IT HURT!
Was this Red's idea of saving them? To kill them all off here? How would that help anyone--they'd be dead! Death was not something he wanted to encounter again so soon!
The black dog shivered, as frost coated his entire body. Luckily he had evaded most of the flames, but the frost was so cold--it felt like he was burning! He hated it! He hated the cold! It made him feel more dead than he already was! Why was Red doing this to them? Didn't she care about them?
"L-LW..? Night--Simone?" He called to each of them, his voice shaking as much as his body was. "G-guys...?"

Despite his protests, Shun just felt Mitsu's head pushing into his chest to shake her head. Reaching out, he carefully and slowly took her great wolf head, holding on. Inadvertantly, he was also leaning on her somewhat. A part of him took solace that she was refusing to leave his side. But at the same time, he didn't want something to happen to her for that very reason. He might be able to move around a little more on his own power, but without being able to see or hear much, he couldn't do much to defend himself if he needed to. Or protect another for that matter. Though, he supposed if his opponent moved a lot, he might be able to do something about it, but he was not adjusted at all to fighting like this. It was all the price of being a fool on the battlefield. "I don't want something to happen to you because I'm useless," he murmured, "Please Mitsu... Get out while you still can." A ringing in her ears blocked out what terrible screams resounded all around. She could still feel the remnants of heat on her flesh, blackened spots all along the once deep blue fur spread out like sores from a plague...but the sounds, they were gone for the moment. She welcomed the silence as it came, embracing it...especially since the loss of one sense did not seem to impede another.
As flames continued to dance in the distance, smoke still whirling about in a thick cloud, Natalia could just barely see the darkened spots along the ground only moments before they vanished. One after the other, shadows in the grey would fall and then dissipate, her hands not quick enough to grab them, her feet not fast enough to take her to their sides. Victims of the attack, gone. Friends, foes, humans and monsters alike--they all seemed to disappear right before her bloody eyes!
Her tail brushed against things that she could not differentiate between. What was a living being and what was only a rock? Who should she attempt to save and who should she leave behind? There was no telling what she would stumble across in the thicket the behemoth had formed, its broad shape becoming clearer as Natalia moved wearily about the field...searching with every part of her, trying to make sense of it all...
A distant voice came through to her hiked ears as clear as day, desperation lingering within it as her name was called...by an oh so familiar source. She couldn't pin-point where or when it had called, finding it difficult to recollect her current thoughts to those that had surfaced some time ago...but it triggered a face; a sweet and placid face worth remembering. Whisper's elegance formed behind her eyes and for a moment she stopped in her tracks to consume the image...hoping that if she turned around the hellhound would be there, standing with her arms held out and her lips ready for the embrace Natalia surely had waiting for her.
But as she glanced over a shoulder and witnessed nothing but more chaos and fire...her breath caught, and her shoulders fell drastically. She would have to continue on...hoping that the ghoul was safe.
A smell could not have been any fainter than his, and yet with one breath the monster caught on. Mortimer, the undead boil, the one who had joined their team in hopes of bettering himself...one of the four that Natalia felt determined to protect...he was gone. Her nose led her to a plot of grass untouched, not even the shape of a body in its place and yet...it was where she caught the subtlest of whiffs. The flames had swallowed him whole, at least that was what she assumed. It didn't even even allow him the chance to fall and shudder, to become a black spot in the fog. Perhaps it was better that way...but the truth of the matter was that he had...he had...
He had died.
It was unreal. They were not suppose to die! Red was also not suppose to turn into some giant monster thing...but death?! Students!? Dying?! Natalia hadn't been on the previous trip, she had no idea what had happened...she couldn't fathom it.
She simply couldn't cope with the thought! Her hands reached out across the grass and pulled upward with two fists, her forehead hitting the ground hard in anguish. She couldn't save him! It was a fact that rang true and yet could not be accepted fully. Her orange eyes sealed themselves, frustration rising up above her sorrow, even as her features began to shift....Natalia fell to her side as human as was possible, her pale white skin dripping with a mixture of blood and tears, her sobs audible for all to hear. She pounded with tiny white hands against the solid ground, releasing a roar that swelled deep from her gut...
She couldn't save him...but there were still others. Others that she could protect. Individuals that would rely on her just as she would them when the final battle would come...
And the final battle WOULD come.
The creature that still breathed life was alight with fire. Its own doing, not the happenings of falling victim to its own destruction. Red had set herself on fire. Red had set everyone on fire...why?
And despite the smolder that kept everything dark and stuffy...Natalia knew the humans were still around. First she needed to survey the field more; then, she would fight until her very last breath.
She would avenge Mort. She would avenge them all.
((Natalia is, for now, in her human form!))

Mei felt useless not being able to help the reaper boil--but he was right. Perhaps Nurse Cricket would be able to help him when they..if they returned back to amityville. Keeping close by the two, even when being struck down by the fake hunter, Mei glanced about the field in attempts to spot Bul. Where did he go? She lost sight of him when arriving here..
Moving to stand, she froze when she saw what looked to be a large scale flame attack headed straight for them. There wasn't even time to react.

Mitsu's head in Shun's hands, she nuzzled into his touch for a moment before she realized how cold he felt. Moving, she rested her body up against him to let him warm up as well as having something to lean on. She was weak but if anything the lycan had stamina. Though, likely if she survived this madness she would crash and crash hard. She still refused to listen to Shun's plea for her to leave. Mitsu would not abandon the reaper and instead lifted her head slightly to give his cheek a small lick. She was here to stay. Then a figure caught her attention and a small ounce of relief flooded Mitsu seeing that one of her friends was still here. " Xiu!" Mitsu called remaining stationary by Shun's side. Maybe the baku would come over and stay close. It would be much easier to help shield her friend if she needed to. HP: 8 Status: -- ((Mitsu is currently in the form of a rather large white wolf.))

"Someones." Savior wasn't going to be calling for help, for even as hurt as she was the Marrowstripe couldn't ask for help, wouldn't ask for help. Her kind could not show weakness or else it could be taken and used by others, however now was not the time and she needed to get up. She'd laid on the ground long enough, the burns on her body all but tearing as she pushed hard to get to her feet, and as soon as the monster thought she was standing she collapsed back down.
Why couldn't she stand up? Was it because her body hurt? She'd been able to stand up with her body hurting before so Savior didn't understand why this time would be any different. With another groan she tried again, then again, and soon found herself just flopping down into the ground with pointless effort.

It didn't matter if the call was not for help, the monster was on the move and heard something through the crackle of fire. She approached without hesitation, rushing the Marrowstripe's side and sliding to her rear once close enough. "Here, here. I am here." Her voice was gentle, coaxing even as a hand went to touch the ghouls arm, moving her tail along the ground for a head rest if it was needed.
It was difficult to see what was wound and what was ash, but all the same Natalia gently brushed a finger to alert the student of her proximity, and then shuffled about to address her face to face.
Which was...just as impossible to make out.
"Is it your legs? Can you not stand up?" The were lemur continued to move about the flopping ghoul, making several assumptions as to what was hurting and what wasn't, before reaching out again. "I can get you to your feet. Wrap your arm around my neck." Lifting to a knee, the monster extended her arms and readied to envelop the injured ghoul.

Shun partially expected Mitsu to pull back to heed his pleas, but instead she just ended up licking his face. Letting out a sigh, he closed his eyes and leaned more heavily onto her. He was pathetic, showing as much weakness as he was right now. The only thing he could really hide was pain in his arm and body in general. Why she refused to leave this sack of useless FEAR was beyond him.. but he appreciated it nonetheless. Granted... if their positions had been reversed, he wouldn't have abandoned her either. If he survived this.. he was going to need to do some serious training or something along those lines. He wished he could know what was going on. Was the battle still raging on? Or were they actually safe now? The Grim reaper did not want to relax just in case the former was still the situation at hand.

[Saved by Jerry!]
Candace's eyes had been on Jerry ever since she returned to the group, though she was not oblivious at all to Caelius' condition. Not even slightly. This man, their leader, was losing it. He needed their help as much as he may bash them and call them idiots and inadequate and worthless. He needed them. He couldn't fight that damn thing on his own anymore! She had been about to make this point when she heard the two voices, looking up with a perplexed expression. What was going on? Was that...the traitorous b***h and her abomination she dared call her hunter weapon? Candace growled, nearly clenching the fist holding Jerry's destroyed glasses. What was she up to now?
Candace didn't even have time to register what was happening before a force from her side slammed against her and sent her to the ground, covering her. What he hell...?! "Get. Off. Me!" Candace didn't realize who it was, all she wanted was for her sudden assailant to get the ******** off her before she ripped them head off or something. Her hands were on the man's shoulders to shove him off her until she heard a voice speak her name. Wait...waitwaitwait! No! "JERRY?!" Candace cried out in a strangled panic, gingerly pushing him off her now so she could sit up. What she saw made her shriek with horror. No! NO! Jerry! "Y-you...idiot!" Her vision blurred with tears and she chucked the glasses as far from her as she could to lean over Jerry, her arm around his shoulders so she wouldn't be laying him on his back. Her other hand cupped his face, tear-filled purple eyes scanning his face again and again and again.
"Jerry? N..no...! Jerry! Jerry baby, Jerr-bear! Wake up! Please!" Candace whimpered. "You idiot why did you do that?! I...I could kill you for this!" She pat his cheek, breath heaving as she tried desperately to stay calm. It was like when Harrison had died as Epsilon Thirteen; he was dying because he tried to save someone else. Why her?! He should have done this fo someone more deserving! Her eyes even flickered toward Circe, Caelius' only physical support. That b***h needed to die. She had to. It was their job to kill her...
Candace! Candace, listen! Hey! Hey! Listen! I'm talking here! Atropos was being as obnoxious as could be to get Candace's attention. Cndace paid her no mind yet. CANDACE PENNINGTON. You will not grab that scythe! You have bandages! See if it isn't too late to help him! SNAP OUT OF IT! Ohhhhh how she wished she could slap Candace right now! Candace paused, looking down at the bag that had fallen out of her robe. Heal him...? But he...
It was worth a try. Candace gently laid Jerry down to pick up her bag and dump out all of its contents, sifting through it all until she found what she was looking for. Bandages. Now she wasn't an expert in first aid, and it showed. The bandages, while wrapped with the most tender loving care, showed her inexperience. They were sloppy but they'd have to do. She leaned over Jerry again. Wake up, wake up!
"Jerry? Baby.." Candace was not the religious type, but you could bet your a** she was praying he'd be okay. "Wake up, honey. Please." Candace leaned in to press her forehead against Jerry's, not wanting it to be obvious just how not emotionally okay she was right now. Wake up...
[Candace used bandages on Jerry!]

Savior looked up as she felt someone approach, her body bristling and ready to attack, though she settled herself down once the figure started speaking. They'd come to help her maybe, at least they were holding arms out as though they were intending to help, and the Marrowstripe blearily looked at this newcomer as though they were an angel. "Can't stand. Don't nos."
Moving her body was easy, standing had been the hard part, so when it came time to embrace the other girl the monster had no problem and she did it eagerly. She might have felt bad if she knew how badly she smelled, like a torched orange that was spoiling under the sun, but a heavy growl and groan of pain was all she could manage to utter. "Ugh. Huuuurrts." Savior was lightweight, very much so, so if this new ghoul really wanted to lift her she would have had no problems whatsoever.

Tybalt cursed, morphing back into his student form and getting shakily to his feet.
He couldn't find them... Did they get hit by the flames too? Were they dead? He didn't want to think of them as dead. Hopefully they were fine and it was just him being stupid or something and not spotting them... That had to be it... right? But where were they...? His teammates, his friends... Where were they?

Mandy's attention snapped towards Calder at his comment, "Wait you mean they where converting people he-"
A voice interrupted Mandy, halting her questionioning as she listened in confusion and slight dread. It was their fault wasn't it...
Wait, what how was he going to save the-
Mandy screamed as the wall of fire rushed towards her, obliterating students in their wake. She had a second to think about how at least it would be quick before the flames engulfed her.
It should be noted here that fur doesn't mix well with. It has a tendency to catch and burn.
It was not quick. It heat and flame and pain that went on and on and on.
Mandy rolled on the ground screaming in harsh inhumane cries as she tried to put out the flames engulfing her body.
In her panic and pain the surge of healing Fear went unnoticed.

Gargantuan had never been a particularly intelligent beast, but this was far beyond his understanding. Two voices? Two? Saving? It all happened so fast that he hardly knew what was going on, but Red's voice had changed again. No longer could he hear sounds of the professor--this was sheer terror.
The flames roared from the maw of the monster, and Gargantuan backed up with a fearful slap of his tail. Fire was bad! In fact--fire was hot. Everyone was falling, dying all around him, and there was a hoarse, mournful sound deep in Gargantuan's throat. He really was useless. He couldn't even save his friends!
That was when the fire consumed him.
He twitched, flinched, and moaned in fear, but for whatever reason, the fire didn't hurt. It was cold--but warm!--and Gargantuan realized suddenly that for whatever reason, he was still alive.
Why? Why was he allowed to live, when the other students couldn't? They deserved it more than him, and the swamp beast moaned again, covering his face with his enormous hands.

"I know, come." A smile replaced her uncertain frown as the ghoul did not pause to contemplate Natalia's offer. Into her arms the other leapt, and without a second thought the lemur was cradling the student instead of hoisting her to her feet. It seemed easier this way, even if the pressure of this Marrowstripe's tiny frame sent bits of stone deeper into her flesh. Struggling to keep this strange ghoul upward would only put both of their lives at risk...Holding on to her, however, would allow Natalia movement. She would be able to take the ghoul wherever in an instant if things got out of hand again.
Who cared if they had only just met...being close to someone in a time of need was always better than being alone.
Shrugging her shoulders and shifting the monster gripped in her arms about gently, Natalia waited a moment before thrusting upward. The smell hit her during a heavy breath, but was not mentioned. There seemed to be a million other things on her mind anyway. She was too preoccupied to worry about odors.
She probably didn't smell all that great either; the remnants of wet, burnt fur lingering on her pale white skin despite the transformation back.
Being so close also triggered the lack of familiarity, which she regarded with a curious glance toward the ghoul, shifting them back and forth before focusing on the path she staggered along. Nope, she didn't know who this one was. "Let us get you somewhere safe. I...I do not have any pills on me...but I am sure if we find one of your team members, they will be able to help? Or anyone, really..."
Then, in a softer tone she continued. "My name is Natalia. I wish this could have been done on better terms...but...it is a delight to meet you. I am glad to see you are not dead." Alright was what she meant...whoops. Her head bounced in a nod, eyes still sifting through the smoke, searching for coverage...searching for others.
She saw something move about to her left, and shifted away from it instinctually. She had to protect the monster just as she had to protect herself...but while her body continued to move forward and away from whoever it was, a familiar p***k of two black ears made her stall and then turn slowly.
"Tybalt?" A lift in her voice was evident. Yes. If it was him...then he was alive. And thank JACK for that!

Simone smiled to LW and gave a slight shrug before answering. “Yeah, I’m okay. A bit worse for wear, aching, and more bear than I was when I came into this, but okay.” She glanced towards Mortimer but refocused on Caelius and Red.
The dual voices startled her, causing her to bring a hand up to the side of her head. They needed to be saved? Saved?! This couldn’t be good, not good at all. Their time was ending? Not good. Not good! The demon popped her pumpkin pill as the behemoth flapped its wings to rise into the air. Her aches went away for a scant moment before the blue fire blanketed the field.
She cried out as the fire washed over her. Simone dropped to the ground on her hands and knees, her wings folded tightly against her back. When the fire and frost subsided, she shuddered and shakily pushed herself into a sitting position. Her skin tingled and was heated further, pinkened by the onslaught of the blaze. The frost didn't linger long with the increased warmth of her skin. Simone steamed lightly. "Ow..." She groaned, wrapping her arms about her middle. Curling her tail up against her hip, she looked around wit her brows furrowed. Where did everyone go? Where was LW? She had been right there.
"Tybalt? Kitten? Night, where are you?"
Shifting back onto her knees, she pushed herself up to her bare feet and staggered a little. Looking around, she hugged herself. So much chaos. Where had everyone gone? There had been so many before. [HP: 30 7/30 + 5 = 12/30 Battle Status: n/a Damage: n/a ]
