Walking home today I passed by a few parking lots selling trees.

I don't get it. We live in Washington. There are god damned pine trees EVERYWHERE. There are at least one or two in every yard, not to mention any park or street corner or what have you. I have to walk through forests of the damned things to get to the store. Why do people here feel the need to buy one and put it in their living room?

GO OUTSIDE GOD DAMN IT. "I want to decorate my own tree!" GO PUT SOME ORNAMENTS ON THE ONE OUTSIDE. THEN YOU KILL TWO BIRDS WITH ONE STONE. I KNOW YOU HAVE ONE OUTSIDE, WE ALL DO.

The fake ones I get, you pay like $20 and you have a tree for god damned ever. Cool. Great. Whatever. Even comes with lights and stuff. It's the real ones that you know they're going to have to toss in a month that I don't get.

There ARE a lot of trees in Washington. XD It's so pretty there. My Grandma's sister has a forest in her backyard. <3

We always had a fake one for the house, and we'd decorate it every year. One year, my mom had this genius idea, though. We bought a new, bigger tree. And she spent, like, three days decorating the damned things with fancy gold ribbons and crap. She thought we could just move it to the basement, fully assembled, and then put up the fancy tree, every year.

Ahaha. NO. See how you had to get a bigger tree? Doesn't fit through without taking it apart. We had that ******** up until APRIL because there just HAD to be a way to move it without taking it down. We finally got it out the back door and into the garage, but I'm pretty sure half the bulbs fell off in the process.

I just haven't had the desire to decorate for Christmas since that experience. Well, I used to get out this animatronic panda who spun presents on his nose for the front room. But the wiring is going bad and it smells like he's gonna esplode whenever you plug him in, so I don't do that anymore. Poor panda. =(

Yes. Pandas.

So, like... I need a flash drive, but I wanted something kinda cute. But I found two I like and now I can't decide. D=

Panda 1
Panda 2

I think the first one is cuter, but the second one's head comes off! Then again, it could be kind annoying trying to fit other USB plugs around a panda head...

And I dunno. Ask Ryo.

I like the first one but the last one looks like it could be transferred easily elsewhere (keychain, bag, etc.) So you're less likely to lose it.

First one is cuter.

And yeah, we have a fake tree in the house that comes with lights and stuff. It's pretty cool, breaks into a couple of parts so it's easier to assemble and take apart. I enjoy it, but the real tree thing bugs me. I'm sure it's just because I have to walk so many places.

The first one is definitely cuter, but the goofy little Emtec one is growing one me. Meh... I dunno. I know I'm definitely getting a new mousepad with some baby pandas on it. I've had that same damned Allsop pad with the raindrops on it everybody has since I was TEN, and it's getting ratty as hell.

I like how Ryo came in, and Sevi forgot all about asking about Secret Santa. xd

And why does walking make you hate the real trees? I don't like it, either. But that's because I also grew up around tons of trees, and I love them. They belong outside where they can flourish and little kids can climb them and have fun. Killing them to put in your living room is such a waste. =(

Putting a live one in your living room and then planting it outside later is pretty good, though. My grandma's got a small hedge of former christmas trees growing out behind her house.

We've got a little fake tree - not the pre-decorated kind - but we need a bigger one for all our ornaments. But this one's little little - like 2 feet tall. We used to stand it on the VCR. I don't know where we're going to put it now, in our new apartment.

Well, I do hate them since going through them takes so much time. I mean, it IS a lot shorter than going around, but it does still take time.

But I was referring to the fact of putting a real tree in your house bugs me, since I live in Washington and buying a pine tree when the things are everywhere feels like buying milk when docile, wild cows just walk down the street.

I grew up surrounded by trees, too, and yet I love having real Christmas trees. *shrug* Maybe it's because I can always tell right off that a tree is fake and because they don't smell good like real trees, but yeah...I'm sad that the tree my roommate and I put up is fake.

pg/kerminatrix - I like that idea, planting them outside afterward. =) If I ever live someplace where I can do that, I'm going to.

I think it would be worse walking without seeing any trees. Having no greenery around is kinda depressing. We have mixed deciduous and coniferous forests around here, but there seems to be much more of the former. Makes it beautiful in fall, but dreary as hell in winter.

I miss the old house, with the maples and oak in the front and the long line of pines at the border between the backyard and forest. There was a lone holly tree in the back, too.
