"I called for a cab from the otherside of town. It should be here in some time to come." Thakorise looked down sadly. Her eyes rest on her legs as she thought of how her luck had turned out. "I think...I think i'll look for escape on the East Side next time. Maybe i'll be able to extract myself from my life there." She dipped inside her bag and took out her engagement ring. She looked at it sadly. "You know, you're lucky. People don't expect you to be someone you're not and you're free." She resumed her cold silence after that. This was how she was most of the time. This was when she brooded over the predictable future that was hers. She'd become a successful lawyer, have two children, grow rich and die rich. All this time married to someone she didn't love. As she rolled the ring over and over in her hand, tears threatened to form in her eyes. She placed her elbows onto her knees and buried her face in her hands sorrowfully. She wasn't cut out to live the life she truly wanted to live. All she had was what she had learned -to spend money and debate murderously.

((Why do I have the feeling im doing something, someone betted someone would do? o.O;; ))
Ace suddenly sat up, rubbing his eyes he sighed, looking at a clock on the wall he yawned he had only been asleep for about and hour or two.Standing from the couch he stretched out for moment before heading into the kitchen for a short meal.
Pulling a pan from the cabinet he placed it on the stove, igniting the eye he pulled what he needed from the refrigerator and cabinets and began to cook, as he finished up he sat down at a table and began to eat.As he ate he looked over the file once again and from the seemings of it he was a big time man, but he never really kept to many tabs on everyone in the city.
As he finished his meal he placed the plate and silverware into the sink and walked back to the couch leaving the folder on the table he walked into a spare room and changed into some different clothes.Coming back out with a leather jacket and basically the same cloths, his black jeans and t-shirt he placed on his revolver holster and put on his jacket heading out the door once again he was going out to scout the area in which Chen stayed.

Carlos sat back down at her next statement. "I guess you do plan to stay for a duration," he said with a small smile. As Thakorise explained her next thoughts Carlos just noticed her expression suddenly change from a cold stare to a sorrowful outlook. As she pulled out her engagement ring Carlos thought, I knew it. What made me think I had a chance? He suddenly had a hollow feeling as he continued to listen, Expect me to be something I'm not. I want them to, that's the way of a scam. "Free?" he asked. "You think that I'm free? I have to move from place to place in order to stay alive. Always looking over my shoulder. That's not freedom, I live in constant fear of getting pointed out." He placed his arm along the bench back behind Thakorise and leaned back. Giving a small chuckle he said, "Fortunately for me, you and Mr. Officer earlier didn't turn or take me in." Shaking his head he continued, "Damn, figured out twice. If I'm this foolish during a job than I won't live all too much longer." Leaning forward again he noticed her continued cold silence, feeling again slightly sorrowful he patted her back lightly and said, "East Side you say? Maybe I can see if I might stop by. I mean since I'm leaving this junkpile anyway, I'll see what outlooks are out there." He gave a soft smile and stopped patting her. He leaned forward placing his elbows on his knees still holding his smile, waiting to see if she'd look up with a smile as well.

"Leaving is best than living in sheltered recluse. My only friends are my books and...Kali Chen. dangerous as she is, she is everything I want to be. Look at me." She smiled sorrowfully and gestured to her body. "I'm shuttered up. I didn't know when I turned into this. I woke up one day, emerged from my bed and saw myself in the mirror. I'm associated with people way older than me. I'm not old enough to drink without my name yet. I use my face to get into bars. I woke that day and found that I looked gorgeous and found myself engaged to someone I barely even know." Tears threatened to fall but she had trained herself not to cry in front of other people. "If I could leave without sending word to everyone, I would but I cannot. It would be scandal. Do you know what its like living with the media on your doorstep. They didn't know I existed until a firm party and my father introduced me to the world. Before then, I didn't know anyone but my parents and their fellow lawyers. And here I am...not even drunk...proclaiming this to somone I hardly know. If I could only throw this ring away. If I could make myself independent without tarnishing my father's name. If I leave Viktor...I don't know what would happen and that's what I want. I don't want to grow old with two blonde children living by sending people to jail and becoming one of those old bastards I hate so much."

Carlos never understood the lives of the 'famous' people. He always figured, aside from the annoying media and paparazzis, it would be a great life. But now, hearing Thakorise talk about it, his views opened further. He suddenly felt pained by her inability to escape from what at first seemed to him as a flawless life. Looking at the ring, he knew it was expensive with all the stones in it. Rich p***k, he thought to himself, Anytime I get something like that would be stealiing. He felt bad, he wished he could do something as big and grand as an expensive ring, but with something as important as marriage, he wanted it to be legal. "You could always run away. Scandal or not, you're parents sound like they would make something up to explain your 'rebelious' behavior and how it isn't there fault. And this Viktor guy sounds like a puss to me," he said with a grin on his face. "It's no pleasure cruise, but if you live out here long enough you'll learn the ins and outs. And will be able to take care of yourself, instead of having the luck of a helpful man nearby." He laughed aloud at this previous statement he had made.

She smiled and shook her head. "You're easy to talk to...besides your ability to be an a** sometimes. I can't run away. I'm way too deep in that life now. I couldn't possibly live otherwise." She put the ring away and leaned back on the chair. "I want an exciting life. If I could get away every now and then...I would be fine. But then again...I don't know much outside my little library."

Liam had drifted off to sleep after he had written the name on the sheet of paper that now lay burried beneath his head. Giving his head a shake he resolved that it was not the two glasses of scotch that did him in but most likely fatigue. In the past few days he had not gotten all to much rest and the time he had rested did make him feel better. Standing up he gave a little strecth and pocketed the sheet of paper. Walking into his bedrrom he changed his clothing since he had been waring his current attire for more than a day. After he had changed into similar fitting clothing only a blue shirt, and a lighter shade of denim pants he went back into his study to look over some case notes. He decided that in a short while he would go and see about questioning Mr. Thakorise about his dealings with Chen. The last time Chen had been charged with a number of crimes, Liam was certain that he and his colleagues had finally gotten all the dirt they could ... unfortunately they were wrong and Chen got away without so much as a slap on the wrist. Hopefully this time could be different, but this time Liam would most likely be alone. Most of the police good or bad did not want to bother lwith taking on Chen in court no matter how much evidence was stacked againts the crime boss. This time he hoped things would be different and he could finally put the man behind bars. All he needed was something that would make anyone think him guilty, something no amount of bribing could fix. What Liam needed was a pure miracle ...

Slightly relieved to see her smile, Carlos laughed at her first line. Acting innocent in a joking matter he says, "a**? I like to call it charm. And I know it's easy to talk to me. Even as a kid I was extremely charismatic." He smiled again knowing that he at least lightened some or her load, and if he didn't at least got a smile out of it. Then he continued, "Well, if you'd like. I could show you around and teach you some things. But the first thing of any scam is to dress the part. So you'll have to leave those," Carlos points to her clothing, "at home. If you still plan on the East Side, I could see Kevin about outlooks over there and we could meet somewhere." Carlos was quickly getting ahead of himself, she never said she wanted to see him or that she even wanted to continue with this life. She wanted an exciting life doesn't mean she'll pull through. Continuing on his excited outburst he says, "It could even be a biweekly thing, more or less often as you see fit of course."

She blinked owlishly and looked at him. She did not interrupt him as he spoke. She waited for him to calm down and slyly reached out a hand to pinch him to see if she was dreaming. Only after did she realize it didn't work that way. "I think that's a great idea. Oh..." It was quiet enough to know that a car was headed that way. She could not see one yet but knew it must be her taxi. "I guess its soon time for me to go. Do you have a number?"

Carlos quitened down when she spoke of leaving soon. He could hear the car approaching as well now and a sorrowful look came upon his face as he knew they would soon split. Hearing her last question he answered, "I don't have one personally, but my friend, whom I stay with, has a cell phone you can get a hold of me with." Suddenly a Thakorise and Carlos were illuminated as the headlights turned the corner and came towards them. Sighing he pulled a pen out of his pocket and searched for something to write on. Unable to find anything quickly he tore a piece from his shirt. Writing the numbers (435)555-8582 upon it, he handed her the piece of cloth and then ran off before the cab came to a halt in front of Thakorise.

She watched as he gave her the number. Before she could thank him, he had run off. Thakorise made to call to him but stopped herself. She looked in the cab and saw Lou. He was an old Chinese man that would travel the entire city if she'd asked. She always requested him. He got out and greeted her. Pulling her door open for her, he let her slide inside and he shut her door gently but firmly. He got in and took off. Thakorise was silent and completely engaged in her thoughts. Lou noticed this about her and tried to shake her from it. "Miss Thakorise, was that someone bothering you back there." "No Lou, that was..." Well, it was natural for her to stop. She did not know what to call him. As she thought on it, Lou raised an eyebrow subsequently, she finished by saying, "a friend." "I didn't know you even knew what that word meant," Lou joked. Thakorise blushed and hid her face. "Don't tease me Lou." "I apologize. So, what is it, to your home or to Viktor's place." "Take me home Lou...take me home." "You know...a flower that is stationary never grows. It is the ones on the vines that know the most, see the most and live the longest." "Why is that Lou?" "Because...they are free to grow wherever they please and so their eauty comes from all they see. Their beauty is nothing without the support of their vines, remember that." "Thank you Lou." Lou nodded his whitened head and drove in silence. Thakorise pondered on what he said. Her tension eased and her face lightened extremely. She breathed a sigh of relief. She understood completely what Lou was saying. She was the flower that was beautiful, but her vines were not strong enough to hold her for long...so her nutrients would not get to her. She would wither that way. "Well," she said as he pulled up before her home, "I'll just have to strengthen those vines. Thank you once more." "Thanks will be accepted when smiles flourish on your face and sickness gone from your eyes." "Sickness?" "The sickness that is longing and hate, Thakie. Goodnight to you." She stepped back as he pulled off leaving her in a puzzled mess. Shaking her head, she turned to the house she stood before. It was actually a section of the mansion that was her parent's. Her wing was a house in itself. A big, cold house at that.
Thakorise entered and went up to her bedroom. She changed into slacks and a small, tight shirt that exposed her belly button. She went down to her kitchen and found something tiny to graze upon. She was not in the mood to eat anything big at that moment. She went back upstairs and found the number she had been given. She was not sure whether or not to call. She started dialing twice but put down the phone before the last digit. Going back down to her kitchen, she found herself a bottle of Chardonay. She stayed down there and drank about half the bottle and some champagn before stumbling up to the bedroom. She found the number on her bed and called it. She was drunk to some degree and kept saying hello after every ring.

Carlos had waited around the corner and watched her off. The cab driver being much kinder than the usual jerks that drove around here. Must know her, he ended with that thought before turning around and leaning against the wall. Giving a small grin, he pushed off the wall and started to walk towards his destination. She has a number, he thought, his smile getting wider. He decided to take a longer way to his little hide out. Maybe I'll pass the restaurant.
A cell phone can be heard ringing and vibrating on a table in the other room. Kevin, laying down another box, stands and walks over. Flipping the phone open he answers, "Carlos, where the hell are you? We need to get out of here if it's as bad as you say it is." Kevin instinctively thought it was Carlos considering he was the only one that knew it...until now.
Carlos peered through the restaurant window as he walked passed it. The booth where he made his first adventurous save was now occupied by an older couple eating some type of soup. It didn't matter much to him as he continued pass and turned the corner. No more pit stops now, he thought as he quickened his pace, next stop. Outta here. Carlos was now running as he turned another corner, Five more blocks, two more corners.

"No, no, no, no," said Thakorise in quickly. "Not Carlos...no...wait. Yes...carlos. I want Carlos." She was sprawled over her bed drinking from a Sherry bottle. He hair was a mess and her face red. She would hiccup every now and then. It was obvious that she was sinking in her drunken state but it was something she did quite often. "I want Carlos. I make...I make offer."

"Hello?" Kevin asked confused, "Who is this? How did you get this number? And how do you know Carlos?" Kevin was slightly agitated but regained himself and calmly continued, "Carlos isn't here right now. May I leave a message and I'd prefer to hear about this offer."
Turning his second corner Carlos was now just two blocks away. He wondered how Kevin was doing and if most of the stuff was packed already. He slowed to a jog as he came another half block closer. Once again fatigue was overcoming him and his leg muscles were growing sore. Hope there's opportunities in the East Side, he thought as he recalled the time he spent with Thakorise. Now only walking he crossed the vacant road towards the metal door that lead to his 'home'. Well was his home, now he must leave.

"Carlos gave me...gave me the number. That his name? ...Yeah...that his name. I got number from Carlos." She stated the last bit a matter-of-factly, as though he had offered any contradiction. She continued to babble and her voice was slightly slurred. "I want Carlos...but he not there...well...you Kevin. Yeah...you Kevin. Tell Carlo-Carlos Thakorise wants talk to him. Yeah...Thakorise wants talk. yeah...ummm, that it. I think. You Kevin...i think. You Kevin, right?"
