He led her through his mind, to the years before he lost his emotions. He showed her the happiness he felt with his small family, the two older women who took care of the children. He showed her the terrible attack on them, the loss of his emotions. The endless centuries without any color or emotion, just a sense of duty and honor. He sped ahead several centuries and showed her his more recent memories. The times when he could hung onto his soul by a thread, and the attack on the female in his attempt to save his soul, the knowledge that hsi time was growing shorter, that he wouldn't be able to hold out much longer. And then she appeared. He could see the colors of the night, the brilliant beauty of her smile, and feel all the emotions that he'd been denied since he'd lost them. It was more than he could ever ask for. Even the raw wound he held because of the loss of his family gave him joy, just the fact that he could feel the horrible loss and pain made his heart soar. This is what you mean to me, Reka. You have given me my life and my soul, when I needed it most and deserved it the least.

She blinked, unsure on how to respond to what he showed her. Oddly enough the thing that stuck out the most was how long he had lived. "Well... I'm glad you can feel again now and I'm glad I could help. Umm... are you immortal?"

"Yes and no. I can be killed, but it is hard. When I die, it will be because I choose to move to the next life with you."

She pouted a bit at that "I don't get to be almost immortal too just for being your mate? Thats no fun..."

Andrei laughed, "Of course you do, Reka, but like all power, it comes at a price. My immortality is not free either."

"That is part of the price, yes. You will need to be converted to be like me. We must exchange blood three times. And it is a painful process. Your organs and insides will be remade and your body will have to rid itself of all toxins. And you will need blood the same way that I do. In exchange, you will be able to move faster than the eye can see, change your shape at will, control the elements, see and smell and feel things that you never did before, there are so many gifts you will have. It is hard to name them all."

She wrinkled her nose at the thought of pain.. and sleeping like a potato in the ground. The rest she could deal with.. she already flew after all. "We can get to know each other a bit more before that process right?"

He nodded, "I am not so much of a barbarian that I would force your conversion. If you choose not to be converted, I will age with you and we will move to the next life in that fashion. You did not get to choose me, but you can choose this."

"...If you choose not to convert...and I bind us together like I will need to to keep my soul safe, there will be no consequences for you. I will bear the brunt of those consequences. I will sleep the sleep of mortals. Eventually I will begin to weaken. My body will begin to fail me without the rejuvenation of the soil and the sleep of my kind. The gifts of my species will fade also. I will be no more than an old man next to you."

She frowned "Thats not really a choice then. Is there a certain timeframe by when I should be converted? Thats... hopefully more than a week?" She was open to the idea.. but she still needed time to adjust to everything and well.. get to know her mate after all

"It is a choice. I will be able to live a long time that way. But you have as long as I am able to give you to decide. Though my soul tells me to bind you, I have a while yet before I must to save it. You deserve a chance to know the monster fate has seen fit to tie you to."

She waved that away "Your hardly a monster. Its not your fault you have to deal with the quirks of your species. Its just the way of nature. But we do need time to get to know each other better before this converting thing anyway.."

Andrei's brow furrowed, "How can you say that I am not a monster? After all the things...monster is probably the courteous term for what I am..."
