Bane glanced back. "Yes? What do you want? To warn me of more "oncoming danger"?" He grumbled. He felt the urge to kick the smaller buck, but resisted. If he did, Gwen (who was already in enough trouble as-is) and him would have to flee. And with Gwen in one of her ridiculous hiding places, it would be hard to create an escape.

Lumi lifted her head slightly as she heard Banes sudden seriousness. She sighed, feeling extremely childish for what she'd just done. She nudged at Herret and pushed him in the direction that they were about to go. "I think we should go now, it seems to me that nothing will get done if we just stand here waiting." She tried to seem indifferent as she walked over to Bane, careful not to step on the tracks, and careful to make Sure Heret wouldn't either. She looked down at the tracks for several minutes, she'd never been very good with scents, but sights, she was wonderful. Though she joked about getting lost it really wasnt true. If you set her to wandering, she'd be able to find her way back to where she started no matter what; all becuase she could memorize her surroundings and never let the image go from her mind. Even now after all these years she knows she'd be able to find her way home again if she so chose. Once she was done she raised her head to look at Bane, although she also raised her nose slightly in the air and stared down at him at the same time. "we'll be coming along now with you as well since it seems no one else is ready to set off."

"The course of action I see," Benholz began, looking up from her current endeavor and raising her voice to be heard above what was becoming very much like unorganized din, "involves, firstly, stopping and listening to those who know of what they speak." Drawing herself up regally, she looked at those she got to listen to her and continued on more loudly, in the hope of getting everyone's attention all at once. "Perhaps 't'would be best to wait for those in power to decide."

That said, she looked about for Rolan, waiting for him to give some sort of a signal. As he had neither endorsed nor condemned the scouting party...it seemed a bit rash to go rushing in without any advice.

Radosta stepped quickly forward, dropping her slender head to the tracks. A small furrow appeared between her sky blue eyes as she studied the tracks intently. Her black moist nose hovered above the prints, breathing deeply and unsettling the dust. She inhaled the scent far into her lungs, trying to record the sight and smell in her brain.

Looking up, a smile replaced her formerly serious look. Everyone seemed to be arguing too much when there were things to be done. Light paws skipped cheerfully back to the group and stood beside Benholz.

" That sounds like a ood idea to me," she said to him in her bell chimes voice.

Lumi felt like dropping her head in dismay at the new idea. were they ever going to get out of this dinky little clearing? But instead she simply raised her head, half lidding her eyes to convey that it really didn't matter to her at the moment. Even though technically it did... becuase she REALLY wanted to get this whole thing done and over with. after all, think of the children, they must be so distraught with out their christmas presents.Still, far be it from her to try and striked up a plan of actions, instead she simply sighed and rolled her head over to Heret's saying, "This may take a while."

Chanda huffled lightly, her idea gone completely awry... She looked to Lumi, though it was hard to tell under the mane. "Well, prehaps it is best.. Someone has to be here to guard the heir, especially if they've gotten this far into the glen undetected before.." She shrugged, the bangles about her tinkling. The two who had gone ahead seemed to need the space anyway..

Lumi contemplated her words for a moment, finding a flaw in them slightly. after all, if they really wanted to put the heir in trouble they would have done it already... wouldn't they have? Lumi wasn't sure, and she resisted the urge to shake her head no. So she simply nodded her head in a form of agreement. "I suppose so..."

After responding to what questions and comments she could pick out from the boisterous crowd (yes, there might be danger; the footprints were small but there were many; no it probably wasn't this Grinch character), Charlotte began eyeing the rather large throng of antsy Herla that had gathered to assist her. Pulling Rolan off to the side the both of them determined that an untrained group of this size was far too cumbersome for this particular mission given not only the small, agile, and mischievous nature of their culprits, but even moreso the treacherous terrain they would have to cross. After a quick game of hoof-antler-teeth, Charlotte got first pick but had to take a larger group.

But just as she turned about to make the announcement, she caught sight of a small group of Herla wandering off in the direction of the footprints. "What do they," she began to mutter and then took off in their direction with a slight growl.

"And just where do you think you're going," the annoyed Herla asked Bane as she cut in front of him. The question was obviously rhetorical as she quickly continued. "The ones leading this expedition are Rolan and myself. Why? Because we're more experienced in these matters and because we know what we're doing, where we're going, and just what we might run into. You, on the other hand, do not. And if you think you're going to prance right along and endanger this mission and possibly even other Herla than your skull must be as thick as the Mr. Tough-Stuff hide you're sporting." Charlotte let out the rest of her frustration in a derisive snort. "Now get back with the others," she ordered, looking directly at Bane as well as the Herla that had taken to following him.

"As for the rest of you," Charlotte shouted out in a commanding voice for all to hear. "We will be splitting into two groups. With the treacherous blizzards that have been rampaging through the Icefall Mountains the area is more than dangerous. The lead group will be headed by Rolan and the rest will be a sort of backup for them and lead by myself. Hopefully all will go well and this will have been nothing more than a precautionary measure."

Charlotte began to move her way through the crowd, picking out the Herla she felt would be of help as well as those that needed a very careful eye watching over them. The first picks were Iris and Narcissa, mostly because of his blatant naivety and her unease about getting her hooves dirty. The commander liked to believe herself good with greenhorns. Valle was picked next, mostly because she found him to be a good distraction for Iris. If there was something shiny in their group, The Pearl was less likely to wander off for something else and cause trouble. She snagged Makaio in the hopes he would be a bit of amusement for her and the rest of their group.

"Who else," she pondered, stretching her neck to look over the gathering. Chanda, Merala, and Taz were picked just out of a gut feeling. "And maybe just a couple more..." she thought to herself, mentally crossing out the Herla she knew would be in better care with Rolan. Once again, Bane caught her eye and she trotted over to him. "You're coming with me," Charlotte remarked sternly.

That left one more. Three more glances over the remaining Herla and Charlotte came to a very sad conclusion. "And I guess you too Shay," she said loudly with a sigh to match, obviously dejected at finding him the best pick. She needed someone with at least a little experience at her side...even if it meant putting up with his foppish ways.

"The rest of you are going with Rolan," Charlotte shouted. "Everyone make acquaintances with those in your group. Try to make friends if you can. And if you can't? Then keep your mouth shut. I think I can speak for Rolan and myself when I say we won't tolerate foalish behavior."

Although not one to respect his equals, Bane had an odd respect for his authorities. He never showed it outwardly, however. But he obeyed Charlotte and returned to the group. He glanced at Rook and Lumi, hoping that they didn't get in trouble for following him. He awkwardly bowed his head to Charlotte before standing at ease.

Barasuishou dipped her head and went to stand where the Herla in Rolan's group were/would be. She smiled slightly and looked around, and wondered who would be in the group, as she didnt really pay much attention to those around her, other than Makaio and the person who was talking about a "Grinch."

Lumi's face lit up with excitement when she heard of the type of weather they'd be going through, she would have trotted around happily but decided against it, after all, what on earth would the others think? But still, the smile remained plastered on her face, the snow, oh how she loved the snow. The ice and the wind and the cold, that was where her home truly was. She called off to Charlotte in a way of thanking her "good choice, back home i was called the Ice Queen becuase of my long treks through blizzards." She couldn't help but feel a bit prideful at the thought that she might be able to help after all. Her smiled almost faltered though as her guardian called in an excited voice:
"YAY! YOU'RE MAKING FREINDS!!!!!" the giggles that followed didn't help either.

Heret did his best to listen and understand, but the rush of voices had him very confused. So, it wasn't hard to figure out why when Charlotte began speaking that the blind herla gave a sigh of relief. He listened as she called out names for the second group and frowned slightly as his name was not among them. Well... Maybe she thought him capable enough to assist the first group. He turned an ear toward Lumi as she spoke, his smile returning. "Good. Then you should be able to keep me from falling on my bum." He joked.

Chanda's tail flicked in an irritated manner as she was chosen for the larger group. It was my idea for the scouting party in the first place She tossed her horns slightly, suddenly far more restless. And now I'm going to be in a group full of greens... Chanda watched as bane walked over, supruisingly with no cocky quip. He certainly didn't seem to fit among greens, as neither did she, so prehaps there was a bit more to Charolet's thinking than the better and the worse. She'd allways had a horrrible habit of questioning authority, maybe that was why she wandered rather than lived in a herd. Chanda drifted over near Bane without much thinking about it, half hoping that the others in the larger group would rather not come near.. She'd never been good with crowds... or more than two herla at a time... We're not shy... Her guardian reassured her, Just wary.

Lumi looked towards Heret as he made the comment and nudged him with playfully. "whats a matter?" she asked a teasing tone in her voice. "not much good at ice sliding?" she gave out a small lady like laugh. "that's alright, neither were my younger brother and sister. once step on the ice and they'd be flat on their backs in the middle of the lake in no time." She smiled at the feeling of nostalgia, before getting a more serious look on her face and reassuring Heret "don't worry, I've got a wonderful eye for color; so no one in the group should get lost n the snow. The only thing we'll have to worry about is accidently falling into a snow drift... i used to do that quite a bit back in the day..." Lumi admitted an embarrased tone and smile on her face.
