Ling looked up and back at Akira and Nola as they both spoke up. He smiled and nodded his head to them both. Though they were both adults now, they stayed with him. He was so thankful for that. "Thank you...both of you. Forgive me for not having spent more time getting to know you.." He sighed. If anything that is what he regretted the most. "Adelle...thank you for all of this..You have been a big help to me...you are truely wise...and Xia and I both thank you for being here with us.
Kuan-Yin rolled out of Ling's hold and moved about the cold ground, jumping and batting at Adelle's tail before hearing Nola and Akira. He moved over to them, tripping on his tail from behind and stumbling to the floor with a flop.

As the little cub tripped and fell Nola reached her paw out to help him up again. "Easy little prince." She then nodded to Ling and her mother.
"You are welcome Ling. Remember my mind is at your service. If you need anything you have but to ask." The purple lioness said as she layed down. This conversation had gotten her feeling old again but she didn't mind.

Adelle had not gone unnoticed. Through his misery, Nuri's senses were heightened; had he somehow managed to sleep, a shift in Pastel's weight nearby or the near-silent approach of another lion large or small would have seen him awake and ready to act. Not to fight, probably at least to jump for he refused to run. Sleep was unlikely however, and he attempted a smile for Adelle, though it was devoid of humor. After she left, he could not help but hear at least some of Ling's conversation. What he heard, he had only added to Ling's torment, which he did not want to do. Somehow the green markings on his face became greener, sicklier; the purple remained grey and pasty.

Meribelle was making her way back to the pride's cave. She had finished her walk a long while ago, but now she figured it best to head back, in case she was needed. She paused a little as she neared the doorway, ears twitching, as if to listen to what was going on inside, before she made the decision to enter. There was alot of conversation going on, and a heavy feeling in the air that made the young lioness uneasy. She'd be resting outside in the lighter air tonight. She caught the scent of new cubs as she made her way through the cave silently. She wondered whose they were, but decided not to ask. The only cubs she had been aware of before were Ling and Xia's. But in the end it was really none of her business,..she'd find out sooner or later. Mostly by evesdropping, which was how she seemed to aquire all her information. She found a placed and layed down, and took to grooming herself. She liked to try to keep clean, and look presentable, even if the kept to herself much of the time.

Nola stood and streched before licking Akira's cheek. Well we had better get going if we are to have enough to feed this pride this evening." She trotted out of the cave and looked to the side seeing Meribelle. "Oh there you are. I was looking for you earlier. We need to hunt for food and I wanted you to come along. Right now we are limeted to only the three of us for hunting and hunting alone is very dangerious." She looked at the younger lioness and smiled. "Please come help."

Meribelle looked up to the lioness with her wide blue eyes, "huh? Oh,..Oh Okay!" She jumped up, a bit imbarrased at her little fumble. This would be her first hunt, so she really didn't know how to react, but she was willing and ready.

Pastel had drifted to sleep, her cubs curled beside her. When Nuri moved she stirred, his eyes fluttering open as she felt him look around. She shifted her head to rest it on his paw. "You need rest Nuri...You've done nothing wrong..." She licked his paw and sighed. "If you are truely worried..you should go ask Ling himself if he blames you..."

"No...no..." His words were distant, as if he were only half listening. Such was not the case, in fact he had been aware of her stirring, and had forced himself not to recoil at her touch. He needed to get out and walk off this nervous energy, but there was no way he would leave, especially after a direct order from Ling. Sleep was totally out of the question. "It'll be all right, Pastel. You and the cubs need to sleep."

Pastel sighed and looked at Nuri, she could tell he was restless. She could tel lhe needed to get away, it wasn't fair that Ling had trapped him here with her, he had no obligation to her, not in the least. "Nuri...I'm sorry...it's my fault that you are stuck here...Ling is mad because of what's happened..." She shook her head. "I haven't helped things at all."

Nuri turned to Pastel and smiled gently. "What I have done is not your fault. Whatever Ling feels fit to have me do is probably more than I deserve at this point. Xia is his, and he hers... it has always been that way. I suppose you would have had to see them when they were both cubs like I did... It was so obvious, or at least, looking back now it is..." His eyes slid slowly downward to look at the ground. "I have never had something like that... but what I did was unforgiveable."
After a moment or two lost in dark thought, a movement from one of the cubs drew his eyes to them. Watching them brought a smile back to his face. Finally he said, voice barely more than a whisper, "Though I feel guilty, this..." he glanced up at Pastel, "is not a burden to me. I hope you can realize that."

Pastel felt her heart ache, the way that Nuri spoke of the king and queen was not the words of someone that had intentionally hurt them, not that Nuri would have, but...
Pastel looked down at the cubs on the ground, her eyes following one about as he moved. She smiled sadly. "Nuri...love....true love...if something that people find very rarely, those that find their partner in life are the lucky ones, but even those that don't..." She sighed, turning her head from him. "even those that don't, find love in very odd places."
She turned her eyes back to him, as if that one line had been hard to say. "If you did wrong to the king, I know you did not mean to hurt him...if you did you wouldn't be hurting like this Nuri...and I think Ling knows that."

Akira nodded his respect for Ling once more before joining Nola at the entrance of the cave "ready when you ladies are" he said smiling at the two females. 'finally my first hunt' he thought 'well better late than never' he thought chuckling a little and shaking off his mane.

Whether she was right about his pain or not seemed irrelevant when an idea struck Nuri. Pondering what she could have possibly been referring to about 'love' slipped his mind as he realized what all of this really could mean. Looking past the fact that they had history and that he was Ling's personal Advisor, lion-to-King had Nuri not challenged the king in his actions back then? Whether cubs were involved or not it was still a direct threat to the king's power, his bloodline. And to date, that challenge had not been answered. Granted Ling had only just now found out... but as he saw it, as with Shaitani and now Mika'il, he now had one of two choices: fight Ling, or leave the pride.
Nuri's heart sank and with it his head to his front paws. With a sigh he muttered, voice muffled through his paws, "Well, I always thought this wouldn't be permanent... I suppose I should count myself lucky." Now, all he could do was wait for the King to return before announcing his resignation. He refused to fight, even if somehow Ling would force the issue.

Ling sighed and nodded to those that were leaving, and also to Adelle. "Thank you Adelle, I will keep that in mind." With a low groan he moved from the spot at the front of the cave, his body moving to lay beside his mate. He kept looking to the back of the cave, Nuri...Pastel...Xia. Things were so complicated now. He looked into the shadows and called out. "Nuri...come to me please..." He sighed and lowered his head. It was better to confront it now, get it settled. He had Mika'il to deal with, and he still had no clue what to do about that..

Pastel blinked at Nuri as he spoke. She couldn't understand his words, what was not perminant? "What are you talking about Nuri?? What's not perminant?" There was the slightest edge of worry to her words, could he be thinking something drastic? She hoped not. "I'm sure it will all work out Nuri...it has to."
Xia nuzzled against her king as he came near. She could sense he was tense, and even heard abit of the conversation before. She was taking a risk, he could very easily hurt her for what happened and she didn't want to take that chance, but she loved him, she had to let him know it. She lowered her voice to a whisper, "He has done more help than not, Ling..." She sighed and licked his face.
