What the bloody hell?! And that had hurt! Not as much as his back hurt from slamming into that wall, but still!! For a second there, when Setsu was cupping his cheek, he thought she might actually be trying to show some compassion for his poor, frail, intellectual body, but no such luck.

Why were femmes so confusing?

"Oh, aye, I'll try t'make suir th'next divil robot only comes on me own time!" He got to his feet. "M'glad yuir alive too, by th'way."

Setsu's tail felt surprisingly supple. It was made mostly of scales and long fur, so he could not feel the chill of her dead flesh.

"If ye c'n hold it n'place, I think I saw a wire I c'n sever."

If he could bear to get close enough to press the thing, that is.

It was supposed to hurt. Kinda helps to get the point across. Though it was too dark to know what he was thinking, or if the idea got across. The undead could only hope so, knowing they had bigger things in their paws to worry over little mistakes.

Why were scientists so confusing?

Setsu held her tongue to the male's ranting, turning her head stubbornly to the side. It had been suggested that he stay behind, right? So there. No need for complaints. "Alive?" Her voice was monotone, poking at the misuse of the chosen word. But nevermind that.

A loud groan of sand grinding forced her to glimpse behind, though it was pointly in the dark. The machine was trying to move, but with only three limbs and a stiff neck to a bulky head, the movements were disrupted in the scoop of the tunnel. Sand was so pressurized in the crevices, it was enough of a bother on her control to keep it from exploding out of the fighting efforts.

"Best it can do is swipe or fall over..." He could try if he was certain. And so long as it was on the same side as the disabled leg, he should manage to reach it with...simpler ease.

The mechadog attempted to wrench its leg free of Setsu's sand pack, and though the pressurized sand held, Jabril knew that if the robot kept thrashing around it might bring the whole cavern down on them. Struggling in the bowels of the earth was very different from lounging around his his cosy cave. Jabril could feel the walls closing in on him, hard and unforgiving.

"I came t'watch ye! " Jabril sputtered. " Can ye' na bury the whole thing? Ye've seen me in action! I ha' thin bones! Think o' th' loss to science, Setsu! Surely ye cannae expect me t'get close to a canine wit'out-"

The scientist abruptly halted his train of thought. He didn't need to be able to make out Setsu's face in order to sense the kind of look she was giving him. If he kept talking like that, she would probably slap him again.

"Ne're mind. If I die, ye ha' t'get m'corpse to me Mum, yeh?"

He pulled his favorite scalpel out of his coat and tried to ignore the almost overpowering instinct to run.

....
"I haven't seen a thing, with how dark it is down here." And just what did he expect to learn watching her do all the fighting? Nothing but mischief, I swear. And at this point she didn't know which was getting more annoying, he repeated sounds and roars of the machine or the ranting complaints of the male next to her.

Withdrawing her tail, Setsu folded her arms while staring down Jabril's direction. And he must have felt it, cause he soon shut up. Hah, the power of a gaze, even in the dark. Even so, she replied coolly. "Burying it will bury us; you call that action?; then my bones are brittle; what a sad loss..." Was that everything?

A paw reached up to her temple, squinting over to the arguing machine. There was already so little sand, and the strength of the metals crunching it was more an effort to fight than against organic strength. All it would take now was for the canine to be in swinging reach of them to cause damage. Ears fell back to Jabril's statement, scoffing to how serious his statement sounded. "You're not going to die. What...need me to hold your paw now? It's dark, so it'd be like it neeever happened." With a monotone, it was hard to tell if she was serious or condescending.

Did she really need to talk down to him? Was that necessary? Not everyone could be a battle-hardened warrior, and Jabril was putting his life on the line for her.

There were times when Setsu could be really amazing. LIke when she walked back to the lab with her side gashed open and her heart's blood spilling all over the forest floor, or when she'd charged off to distract the from him. Those weren't scientific accomplishments, but they still almost managed to take his breath away.

It was too bad that the rest of the time she was kind of a b***h.

"An' I t'ought gettin' buried came natural to th'dead," he drawled. "Pr'aps I'll find out, then."

Jabril breathed in and out, and tried to get a handle on the wild, erratic beating of his heart. Terror enhanced his senses, making metal smell sharper and stone feel more rough under the pads of his paws. An interesting biological effect.

The scientist reared back on his hind legs and then blindly launched himself at the mechadog. He hit what felt like it must be the side of its body and used his claws to scramble up the rough carpet while the thing groaned and bucked. Once he came close to the machine's neck he plunged his scalpel into the neck joint where he thought he'd seen some exposed wiring. It might not do anything, might be nothing at all, and all his work might do left undone, rotting in an empty cave, his name might disappear from the annals of the mountain and his corpse might make this tunnel its tomb, he might die, he might die, he wasn't ready to die, he-

The mechadog collapsed with a loud electronic squawk. Jabril smelled ozone and felt every bit of his body light up with pain. Shock. An electric shock? He might have hit a live wire. Should have thought- but he wasn't thinking of much at all, sine his limb body had tumbled to the cavern floor.

All a thing of perspective. It could either be a negative thing, a talk-down, or a positive thing...a twist of encouragement. The thing to know about this femme was, she very rarely siad things in white. Always in shades of gray...as if to protect both herself and the guest of what she could truly say. Another reason she hardly spoke, just to keep the peace. But even that seemed to be a failing method. It's not what you say, it's how you say it......she just hadn't fully learned that yet.

"Tch." There was no comment to say about funerals. The monstrosity was still functioning so close to them, and Jabril needed this time to focus. Where he was feeling dread, she was feeling dull expectations. Any adrenaline in her had passed away with the sedatives. Only thing left was alertness.

The echo of swift steps hit her ears, and she could hear the same sound of fabric as she had earlier with her blade. Jabril was upon the thing? But what if it crushed against the ceiling? There was a scraping that soon foolowed with a creaking. He did it? Boots skipped as Setsu was forced to rush back and away from the collapsing metal that nearly filled the tunnel. And what was that wave of faint stench?

"Jabril?" The undead gagged to the taste on her tongue as she darted back to the wreckage, only to nearly trip on the other kitsu. "Hey now..." Cool paws flitted over his form, first thing in mind was to check for breathing. And once that was confirmed, then Setsu realized the static in his fur as her paws brushed through it. Of course...mechanics needed wires. A paw rested on his temple lightly. "Hey, can you hear me? Jabril."

Was someone talking to him...? Ugh, his vision was blurry and everything ached. Jabril wasn't cut out for a life of combat.

"Was a daft plan." He slurred. "Didnae know wha' I was cuttin. D'ye-"

He tried to struggle up onto his paws, only to slump back down to the floor.

"D'ye smell th'kit down 'ere? I cannae- everythin's wires. I feel-"

Think. How had his rabbit reacted to electro-shock therapy? Had he blacked out? was his fur singed? Did his heart skip some beats? He couldn't think straight. He shouldn't be happy he wasn't in agonizing pain.

Well, at least he had enough funstion to speak, even if it was jumbled. "True, but it was a plan that ultimately worked." Even now her tails were brushing over the nearest metals of the canine, tingling some over short circuits.

Paws withdrew as the other attempted to stand, though it was in vain. He took quite the fall then, for his frame, hadn't he? Guess the theory of feeble scientific bodies was true, despite all their humor to the topic. Indigo hair swayed as Setsu answered, speaking to make up for the darkness. "Most I'm smelling now is burnt fur. But even before, I hadn't smelt the kit's trail." But hey, they had stomped the cockroach like planned.

Giving a faint sigh and scuffing her boots on the floor, Setsu sat beside the scientist at the crook of his torso. What did he feel? She could only be certain that fatique was one of them after that little stunt. "Bravo, Jabs. That's deserving of rest." She carefully placed a paw over his eyes, encouraging them to close and dispell his weakness. It was better time spent than him stumbling around dizzy and tired. And by the time he'd wake, he'd find himself back in the main dorm of his cavern home.
