Gwin and Alysson were dimly aware that they were shifting in some sort of container, careful and not very far away. Gwin swirled protectively around Alysson, and Albus chuckled. "You have no need for bravery at this moment, my dears." he spoke softly, only slightly worried his breath would blow the spirits away. He glanced down at the small, make-shift container that he had held them in. The jar was far to small for both spirits, and he chuckled a little. He prodded the dragon's ash a bit to make the vortex a titch bigger. He had hoped that this would worked, and had based his hopes on assumptions and ancient folk-lore. For a long moment he simply looked at his work. The thing he was staring at was like a vortex, smashed with a tesseract. In essence, he had just done the impossible. "And didn't have a spare piece of parchment to record it." he mused under his breath. It should have a name, such a brilliant thing: One that held the very soul of a being, that preserved it from making it's choice to become a ghost, or simply move on. He briefly wondered the genius of his plan. He pursed his lips and briefly pondered if the girls would rather simply move on. His doubts were eliminated though, when both soul-lights thrashed wildly, as if hearing his very thoughts. "How interesting...." Dumbledore mused, tugging at his beard. Just as he settled himself into a more observatory position, there was a sharp rap at the door.
"Yes?" Albus called, not entirely one for being interrupted at such an entreating moment. But it merely turned out to be another teacher hollering through the wood door about students fearing wild animals on the loose. He made sounds of egknowlagement at all the appropriate times, and tacked a "I will make note of it." at the end of the rambling. After a long pause, the Headmaster said, "You know, for being midnight, I am actually in the middle of a rather pressing matter. I will be for a few days, at least. Let the staff know of this, and decide matters amongst yourselves." he practically snapped. At the sound of retreating footsteps, Albus focused his full attention back to the two girls. "What have I done?" he asked soberly.

It was Monday. Normally, this would have been bad enough, but add to that most people tired from staying up at the dance. And for a few.... Deep grief, and shock that wouldn't fade for awhile. Rumors ran rampant, and those close to Gwin and Alysson felt their absence keenly. It did not help that strange things were happening at Hogwarts... On Sunday, there were three reports of seeing a creature prowling about the fourth floor.

Leah was still somewhat in shock, and walked around as if preoccupied. She heard nothing of the wild beast, which may of been a good thing. It only would have reminded her of normal circumstances - Usually, the Rogues would have been the first looking for the creature. She went through the day, her vocabulary reduced to nearly mono-syllabic answers or non-committal grunts, unless answering a teacher. Most teachers had the sense not to ask questions. Curious students' questions were met with a blank stare, and then Leah would walk away. Talking [0seemed much too much of an effort as she tried to process the impossible. By second period that day, she wasn't talking at all.

Kailyn, on the other hand, was taking it well - As well as one can take the death of a good friend, that is. Her strategy was to distract herself, but it worked only intermittently. She occupied herself with taking care of Leah and Nadia, warding off questions, and although she had convinced herself it was the least of her concerns.... looking for the guy she had met what seemed like forever ago.

James acted mostly as he usually did, albeit a bit more subdued. He did his best to support Lily as well, somehow always there if she needed a handkerchief. He would crack a joke at a meal, laugh, but then trail off into silence as he remembered the weekend's events.

Professor Trenway was a very busy woman. On top of her usual classes to teach, she was investigating the horrific event, supervising other teachers in the hunt for the rumored wild beast, and worst of all: Dumbledore had locked himself in his office, and forbid any disturbances. As the one who had last talked to the Headmaster, she was plagued by teachers wanting to know what was going on. After a lengthy conversation with Minerva McGonagall, and then a discussion with most of the teachers, it was decided that the Transfiguration teacher would be temporarily in charge, with Zatanna Trenway and Filius Flitwick second in command, respectively. As one who had been almost first at the scene of the crime, it was voted that she make a speech at supper, to help dispell rumors and calm things down. Not that she was very happy about this, but... It simply couldn't be helped.

It was potions with the Slytherins, and Kailyn was slightly happier than her house-mates. Who ever he was, he was a Slytherin, and perhaps she would catch sight of him - Recognize his smile, make eye contact by chance and find out who it was. It bugged her, not knowing. She quickly put it out of her mind, or at least behind the more pressing manners; Hardly anyone wanted to be in class that day, yet Potions Master Slughorn barely seemed to notice the proverbial cloud that had fallen over the school. If he had, he pretended not to notice, probably believing that business as usual would help restore the sense of normalcy. Perhaps it did, if only a little bit. Kailyn concentrated as well she could, stopping Leah just in time from ruining her potion and possibly destroying everything in a five-foot radius as well. Her mind kept wandering, however, as did her eyes from time to time. Who could it be?

Severus Snape, who funnily enough had heard nothing beyond 'something funny going on', smirked. Anything that could have made the Rogues (Minus Gwin? That was curious.) so dejected had his applause, unless it was product of the Marauders. He still would laugh, though.... But what? The Marauders subdued as well? Surely it hadn't been one group pranking the other, then. Perhaps so many blows exchanged that both were beaten - A theory which he accepted happily. It sure made his life easier! Severus, passing the Rogues on the pretext of borrowing Hen's Teeth, snickered. "Who washed you up and hung you out to dry? You're acting as if someone died or something." He smirked, ready to step away quickly - Leah would usually have tried to smack him for that, or at least ruin his potion.

Sirius, alas, was still having difficulty absorbing their deaths. He now allowed himself to admit that Gwin had been alright. A bit of a prat at times, but goodness knew he deserved it. And yes, he had rather liked--be nicer, he chided himself--been fond of her. As for Alysson, he hadn't known her terribly well. But it was shocking how he missed her, for her face was familiar, and its absence between classes and in the Great Hall discomfited him.

His thoughts were interrupted by Remus. Rather, a sharp jab in the side. "You're supposed to be concentrating." No longer was his voice a friendly reminder. He sounded flat, and Sirius couldn't help but be irritated. "Beg your pardon. Some of us have other things to think about."

Nadia had heard enough. She bolted up from her stool knocking it over, her pony tail whipping in the air. Her eyes flashed in a sudden burst of anger. "Você ocupa-se? Apenas porque você fura seu nariz gordo excedente francês em todos elasticidade do dosen't do buisness dos elses você a direita mock o que estão sentindo! Eu ought curse seu wand acima de seu nariz, torcer seu cérebro ao redor, e puxá-lo para trás para fora. Não faria muito de uma diferença de qualquer maneira, você pé hind sujo de um camelo!" She gave a great huff and slapped him across the face. Making a profound smack, and a painfully profound scarlet hand mark arcoss his left cheek. She glared dangerously, grabbed her stool, slammed it down behind the table, muttering more in her native Portugese. Nadia practically was spitting with anger, somehow taking it out on her potion with ferocous stirring and sloshing it in her cauldron. Noticing Severus still standing there she glared p at him. "Comece-o movente preguiçoso-" realizing she was still speaking in another language, Nadia bagan again pushing her stray hair out of her face. She took a deep breath and seemed to calm herself before demanding, "Would you mind moving?" She asked exasperativly. Noticing the many stared from around the room, Nadia's face flushed red as she returned to her potion.

[Ooc: Translation - Do you mind? Just because you stick your overly french fat nose into everyone elses buisness dosen't give you the right to mock what they are feeling! I ought to curse your wand up your nose, twist your brain around, and pull it back out. It wouldn't make much of a difference anyways, you dirty hind foot of a camel!]

Kailyn had opened her mouth to... But Nadia saved her the trouble. Portuguese? Nice. She thought dryly. Severus looked taken aback at the normally placid Gryffindorian's response, as well as hopelessly confused. She raised her eyebrows at him. "Too much time with your nose in a book?" She asked rhetorically. "If you never payed attention to anything in your whole life, save one thing, it would of been this." She lowered her voice, glaring a glare that might have split solid rock. Wordlessly she pointed to Leah, who was staring at the floor blankly, withdrawn into herself, yet pain still obvious on her face. "For your information, Mr. Sensitivity Snape, someone did die." And not just anyone, either....
Severus was shocked. Shocked at Nadia yelling at him in... Spanish? Portuguese? At Leah, who seemed beyond 'not all here', leaning towards 'completely gone'. At Kailyn, who, of the Rogues, had scorned him the least. And above all, that in his sarcasm, he had been spot-on. Kicking himself for ever coming over to gloat at their misfortune in the first place, Severus opened his mouth to try and say something, anything, but instead shut it firmly and walked back to his seat. Gwin. It must of been Gwin... Was all he could think as he numbly stirred his potion.

As Sirius watched the scene before him, he felt an extreme sense of ambivalance. He was quietly thrilled that, at last, Snape had been told off. In Portuguese, no less. But a thousand times greater than that was the sadness that set in when he was reminded about Gwin. And all I ever did was set her off...

{{Such long posts. D; And I hardly know what to say. >< }}

Luke was at the back of the classroom through all of this. He watched numbly as everyone conversed, until that one girls huge explosion. He looked merely amused, until another girl ("Why does she look familiar?") pointed out that someone had, in fact, died.
"So they really are dead..." he muttered to himself quietly. Stirring his potion idly, he looked at the last girl to speak again. He racked his brain trying to place her face... He must have a lot of classes with her. "Surely that's it..." he thought, even though that didn't seem right. Her face turned slightly in his direction when she turned back to her potion, and it all came to Luke at once. His hand flew to his cheek automatically...

....But Kailyn noticed nothing, occupied as she was. She sat Leah down and set her wand out of easy reach, checked on Nadia, then dumped the next ingredient her potion just in time. She glanced over at Leah, who was... just sitting there. Kailyn sighed and shook her head. "If anyone has ever needed the Imperius curse...." She muttered to herself. She couldn't cast it of course, but goodness gracious! When Slughorn was turned around, Kailyn swiftly filled two beakers with her now finished potion, labeled them 'Kailyn' and 'Leah', and scorgified both cauldrons. Leah stirred slightly, and looked at Kailyn and Nadia with a dazed expression. "Get me outta here please." She whispered, and Kailyn nodded, leaning over to whisper to Nadia. "You go ahead and finish your potion, I'll take her."

"Professor Slughorn, may I take Leah here to the infirmary? She isn't feeling well, and we've both finished."

Remus straightened up. "Kailyn," he mumbled, in a low voice. He held something square out to her. "Not saying it's a cure-all or anything, but--well, give it to Leah. It helps," he told her sincerely. "Honeyduke's finest."

{{Sorry, I'm stealing Slughorn for a moment~~}}

Professor Slughorn nodded at Kailyn, looking over towards the Slytherins. "Here, why doesn't..... Luke, will you help take Leah to the infirmary?" The potion's master asked with a jolly smile on his face. Luke was one of his favourite students... he could go great places with Slughorn's help!

It took a moment for Luke to realize what had just happen. Playing it like a true Slytherin, he wrinkled up his nose at the two Gryffindors. "Yes, Professor..." he answered in a bored tone, walking quickly over to the two girls.

Kailyn nodded her thanks to Remus, accepting the chocolate with a quick, grateful smile. Slinging both her bag and Leah's over her shoulder, she placed Leah's arm over her shoulder and looked at the Slytherin who had suddenly appeared next to them, deciding that she totally didn't need his help. Not to mention that it was bad enough with Kailyn being taller than Leah, thus having to either crouch down or pull up, and Luke was even taller then she was.... Kailyn made a face. Taking off the two bags, she dumped them into Luke's arms and scooped up Leah herself. "Thank you, professor." She said politely, nodding to him and the rest of the class cordially as she swept out of the room. I hope that was suitably embarrassing.... She thought, not in a particularly good mood. Then again, why should she be? One of her good friends had just died, after all.

Luke raised an eyebrow as Kailyn left without him. "Alright then, obviously she doesn't recognize me..." he thought to himself, sauntering out after her. He heard a few people snicker behind him "Probably some of those Gryffindorks...", but it didn't bother him. Sighing, Luke caught up to Kailyn and tapped her. "Any particular reason you found that neccesary, may I ask?" he asked in a calm, but somewhat cold voice. Her pace was no match for Luke's long stride, so there was no way she could get away without putting her load in danger.

He's calm. Slightly annoyed I think, but at the very least, outwardly calm. Kailyn sniffed. "If we put her arms around both our shoulders, either we would have to crouch down, or she would be hanging in mid-air. And seeing as I don't know you, I don't trust you to carry her; thus I found the best option to be to carry her myself." She looked up at him. "Got a problem with that?" His voice, his expression, even his build, is familiar. It has to be.... But what are the chances?
