He made it home and stumbled in the door. His mother greeted him, just as Saieve tumbled to the floor, knocked out.
---
He awoke. It was early evening. He felt much, much better. He stretched. Where was he?
He looked around. He was on a roof; the roof of his building. He looked around again.
There was a mangled body next to him. It was half-dissolved, and it was unrecognizable. Saieve immediately thought of his mother.

It was like fire coursed through his veins at this moment. He had no control over what was happening. With lightening quick reflexes, Jesse reached over and snatched a quill from his shoulder, then launched it towards the cop's hand which held the gun. He hoped he'd puncture it and make him vunerable to any other planned attacks that were to come forth, but for some odd reason, he knew that this wouldn't be the end.

While the quill was thrown pretty hard, it was still just a single quill that weighed less than 6 ounces. It hit the cop's hand and bounced off, barely scratching the skin.
It bounced to the ground.
Then the wind picked it up and blew it away.
The cop began sniggering, then burst out laughing.
Now would be a good time to escape. Escape or get shot.

Clarissa felt like laughing as well, but she felt it better spending that time running the hell out of there. She grabbed Jesse's hand and started running out of there. She ran straight to the library and hurriedly tried to open the building's door (with the key - otherwise there wouldn't be a point in hiding would there?). Once the two had gotten inside, she locked the door behind them and fell on the ground. "What's going on?" She looked up to the guy - he still hadn't told her his name.

Saieve choked. Wha...what is this? he thought, "How did I get up here?" he added aloud, "How...how did I get up here? What...what happened? Who is that? Who did that?" his voice rose as more questions came to mind.
"Did...I do this? No! I couldn't do this...I don't even know what kind of thing could..."
He thought of his mother, "Mom!" he practically yelled. He ran to the edge of the building and hopped off and ran inside to look for her.
"Mom!" he called again, worried.

The police officer was close behind. He began pounding on the door. "Open this door immediately!" he shouted.
---
No sign of his mother.

"Nonono..." he muttered to himself as he searched, he was doing his best to keep his cool. He looked for a note, a sign, anything. If he couldn't find anything, he would go back to the roof and search the body for anything that could be used for identification.

Clarissa scrambled away from the door. "Eh? He followed us?" She thought he wouldn't have; she hoped for it anyway. She looked down at her black claws and touched her face. Why is this happening? She quickly got up and stared at the door in fear. Please just turn and walk away.

(hehehe, that was pretty funny. Played out just how i didn't imagine it hehe)
Jesse looked back towards the door and shook his head.
"I don't know really... All I know, is that I want answers for this" He said, motioning to the many spines sticking out all over his body. He then looked back to her and asked, "Are you alright?"
Just as quickly as he looked to her, he looked back at the door.
"Damnit! This isn't good" he added. "Soon, the cops are gonna swarm this place. We need to get outta here... Find another place to hold up until the heat's off of us"
The thumps on the door continued.
"Goddamnit all! JUST GO AWAY!" he shouted at the door in a sudden fit of anger.

As the two got further from each other, they felt their powers start to...recede. The spikes withdrew and Clarissa's arms rebuilt themselves.
The cop was not risking it anymore. After calling for backup on his radio, he readied his gun and fired into the lock.
Extremely unfortunately for Jesse, the trajectory of the bullet landed it straight in his right shoulder. He went down with a cry.
---
No dice inside. The place was a mess.
He went back outside. Was it his imagination, or was the bit of flesh even smaller? It seemed to be an arm, but it was purple and veiny. He could make nothing out of it.

Saieve was short on breath. He was desperate now, scared. What the ******** had happened? He cautiously nudged the piece of flesh with his foot. Dear God! He hoped that wasn't his mother. He sat, not sure what to do next. Maybe he could call someone. The police, maybe?
They could send out a search party for his mom, but what about the fleh?

Clarissa stared at her arms in amazement before walking closer to Jesse to grab his hand. After touching him, she found that her arms grew darker and that Jesse's spikes returned. So...we cause this in each other? She didn't have time to think on it any further when she heard a gun shot ring out.
She screamed as she saw Jesse fall, holding his shoulder. All the sadness and confusion and self-pity she felt drifted away. Now she felt fury. Her hands were tense and she was ready for a battle if the cop decided to continue shooting at them. Jesse was possibly the only other one like her out there; she wasn't going to let him be killed.

"********!" he shouted as he held onto his shoulder. The warm blood seeped through his fingers and onto the carpeted floor beneath him. He looked over towards the door and saw Clarissa standing there as if she was ready for a fight.
"Clarissa! Don't! They'll shoot you too..." Jesse said as he felt himself getting weak from the loss of blood. He also felt himself lose his latent abilities. The quills receeded back inwards, leaving him in his human form. He then began to think, This is good... He just shot an unarmed kid... which is what the cop did to be honest. Who's really going to believe otherwise?

Saieve should choose a course of action within his post, or one will be decided for him.
A bad one.
---
The cop kicked the door inward, having busted the lock. "Move an inch," he said, "and I will shoot you." It was clear that he was not messing around.
Jesse realized that the crowd from earlier had seen him with his quills. There would be no problem finding witnesses to tell why the cop had shot the freak.

Clarissa now found herself facing a gun. A loaded gun. Well....darn. She was both angry and afraid. She wanted to forget all this happened. She wanted to run away or hide or anything to get away from this situation without getting hurt. However, she was angry because she kept feeling the desire to tear the police man to pieces. No! I don't want to hurt him. I don't want to feel his warm blood running down my hands...NO! I don't want to be this monster.
She was shivering and looked at the policeman with pain in her eyes. "Please, officer...don't shoot." But if you must shoot, please aim to kill. If he missed his shot, then he would be the one dead instead of her.
