Down the road the drow went, following it towards the location of the town of Latent, where of course, if there were any survivors, that is where they would be. However, he moved at a slow rate, taking his time, so much that it even began to get dark.

Darkness. The drow lived in the dark, and to Beldaeyn, it mattered little, only maybe giving him a more safe feeling than being in sunlight, though he had grown use to the light due to being a part of the surface exploration team.

The town shouldnt be far now, as he could even see some forms of light in the distance through the trees. Possibly the lights of the town which illuminated it during the night.

Standing in the path before the man would be a pale and thin woman. Her hair was stark white and her flesh was almost equally as pale. However, her eyes were yellow as a cat's, and seemed to burn compared to her cold and light skin. Dressed in what appeared to be an all black form fitting leather suit, she watched the man come down the road with increasing interest.

It had appeared that there was someone in the road before him. Only unlike himself, this person seemed to be standing still rather than heading towards the town. And also, quite contrary to himself, where his skin was an ebony colour, her's was a pallid white colour. And those eyes, which just stared at him.

Normally, when people see drow, their first action would be either to run or attack, the race of dark elves having a bad reputation of course. Which some would foolishly say that the dark elves are misinterpreted, this however was not true. They are just as the stories tell, as horrible as what could be told. However, that did not mean that there were some who were pleasant.

Beldaeyn however was a typical drow warrior, cruel and relentless. However, that did not mean that he didnt have manners. Though he lacks respect for the surface weak races, that did not mean he catagorized everyone in the same groups. There were always exceptions. Also, he had learned that in such a place, away from the safety of the underdark, it was important to think before acting.

Now, what was odd is that this woman neither ran nor attacked... yet. Instead, she simply watched him. And he didnt exactly like the way she was looking at him. As he would pass by, his gaze would be locked to her's, his expression one of disdain.

She watched him alright. Like a piece of meat. Having not fed for an amount of time drove her to thirst, and here was a well presented meal. She didnt care if it was a normal elf or a drow, for either of the two would of course have blood.

As the drow would walk by, her gaze would not falter at all, and as he would turn his back and walk away from her, she would reach out and grab his shoulder.

As he felt the hand on his shoulder, he knew the answer to his unsaid question. This was obviously an attack, for why else would she be waiting for him at the road?

In one quick motion, he would whip around as he drew the shortsword at his right hip out of it's sheath, drawing the blade and slahing in the same quick motion at where her arm would be, as to sever it, for what she wore, being leather, would be easily cut by the adamantine blade, and also, with with it being form fitting, he doubt that there was some kind of defensive armour beneath it.

And when he turned around, the woman would be gone, the drow slashing at empty air, having disappeared at that moment of attack when he began to turn.

Nothing. His blade sung through air with a howl as it cut nothing. He looked around, and the woman was gone. Not to his left, not to his right, and not down either of the paths. Something was seriously not right with this situation, in the very least, he should at least see some sort of heat signature due to his infravision in the dark, however, there was nothing.

He really didnt like the look of this, and as he sheathed his shortsword, he reached back to draw his battleaxe from its leather thong which kept it attached to his back, turning wearily in case of an attack from any side.

When he finally turned a full circle, looking around for her, she would appear a distance away down the road, chuckling at him.

"What are you doing little elf?" She would ask, her voice drifting through the dark area like velvet as a smile played across her lips, fangs revealed.

He growled when he spotted the woman once again, laughing at him. He then realised what she was when he took a closer look. Her body emitted no heat, thus his infravision was rendered useless, and with the sight of those teeth, at their unnatural length, he simply put two things together and came to one conclusion. Vampire.

It made sense though. She moved so silently and so quickly, and it was dark, lacking sunlight, and that may be why she even appeared in the first place. Quite frankly, he didnt want anything to do with such a creature.

"Just stay the hell away from me." he shouted across the distance as he began to back away down the other side of the road. Not that he was a coward, but he was smart enough to know when to fight something that he could, and when to run from something he couldn't. And a vampire, though he could fight it, would prove rather pointless as he had no real way of tracking such a thing for signs of attack or even killing it with his conventional weaponry. And he was not going to stick around and be dinner for this thing. Afterall, he was just a mortal.

"And why is that, little elf?" she asked, and when he turned to face her she reached out to stroke the side of his face lovingly.

As the voice would be heard from right behind him, Beldaeyn would almost jump as he whipped around. And as the woman would reach out at him, he would quickly back away, holding his weapon at the ready, saying nothing in return.

It seemed that the elf was too smart for little charms and tricks. How sad, she could have had some fun with this, and she frowned at that thought. However, she couldnt let her meal escape, so as he backed away, she made her move.

Countanance changed from pleasant to threatening, she lunged forward, fangs bared at the elf.

It would have happened eventually, and he had been expecting it. Without time to make an effective swing of the battleaxe at such a close distance and little time, he twisted his upper body and swung around with as much force as he could create with such a movement at the form which lunged at him, his axe's razor head swinging from his right to his left as his right hand rested just below the axehead and his left hand held onto the lower quarter of the weapon's haft.

As he twisted his body around to bring the lethat weapon at her, her left hand went and pushed against his right hand, positioned underneath the blade of his weapon in order to hold it back as she went at him.

Her right hand however, went and slashed at his body at a diagonal angle, her fingernails strong as claws, starting from the elf's left shoulder to his hip.

Pushed off balance from the odd position, Beldaeyn stumbled backa step as the woman's hand came down at him. Luckily, the clothing he wore was covered by adamantine armour - the same material his weapons were forged of - disguised to look as weak leather armour. With such a material, the claws would scrape against him with little effect.

With the head of the weapon having force pushed against it, he simply released his own force and let the woman's force add to his own as he swung the butt end of the weapon up at her head. He knew this would do no permanent damage against such a being, but at least it would probably give him some distance and time to think.
