Her eyes snapped open from her rest. Something seemed to be moving in her belly. The cubs couldn't be born yet! Oh, but they definately felt like they wanted to go into the world. Getting up, she made her way outside of the caves. Most of them already had inhabitants, and others she really didn't want to approve. Outside would be best, she thought as she stepped through the grasses.

Leanna found many places to give birth, but they were not to her liking. She would have to be less picky as the pains came at a slight faster rate. Finally, the lioness came upon a small secluded area near to the spot where she first came to this pride. The brush was tall here and seemed to bend over like a small canopy. The grasses were taller and soft enough for the cubs. Settling down on her side, she took in a few deep breaths then prepared herself for the first cub.

The first cub was fast to come out as the little girl slide from her mother's canal. She mewed loudly, her eyes glued shut as she tried to find the warmth of Leanna's belly. The lioness chuffed as she brought her daughter close, licking the fluids off her fur with her course, but soothing tongue. Leanna got a good look at her child. The cub was a pink furball with a lace colored face. Her forepaws were dark red with her tail having dark red markings. The feathers were hot pink and black as well as the flakes, all three were black. Her heart skipped a beat as she saw a bit of Mika'il in this one. She was beginning to nudge the little one toward her belly when the second one came

This one was a harder birth. She had to push a little as if to coax him out. Leanna began to wonder if she even had another cub when suddenly, she heard the shrill cry of her son. He seemed angry as he was pushed from his mother. He didn't stop crying until Leanna's warm tongue bathed his skin. His coat was magenta, save for his hind paws which were hot pink, with black tigerstrips on his forepaws and tail. He had lace colored line markings over both of his eyes that made him seem like a warrior. His feathers were the same as his sister's: hot pink and black. The flakes were different on him though. They were the same as his coat making it appear as if he didn't have anyway.

The Desert Queen licked her children thoughouly. She heard the cries of her son as if he protested the babying habits of his mother. Her daughter, on the other hand, seemed quite content with the bath and didn't mind all the attention. She gave a little smile and nudged them to her belly letting them have their first meal of their lives. Leanna let herself rest wondering about Mika'il and their current situation. Now that the cubs were born, it would change things, basically. Maybe her idea would still be able to stand. If the cubs went with Mika'il, then things would be alright. She would be able to stay until Ling sees fit to let her go. But, would he ever let her go?

She sighed and curled around her cubs as they began to sleep. She purred nuzziling their little bodies softly. These cubs did not know the situation their mother and father were in, and it would best stay that way until they were older and wanted to know. Leanna looked up to the sky beginning to wonder if Mika'il was here at all. She really did wish he was there for the birth of his children. The magenta gave a littel sigh and closed her eyes. All she could do now was rest until she got her strength to take the cubs back to the cave. Hopefully they would be strong enough to.

Mika trotted through the undergrowth, rose eyes swinging back and forth. He could smell Leanna, smell something. Growling in the back of his throat he continued to follow her trail. The smell was growing stronger. There was something - or somethings - with her.

The cubs.

The Desert King exploded into a run and skidded to a halt before his mate. The brush had shielded her from view until he had been in front of her. "Leanna!"

She awoke with a start causing the cubs to awake as well. The male gave another annoyed cry and snuggled closer to his mother not exactly liking the intruder. The magenta leaned over and bathed him with her tongue until he quieted. She did the same to her daughter who seemed to have fallen back asleep instantly. The magenta looked over at her mate and smiled. "Hello, Mika." She gave a small little chuff and looked down at the cubs. "Here are your children...a princess...and a prince." Her smile turned into a fond one as she watched them sleep.

Ling sighed as Nuri attended to himself. He was not convinced that nothing was wrong, but he would not press matters. He watched as Leanna left the cave, and Nola entered. He nodded to the teen lioness and smiled. "Well done Nola..a zebra, on your own.." he chuckled and moved to nuzzle against her side. He looked over his shoulder at Nuri, worry in his eyes, his advisor looked in need of something, but if he was not willing to talk, Ling would not make him.

Nuri had been waiting until the wanderer and the visiting king left Ling some time between stressors and to greet Nola. The zebra had indeed been a good catch. "Ling, I do have something to speak with you about, but wanted to wait so that you would not have too many things to worry about at once..." A small smile decorated his brightly-colored face as he sat up straight. The paw-licking had merely been a topic- and time-killer.

"If you have something on your mind, Nuri, please, do not hessitate to tell me. I am the king, it is my job to be stressed out." He laughed and moved over to his friend. He batted playfully at him, the way a child would with a playmate. "You are growing old my friend...talk to me, tell me what it is the troubles you."

Nuri's ears flattened, more out of surprise than anger, as he swatted Ling on the shoulder. "Old?" The dark lion snorted. "What troubles me is how you may react to news of Pastel... Last night while I was off patrolling she found me and revealed a secret she had been keeping from the pride." He looked Ling in the eye. "She was afraid of what you might do to her when you found out that she is carrying your cubs. So I stayed outside with her until things began to settle down then brought her back to the cave to rest." Looking away, Nuri chuckled faintly. "We may not be hurting for the loss of Leanna for long, after all..."

Ling was full of good humor as Nuri swatted back, he was in a pouncing position before long, ready to tackle his advisor when Nuri broke the news. The king's tail fell flat behind him and his hed rose ever so slightly from the ground. There was obvious confusion in his eyes as the toher spoke of 'his' cubs. "Where is Pastel now?" His voice had once more taken on that serious tone that he got when business was at hand. It was more than obvious that Ling had been oblivious to this for a long long time. "Why would she be afraid of telling me?" His shoulders tensed and he looked at Nuri with a serious stare.

"There are several reasons I'm sure... but what it comes down to is she trusts very few. Apparently that includes you," he shrugged with an apologetic smile. "Last I saw her, she was in the cave..." He sighed, hoping Ling would be particularly understanding with her. "I think this is her first litter, Ling. Would you like me to go with you when you speak with her?"

"I leave that up to you, my friend..." He sighed and shook his head, obviously he was less than thrilled, but he would be kind, and calm with Pastel. "I will not be cruel to her...they are my cubs...it will be hard explaining it to Xia..but.." He lowered his head and started walking othe back of the cave, perhaps she would have hidden away there.

"Hm," Nuri smiled to himself and followed Ling inside. His biggest fear had been linked to receiving Pastel's news at the wrong time, but Nuri had managed to find a right time. Nevertheless, he wanted to be there for Pastel.

Ling sighed and moved onward. He heard some mewling in the back of the cave, great, just great, not only was she having his cub, but she'd HAD his cubs. He moved further back, seeing the outline of the pale lioness, the cubs laying before her. He also took note that the new cub was ther as well. 'Hmm...he must have wandered away from Nola and Akira..' He looked down at Akanu and smiled. "Little one...I beg a word with this lioness. Why do you not go play with some of the other cubs? Queen Xia would be happy if you took my sons and daughter off her paws for awhile." He patted the young one's head before stopping before Pastel.

Meribelle was no where to be seen. She was always away from the eyes of the pride, so it seemed, as she walked about the lands. Over time she had come to be a loner, wondering about the oasis, silently admireing the beauty, whilst escaping from the pride drama. Oh how many times a day did she dream of what her life would have been like, had her father's pride still survived,...
She missed the guidance that her friends and family had given her as a young cub. As a teen now though, the lioness was lost to her own dreams. She thought about this current pride, Lings pride. The drama here scared her. Why? she didn't know,..she just knew she tried her best to stay out of the way; thus this is why she wondered the lands of the pride. It let her be out of the way, and away, while doing some sort of job though it was self-appointed.
Meribelle walked on and shoke her head, her light blue hair falling over an eye, almost covering the star on her fore-head.

Pastel starred up at Ling as he towered over her. She was scared, and it showed in her eyes. She pulled the cubs closer to her, half thinking that he might try and kill them. "I'm sorry Ling...I..I didn't mean to hide it from you...I'm so sorry my king.." She lowered her head, covering her kittens ready to die for them if need be. She noticed Nuri behind Ling but didn't say anything to him for the time being.

Ling sighed and shook his head at Pastel. "I do not care if you told me or not...but hiding the fact..." He looked at Nuri. "You confided in Nuri when you could not confide in me, and that means alot to me...but....I think I deserved to know.." He said all this, looking at nuri. "I understand that Nuri has become your...confidante...so be it..." He chuckled and looked to the chidlren in her care. "They are lovely...perfect...you should be proud.." He started to move away from her then, not wanting to linger here much more than he truely had to.
