Step by step, Raum started to go a little stir-crazy. She started to pretend she was waltzing. "I know you're there," she said, to whatever was watching from the shadows.
"Care to dance?" she asked in jest, holding out a hand to the emptiness, before waltzing across the floor.

Raum hummed to herself brokenly as she moved across the floor, gliding, watching out of the last bit of her vision to make sure she didn't wander into something dangerous. She thought about grabbing a tshirt to dance with as she passed, but it was filthy and it fell apart as she brushed by it.

"It's a shame that this wasn't outfitted to be a better ballroom," she said. "Or, you know, where'd the rickety old bridge go? I bet if I knocked some of these shelves over I could make a better path... Full of discarded trash," she mumbled.

Raum started to think about how nice it felt to move: just to move her muscles, and how they felt like music all of their own. The music of muscle, of body, of the coiled and soft flesh that could be gouged, scored, burnt, rent so easily... and yet this was her body, the one she was stuck with.
She sighed as she danced, complimenting her invisible partner and leaning in to kiss their cheek.
So long as no one was watching, she could do whatever, couldn't she?

She was nearly done, almost at her destination, though she felt as though she'd chosen it largely at random. "Aren't you sorry you didn't dance, too?" she asked the shadows.
"Maybe next time," she offered. "If you think you can keep up with my dance partner here." Raum gestured to the empty air.
It was kind of lonely, being her.

"Doesn't it feel empty, just living here alone?" she asked the shadows. She was beginning to think there wasn't actually anything there at all. But she kept talking as though there was.
"Or are you sleeping after, you know, devouring a whole person or something?" she asked, shrugging as she finished her waltz.

She clasped her hands in front of her, and began to walk the rest of the way; waltzing, despite the crumbling floor, had served her just fine. She took a moment to really look around, and spot what she was after again: something glinting in the recesses of a shelf, on the opposite side of the room from where she started.
She was so close that she could see it far more clearly now.

"Shall I come back and visit?" Raum asked, unclasping her hands and taking a tiny step forward. As if she was waiting for a reply. There was no voice, however, no fight, nothing emerged.
She was faintly disappointed.

Raum yawned, stretched, and then took four steps in rapid succession. Having reached the shelf, she knelt on the filthy floor and examined what was there.
No one would miss this, just one, surely. She had waltzed half way across the room just for this, after all.
Maybe the shadow thing wouldn't mind.
