Oh, Ariella, I personally think that they're older in the movie than they are in the series. And you might be right about the Touga thing, as far as him dying and that's why Shiori hates Juri, but I personally think it's a reference to Ruka who was with Shiori but didn't really love her?

You'll have to watch it a couple more times, but some stuff really does build on the series, especially the fact that the castle is an illusion, though it's more like a monster mashing machine in the movie. Then there's the whole fact that Akio drugs Anthy instead of just plain old having sex with her. I think her freewill in the movie reflects who she was at the end of the series, which is basically the biggest reason I don't think it's a recap. Add to that the fact that the attitudes of most of the characters are altered to some extent and the whole Utena/Touga relationship *urges you to watch the rose garden scene again*

There's way too much symbolism in the movie to comprehend it x.x I think we all enjoy referring back to the Saionji hair eating >.> Even if I hate series Saionji sometimes, I just LOVE his hair in the movie. It's so AWESOME! And not nearly as dull and lifeless as in the series, even if he only makes the one appearence. *Also happens to believe that Utena's will and intentions are more strongly felt by herself in the movie than in the series* Her total transformation in the movie is enough symbolism to keep you going for hours x.x

Sorry if I keep posting about the movie, it just, sort of happens to be my passion ^^' It's what originally got me into Utena so I'll always stick by it.

Ahhh...all the cool holiday songs are playing on the radio, I'm nearly done with Christmas shopping, and we're putting up the tree. The season has really sunk in, ya know? I can't wait till we make the bread pudding and the rum balls...this time of the year is so peaceful and warm...like my sofa...in front of the tree...listening to Bing sing...gaaaaah...lovely

Heh, I feel like a big lazy cat, cause all I wanna do is just curl up and lay around, with my hot cider in a steaming hot mug...cater to my selfish whims, I say!
