand on his cheek. She looked into his eyes, and her smile widened. "I'd love to...." She answered, just as quietly. Then she started dancing again, feeling better than she had in years.
James danced along with Lily, overjoyed to see her so happy. A very good start to the year, indeed.[ Meh, crappiness. ><' ]

Luke caught himself before he flinched at her touch. Wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong idea... His grin stretched across his face as he danced. Thankfully, the girl he had chosen to ask was a good dancer, thoroughly matching his own skill.
When that song ended, Lily pulled James off to the side. "So are you going to tell me who you really are?" she asked with a grin, cocking her head to the side. She already knew that it was James, but she wanted to see what his answer would be.

As Kailyn danced, she wondered who he was- Not that it mattered overly much. Then again, she did admire guys who had some proficiency at dancing, and this fellow was beyond that. Not to mention he knew how to play it cool when something unexpected happened. Hmm... This evening just got more interesting.
James was torn- Should he tell her? How would she react? After a short pause, he recovered himself and replied smoothly, "I thought the purpose of a Masquerade was not knowing who people are." He winked at her, wondering if she had caught on.

{{Why do I feel a distinct are of plotting coming from Kailyn...? xD}}
Luke leaned down, so he could be heard over the music as they danced. "You're quite a good dancer, you know. Would you like to reveal and clues as to who you might be?" he asked with a small smile. He figured she wouldn't... she had a bit of an air off stubborness around her.
Lily smiled, deciding something internally. "Yes, well... I realize that that is the point of a Masquerade. But part of the fun is figuring out who the person is. I just wanted to know if you would give yourself away. Not that it really matters, seeing as I already figured out who you are, James..." Lily said his name very quietly, a devilish grin quirking her lips.

"Alright." Said Kailyn, after a moment. Why she wanted to tell this fellow, she didn't know. But perhaps a different sort of clue... "I'm not a Slytherin, even if I kind of wanted to be." She grinned slightly. "That throw you off a bit?"
James opened his mouth, then closed it again. He sighed and shook his head at her, smiling. "Well, I knew you were smart, Lily." He laughed. "But not smart enough to see why I wouldn't tell you? You find out who I am, my chances of spending more time with you decrease dramatically." His smile faded. "I just want to be with you Lily, and if having to disguise my identity is what it takes, then so be it." He gave another small sigh. "So, aren't you going to walk away? Yell at me? Come on, I'm used to it." James however, expecting the usual rejection, actually looked rather.... forlorn. Lonely. As if he thought there was no hope, even though he knew he'd never give up on her.

Luke's eyebrows shot up in surprise. That was something he hadn't been ready for. First, the idea that she had told him... and second, the fact that she wasn't a Slytherin. "That fits then, because even though I have a direct resemblance to a raven... my house is not Ravenclaw. I suppose that makes since too, seeing as we are at a masquerade ball, where the point is to look entirely unlike yourself. My guess is that you are either a Ravenclaw or a Gryffindor. You don't quite seem to have the personality of the Hufflepuff." After a moment's thoughtful pause, he continued with a tiny nod. "I'm going to go with... Gryffindor. Most Ravenclaws wouldn't go with something that is their house symbol. It would be a dead give a way," Luke analyzed, looking at her with a small smile. "Am I right? You are a Gryffindor, correct?" He smiled and cocked an eyebrow.
Lily smiled softly, a small laugh escaping from her lips. "James Potter, you are making the most pitiful face I have ever seen in my entire life," she snickered, covering her mouth with one hand to hide her grin. Her giggling gained a slightly bubbly sound as it grew, becoming infectuous. "I'm not going to walk away this time. It's not like I didn't know it was you when I accepted your invitation to dance," Lily said, sobering a bit but still smiling. "You're the only one who can find me that quickly when I'm trying not to be found, now that I consider it..." chuckling, she thought out loud.

"Looking hot, Kaylin!" Alysson shreiked as she passed the Rogue and Luke. Of course, she didn't know they were having a conversation or anything... "Aly! Aly! I'm having a panic attack! Ohmygosh! See, there's this boy, and-" A flailing Hufflepuff gripped onto Alysson's arm as she scooted past, attempting to catch up with Gwin. "Uh- I'm sorry Mally, but I can't talk now- I have this thing-" A loud throat clearing made both of the girls spin around. Gwin raised an eyebrow silkilly. "Aly," She said with as much spite as she could manage under the extremely loud circumstances. "Let's get moving before I change my mind." "Back off Lizard Queen!" A voice called within the pit. Alysson pursed her lips, unable to agree more with the person who shouted it. "Fine." she said angrilly, shaking off Mally. This was- after all- one of the few chances to get in with the Rogues. "I'll be back in a minute. Promise." Aly said soothingly to the paniced Mally. "Remember, whatever you have to face, you can take it with a smile." Alysson said, and patted the girl's arm. Without further ado, she marched alongside Gwin, the two gripping each other with athletic strenth. "So tell me, Alysson," mused Gwin through clenched teeth, "What was that all about?" "Mally's been watching this guy, and she wanted to dance with him tonight- Some hopeless romantic, you know?" Alysson sniffed, raising her eyebrows a bit. "Sound familiar?" [OOC: HOBURN!]
