Lily sat down, somewhere in a hallway. Heads in hands, breaths coming slowly and deeply. She was so confused. Or was she? Did she care for James, the same way he cared for her? Did he care for her at all? Was he still a git in this bloody place? Or was she? Why was she so against James?

"So, Sirius, got your eye on any girls for the Valentines Day dance?" Franki asked curiously. As much as she would love to ask him, she knew he may have a list made already. But, if she was lucky, which was unlikely, he would ask her.

Marketa looked down the table at the distant mention of a Valentine's Day dance. There had never been a dance at Hogwarts, not even a Yule Ball! This could actually be fun...if she had a date, that is.

"Well, since has Remus has been in hiding, I've been thinking bout Sunrise. She's cute, and funny, and it'd totally make Remus open his eyes." Sirius stretched out. "You? Wait- Let me guess, James? To get Lily jeolous."

"I wasn't sure," Franki said, all hope completely smothered. "There haven't been any other guys." She sent a long look at James. Franki frowned. "I was thinking about helping James, but worst comes to worst, I'll sit upstairs alone in the common room, reading, like always."

"Hey, who are you going to go to the dance with?" Ian asked Marketa. He smiled warmly, open to any answer from her.

"Aww. A good looking babe like you'll get someone." It was true. Sirius had seen plenty of guys checking Franki out.

Marketa turned to face Ian once she realized she was unintentionally eavesdropping. "Oh, me? I don't know, I tink I might just stay in de common room if no one asks me. I'm too shy to ask anyone." She shot him a crooked smile with a small blush.

"Aw, come on. I'm sure that someone will ask you. I mean, you are cute and interesting. I'm sure someone will ask you," Ian said with reassurance. He was tempted to say that he would take her but he wasn't sure how she felt about him, so he said nothing.
"Me, a good looking babe? I've been in your house for the past 6 or 7 years and you just started paying attention to me. I think I'm only notticed because I went out with James for a day. When a goth hangs out with a jock, it tends to draw attention. So, why don't you set up Remus with Sunny? I'm sure that would open Remus' eyes. And if it doesn't, I think that would be prime time for an intervention," Franki said with a smile and a slight chuckle.

Marketa blushed more fiercely and shook her head slightly. "No, I don't tink so. I've been here seven years, and so far I've only had one boyfriend and tat ended..." she fingered Yvonne's picture nervously, "...well, it was messy.... I don't want to go trough tat again." She sighed quietly, but smiled again. "If I tink I can trust him, den I would go, but no one has really noticed me lately...except you, of course."

"I'm sure that others have noticed you," Ian said softly. He smiled at her. "Hey, if you don't want to sit up in the common room, you might be able to go with me." He chuckled. "I'd go with you."

Marketa's eyes widened drastically, and she blushed with an almost sickening hope. It suddenly drained as quickly as it returned. She visibly withdrew into herself and stared determinedly down at Yvonne's picture as a sort of sickening reminder. "Oh, Ian, I don't know. I mean...you would really take me? You're not just asking me to be nice, yeah? Because...der is...a certain...level of trust dat I have to have in someone before I can move past any sort of friendship. You understand, yeah?" She hoped she hadn't been too forward, but she had to be sure before doing anything with anyone.

Ian smiled. "No, it's not just to be nice. You would be a great date. And you can trust me. I won't run out on you," he said kindly, putting his hand at the halfway point of the table.

Marketa finally looked up, her blush of embarrasment replaced with one of happiness. "You mean it? Well...okay, I'll go. I tink I'll have a very good time," she said with a smile. She looked down at his hand, vaguely wonderinig what he wanted her to do with it. She wasn't too fond of physical relationships because of what it brought about, but maybeb this would be different. Maybe this time he would keep true to his word and not run if he fould out. Being more brave than her usual Why-Am-I-In-Gryffindor attitude, she casually dropped her hand onto the table, strategically landing it on top of Ian's.
