((Wasa - Drinks table))
((Tag to Vivi))

“Oh, no. Not really. Just Melisande.” She did remember a brief acquaintance with another raevan at the very same party that Vivi mentioned, but if given the chance she would do that one over. Best to think of it as having never happened just in case she got the chance to introduce herself to the rabbit eared frei a second time.

“I was at that party, briefly.” She sipped her lemonade as she watched Pasha talk with the menacing looking sigel. “But I saw enough to be very excited to receive an invitation to this one, and Dr. Kyou has outdone himself again. Halloween is easy enough, lots of traditions and troupes, but this,” she swept her umbrella over head to indicate all their surroundings, “is truly inspired.” She followed Vivi’s eyes to the pink-haired fawn. “If you don’t mind me saying so, he looks absolutely charming.”

Her gaze was distracted by the sight of Raevans wondering towards the plinth and its open book. “A maze?” She tilted her head back to try to get a better look, her curiosity clearly peaked.

[[ Axel -> Arriving -> Luka ]]

Axel was late, and she was never late to anything. The invitation she`d gotten from the Lab about their garden party had come at a dreadfully busy time in the year, but after doing a bit of schedule shuffling, she`d managed to get most of the day off. Thankfully, she hadn`t forgotten her outfit for the party, and now in the car she was struggling with her black wedge sandals to get them on as quickly as possible before heading towards the main area of the garden. The dressed Axel had picked was a single shoulder sky blue chiffon dress that ended a little above her knees, she`d managed to put it on before leaving the office. Her hair she`d put up so the back of her neck could breathe a bit, and her makeup was light and simple.

The place was truly beautiful, and the smells from both the flowers and food she was catching a scent of was just as delightful. It looked like almost everyone was here, and there were a bunch of Raevans. Axel`s eyes roamed around the whole place, stopping when she spotted a familiar face, she was going to have to see Luka and his guardian. The podium with garden maze above it had caught her eyes first and that`s where she headed. It looked like this was going to be one of the many activities; Axel scanned the page, wrote her name down and headed towards Luka.

“Luka!” Axel waved a little before approaching him, her smile growing on her lips as she met up with him. “How are you? Where’s Jezabroux?” Her eyes left him for a second to see if she could spot the doctor in the crowd before resting on Luka again when she couldn't find him. She hadn’t been able to talk to the guardian when they’d first met, maybe she’d be able to do so now.

((Cesc -->> Maze sign up, Vivi =drinks table))

More new faces in fact than the old ones, Xiu had written, and Cesc's eyes flitted up to Xiu's as he finished reading the line, surprised to see the wistful expression on the other's face. The feeling of loss -- he could still feel it, although it was not the same as the one that hummed from the muse... he was unsure of its cause; perhaps it was shared? The loss of a person, a friend? There was no way to know, it was all conjecture. Perhaps the sigel simply missed friends who decided for one reason or another not to join the party today. He would have to take care, he told himself, not to attribute too much meaning to Xiu's words just because he could feel that there was some... absence within him.

"I would not know... this is my first Lab party. They are all new faces to me," Cesc said in his measured, pleasant tone, offering the sigel a faint smile. First party, really, if he was honest. He was used to crowds and making new acquaintances from the bakery, and with his wandering and frequent outings with Vivi and Shepard, he was not intimidated but rather relished new experiences. But, in so far as the Lab, this was the first time he was around so many of his own kind, and thus far, he loved it. "It is early still, though. Maybe your other friends will arrive later?"

At Xiu's next line, Cesc realized what the high green hedges really were, and a soft sound of dawning understanding escaped him as he nodded, looking over at them. He dropped his eyes back to the page and then a flattered smile bloomed over his lips, pleased at having been asked. The white sigel was self-possessed and polite, his presence solid and calm. There was a steadiness about him, and a quiet good naturedness to his face that Cesc liked. He was happy to have made a good impression on him.

"It would be a delight," he replied. A maze! He had read about mazes, seen them on the back of Shepard's cereal boxes, but he had never actually witnessed one before -- and certainly not one this huge and impressive. And to have company while exploring it was doubly entertaining. "I should warn," he continued good-naturedly, I don't know if I am any good in a maze."

Turning to face the puzzle, Cesc noticed a cluster of people signing a book on a podium not far away -- even Rivener and the muse were there, having taken a different route but ending up at the same place once more. His eye wandered briefly over the people: Phiel, he knew, (so Zurine was here!) with a short man he did not recognize, and other Raevans unknown to him. A dark, hooded Raevan with a somewhat cold expression. Farther away was a sigel that looked like she had the ears of a cat, with a beautiful but rueful countenance. As Rivener signed the book, Cesc nodded -- perhaps it was good he and Xiu left, if he had asked the muse on a date? "I think that is where we sign up?" He looked at Xiu and indicated the podium.

He approached, waiting until others were finished and even waving a hello to Phiel, before he took up the pen and wrote Xiu's name and his own given name, Rhedefre, in the book.

-

"Ah, were you at that party? I am sorry to have missed you! I quite enjoyed myself, although my friend told me there was also some commotion there as well. Somehow I had missed the fireworks!" Vivi laughed, thinking back to that evening. She had been distracted, yes -- by the godling Zul, by his beautiful costume, by all the fascinating things that made him him. But Shepard had told her about some sort of fight that had occurred... "And, oh! Thank you very kindly! But also I must confess, I too find him rather charming."

She smiled broadly, and then turned slightly as Wasa mentioned the maze, her eyes sparkling with keen interest as she, too, suddenly realized what it was. "A maze, my goodness, what an idea! You are quite correct, this is truly inspired. I think there are people signing up to take part there?" She indicated the podium with her spoon.

As she turned, she also caught sight of one of her favorite people, Zeke, conversing with some others... she made a mental note to go and hug the man as soon as she was able.

((Namini & Prajna: in the open field, flocking Luka & Axel))

While it had seemed that the trio already preoccupying the shade had acknowledged the Star’s presence, Prajna noted through Ronan’s greeting and the shifting of gazes from the others, the redhead was quite pleased to know that for the most part, they allowed Prajna to scoot further away, unbothered, though Prajna was rude in simply ignoring Ronan’s simply innocent inquisition on whether the Star would have preferred the man to move over so it could join them. No, no, this was fine, right over here, away from others. Prajna released a soft sigh of contentment as it, like some kind of great bird of prey, continued to scout the premises for a familiar face. There were so many more people now, it was much more distracting and difficult to pinpoint the Star’s favorites. There was still no sign of the nostalgic crimson hair of Vyn or Varun, no sight of a crown of thorns or a flicker of golden head-fins. There was an unusual sight of a recently befriended Cobra, the noise-eating male looking odd and almost too human-like for Prajna’s tastes in his new, foreign clothing. The expression on the dark haired Frei was a bit unsettling today, seeming unlike himself and Prajna made a small mental note to avoid Basil…for now. Blue eyes continued to scan the horizon, noting Delia (ugh!), Lucia (double ugh!!) and a few other acquaintances Prajna wondered if it should bother interacting with again. It had been a while since the Star played with Xiu.

That’s when Prajna caught a soft blur of cream in its line of sight and noted Luka’s newfound availability, now that he had just left some icy looking Frei and a stranger of a human. Luka seemed to be looking for something or someone, probably his man, but Prajna shook that concern aside. Luka was free to play with now! With a sudden kick in its “step”, Prajna seemed to shoot out of its spot beneath the trees like the fallen star soul that it was and made a beeline straight for its Satyr friend. The abrupt motion had caught Namini’s attention from her spot at the dessert table and her stomach seemed to sink. What was Prajna up to now? She thought as she finished off her last chocolate covered strawberry and followed her Frei towards trouble. When she caught up to the redhead, both were caught in an awkward position as Prajna had stopped a few feet away from Luka to see that another human had already approached him. The Star… pouted and rudely interrupted the woman, out of the feeling that it really had no other options.

Luuukkkaa~” Prajna purred as it wrapped its arms playfully around the other’s neck and nuzzled his cheek. “Prajna waiting all day to see Luka~! Luka missing Prajna yes? Wanting to play with Prajna too?

Namini was hot on her Frei’s heels and immediately finished Prajna’s introduction with an apology to the dark haired woman, “I’m terribly sorry Prajna interrupted you and Luka’s reunion. Prajna’s a bit selfish, if you find that excusable.”

The girl’s cheeks were warm and pink with embarrassment as she shot Prajna a disciplinary scowl but tried to make up to it by introducing herself to the group instead. Offering a hand to the older woman, a graceful looking lady who seemed, in appearance, perhaps the female counterpart to David, with her dark hair and blue eyes, tall stature and fit physique, “Hi, I’m Namini Nao. I’m Prajna’s guardian. I’m assuming” she turned for a moment to smile at Luka. “You and Luka have met before?”

Prajna watched the two human women, disinterestedly before turning back to Luka... only to spot Cesc and Xiu signing something odd nearby. It seemed there was a small line of pairs, scribbling quickly into a small book on a white pedestal nearby. It seemed like there was some kind of event going on, as Prajna recalled how the sign-ups for the paintball event a few summers back were orchestrated. Grabbing Luka by the hand and rushing off with the Satyr for a moment, Prajna led them to the book, just as Cesc and Xiu had finished, after skimming the supposed rules, the Star scribbled both of the young Freis' names into the book and drew a little star at the end. The Star then turned back to Luka and smiled widely, stating matter-of-factly, "Luka and Prajna can talk much about time past in maze. Luka... would like to get lost with me, right?"

It was unusual for the Star to address itself using first person but it seemed that there resided some glistening of familiar mischief in its cerulean eyes...

(We`rika - Maze Sign-Up)
(Tag to Petite)

We`rika followed Phiel's line of sight to a very blue raevan that put Sevilin to shame. His expression grew pinched as he stared at her, fairly sure he had met her before. Then why didn't he know the owner? "Huh, yeah, I think I've me' her before--Err, well my boy me' her an' I jes kinda, ya know, stood there." In fact, he could have sworn the girl's guardian had been someone much younger, but he had other things on his mind at the time, like that damned crippled boy and his slap-happy frei! Just thinking about them put a sour look on his rough face.

"Oh, uh, I'm We`rika by the--Whoa!" We`rika darted out of the way before another pretty frei came floating in to sign up for corn or whatever the hell it was. She (or he?) was a new face as well and the Mexican suddenly felt very out of the loop. All these new raevans popping up like daisies! "Uh, an' tha' lil... bundle of joy is mine, Sev'lin..." He sort of pointed in the kinda, sorta direction his son had gone, because where ever he was it wasn't anywhere visible.

With introductions out of the way, We`rika awkwardly waited for the raevan to finish, hoping he didn't seem as scary as he.... well.... knew he looked. When shhh... he? wasn't looking, he grabbed Phiel's attention and quietly pointed to him/her and mouthed the words "You know this one?"

((Zeke -- Sitting area tag to Neon, Arana, Aphi, and Ebs

Anya -- Still in the bloody car U: ))

He grasped the hand held out to him firmly when he reached the group he had set eyes on. The smile he had been flashing grew in size when Leo greeted him and it broke into laughter when the photographer questioned him.

"Don't sweat it Leo!" He hadn't forgotten the plans to do a shoot with himself and Anya as the models. He nodded his head. "We are! Just give me a call whenever you're free and we'll set something up." As far as he was aware, his Frei hadn't forgotten. She just hadn't brought it up recently.

Ethiriel needn't speak to gain the vet's attention, but the greeting was welcomed and returned all the same. The vet offered her a smile and upon releasing her Guardian's hand, he reached out and gently touched her own.

"Hello, Ethiriel. It's great to see you." He returned his hand to his side and nodded. "I have, how about you? Been keeping Leo out of trouble?" He was teasing of course and showed he was to the photographer with a playful wink. Immediately after speaking, however, he was quick to turn to Ronan, offering his hand in turn to the selkie he stood next to.

"Long time no see, Ronan. Having a good time?" They might have only met twice, but Zeke was well aware the older man was not yet a Guardian and as such he wanted to make sure those who weren't yet graced with a Raevan had the most fun of all. If Ronan had fun today, then that made it more than likely he'd apply to become a Guardian himself! The man struck Zeke in a good way when they had been properly introduced and with that came good wishes that the selkie would one day become a true blue member of the family.

With greetings now out of the way, the vet let himself relax in the midst of his three companions. Although the notion that he couldn't stay lingered in his mind, he figured he could at least get a little chit chat out of the way before whisking off with Anya to the beach. He could limit himself to these three and be fine, but of course life is funny in many ways and the vet spied two familiar faces making their way toward their area. Ever the extrovert, he raised his arm and waved them over and like before gave a hearty hello to Ebony and Aphismet.

(( duncan and mordekai - arriving -> drinks table ))

Mordekai was a bit hesitant about going to the Lab festivies, strangely moreso than Duncan was, but he accepted the extended invitation from his father-in-law anyways. It was only when they were at the entrance of the garden that he started to hesitate, looking longingly behind him and counting to himself how many hours it might take before he could take a polite leave.

Duncan glanced around and adjusted the rim of his borsalino cap and bowtie. It was a bit nerving to see that not a single one of them were his age, which made him feel all the more like the codger he'd pull jokes about during his own relative youth. He was grateful enough that at least a few looked Mordekai's age, though it was difficult to tell, as Mordekai still looked quite young for his age anyhow.

The two glanced at each other, and Mordekai sighed and walked into the entrance headstrong, with a still-timid Duncan following him soon after. They silenlty walked their way towards the drinks area, which was a familiar enough place for the younger of the two to at least ease his posture.

"What'd you like?" Mordekai glanced back at Duncan while he helped himself ot his own drink, stiffly sniffing the beer before taking a small sip. He nodded, "This is good. Local, even."

"Nothing for me, but thank you," Duncan replied, hesitantly moving himself and Mordekai a few more feet away from the drinking table.

"See anyone you know?" Mordekai took a long sip of his drink and glanced around, "Most everyone here looks about old enough to play at a Kids Zone in an amusement park. Maybe we've hired one of them before at the store. Or saw 'em with the Petits at day care."

"No, I haven't... well, I've met Mr. Farris and his Raevan, at the appointment," Duncan looked around helplessly and spotted that patch of familiar lime-green and purple hair, but he also noticed that he was surrounded in other company-- he turned away and scratched his forehead, "But it looks like they're preoccupied."

"Well, if you're not gonna say hi to them, looks like I'll be leaving sometime soon. How long do you plan on staying?"

Duncan glanced back at the sitting area again and made note that the lavender-haired miss was absent from the quartet, but otherwise paid no special mind about it-- around him were Raevans similar to her, and it was difficult not to take brief mental notes about their individual quirks. He stared off into the trees surrounding the garden and shrugged, "I figure I'll just have something to eat and leave, then."

((Ebs – Seating Area))
((Tag Aphi, Neon, Arana, Ravi))

Though she was still a bit wary about meeting some of these new people, it was only fair that she allow Aphismet to drag her around now as she’d been doing that to him enough today as it was. And the chef had been correct about her not selling herself short. Ebony had meet plenty of people now because of the Lab and they seemed to except her with little to no complaints. This was a new turn of the leaf right? It was time to let things change for the better.

There were a couple guys already surrounding the metallic beauty, but one that was rather familiar and made Ebony feel even more at ease. The now shorthaired Brit gave a light laugh as Zeke’s face lit up immediately and he excitedly waved them over. “Ello everyone. Zeke, yes it has been quite awhile.” It was those words that reminded her of the last time they’d seen one another and how she’d had to drag Cordelia away like a spoiled little child. The memory made her blush a little in embarrassment as she inquired about his ward, “How is Anya?”

As an after thought and to be polite to the others gathered, the violaceous woman quickly reintroduced herself and the chef, “Oh yes, by the way I’m Ebony Shade and this is Aphismet Delaran.”

(( Ronan - sitting area > maze sign up > sitting are, tag to Neon, Ravina, Ebony, and Aphi ))

"Happy to say that I am," he replied to Zeke, but then stopped as a dawning realization was shown across his face. "Speaking of having a good time, there's something I've forgotten to do! Be back in a second." Extracting himself from the group with a soft "excuse me" he began to jog across the garden area until he finally came in front of the maze sign up. He had seen the sign up when had come in, planning to visit there first thing, but then he had gotten distracted by the wonderful company. No matter how nice the company however, he wouldn't have been happy with himself if he had forgotten completely.

Ronan wasn't too selective with his position, and after a few strokes of pen his name had ended up across from Iorek's. Satisfied that he had finally completed the task, the selkie jogged back over to the group just in time for the introduction of two new individuals. He gave a polite nod of the head to both of them; the woman was somewhat familiar, the paintball game coming to his mind, while the other one had a more general familiarity. He probably had just seen him around the beach at the party. "Pleased to meet you two, the name's Ronan."

((Iorek - Near BBQ : Tag to Ebs~!))

Iorek leaned in and moved alongside Cordelia to get a better look at her wings. Goodness! So her wings were knives? He drifted back so they were face to face and nodded. "I can see that. Wow! Those are something else. Have you cut yourself on them? I wouldn't be able to handle those, that's for sure." Reks shuddered to think of how many ways he'd wreck things with wings like that. They were gorgeous but knowing his string of luck furniture and people wouldn't be safe.

"Oh! Really? Heh, so you're tough and pretty." Oh jeez...Reks froze when he realized what he said. Lillian had told him women liked to be complimented on their looks...but it was embarrassing to say something like that. It was true, definitely true, but he still felt anxious actually saying so.

"It seems like we're the same." Yes. Good! Hurry off track so they didn't have an awkward pause or something. That was good. On to something he was comfortable with like strength. "We are strong but hold back so we don't hurt those around us. If my hands weren't so monstrous I'd ask if you wanted to arm wrestle."

Wait...was that okay to ask? Did girls like arm wrestling? Lil did but she wasn't a real girl..well...she was a real girl but not like other girls. Did that even make sense? Reks was losing his track of his thoughts as he panicked over the simplest things.

Pull it together man! So was asking her to arm wrestle impolite? Iorek made a small strangled sound at the back of his throat as he felt like giving in. What the heck was he to do? He was a wreck. "Not that...you're not feminine or anything...I mean...some girls wouldn't mind...I just..ah...s-sorry. You're a beautiful girl...I..wait...o-oh dear."

( Phiel - Maze Sign Up )
( Tag to Slann, Atma )

"From what I know, Zurine was... someone else before I got her," Phiel said, a little lame. He still didn't quite get what had happened, and he hadn't thought to ask for clarification. After two years, though, it seemed like the matter ought to be put to bed, and so he supposed he'd just given up on that information. Maybe someday he'd ask, but... "I'm Phiel. It's good to meet you, We'rika, I'm sure your, mm, bundle is indeed joyful." Though Sevilin wasn't anywhere in sight, even with a squint, he'd be complimentary.

Catching the wave out of the corner of his eye, he turned his gaze to Cesc. "Good afternoon, Cesc," he greeted the pink frei with a little chuckle. "Let me just do that too before I forget... Just a second." Turning, he quickly jotted Zuri's name down once he could get the pen, in what looked like an open-ish spot next to Cordelia's name. At least it was next to another girl. He didn't want to hold everyone up, so once he'd done that, he stepped aside a little to make room for others to sign up as well. "Mm-hm. I do know him. We'rika, this is Cesc; he's Vivi's boy."

((Delia – Near BBQ => BBQ))
((Tag to Wings, Kyou))

“Well I can’t really reach them, so no.” Delia laughed as she gave them a little shuffle showing how they didn’t work like traditional wings. The laughter was soon tinged with some nervousness as Reks called her pretty. Though she had dressed up some for the party, for some reason the idea of people (a guy Raevan no less) calling her such sort of slipped her mind. Thankfully the boy moved on quickly and Cordelia could relax some once more.

With a giggle, “I wouldn’t mind trying, but I don’t think it’d be appropriate for here.” Obviously her reply was drowned out as Iorek’s mind went overboard with what was right or wrong to say to her and began a long string of fumbling with his words. All his efforts to keep the conversation from becoming awkward were in vain with his final words. Though it made her blush, it also made her extremely uneasy. The last boy who’d said that to her had stolen her first kiss as well, leaving her quite confused about their relationship now.

Even though she knew he was just nervous, it only ended up making her nervous. Obviously Reks wouldn’t be so bold as to do something like that…would he? Cordelia didn’t know him that well as of yet. Awkwardly, the basilisk thanked him and excused herself quickly. “Umm…thank you…Reks, I have to…go, see Laz. Later.”

When she reached the grilling area, Cordelia exhaled harshly. She hadn’t realized she was holding her breath the whole time she’d floated away from the gargoyle, a little scared of what might have happened should she had stayed. One awkward relationship was more than enough for the girl right now. Delia inhaled deeply, enjoying the soothing scent of smoke. “Hey Laz…” she greeted weakly towards her elder.

((Ethiriel, Leo >> Sitting area; tag to Arana, Ravina, Aphi and Ebony))

Leo was glad to know that he wasn’t the only one who would have forgotten. He’d been so busy in the last few months, not the mention the last two years, he was surprised he even remembered Ronan’s appearance. The blond watched as the Selkie took Ethiriel’s hand, smiling. No matter what, she always seemed to receive such formal greetings. It was refreshing compared to the way a lot of people acted nowadays.

Ethiriel, on the other hand, was actually surprised when the man didn’t offer her a kiss. Most of them would, so when she didn’t feel his lips upon the top of her hand, her brows knit in confusion. Taking her hand back, she smiled to Zeke once more. ”On the contrary, dearest Ezekiel,” she stated, closing her eyes, “he has been… keeping me out of trouble. He… has been busy, which explains our… absence.” After her greeting with him, her hands fell before her rather than reaching back for Leo. ”Indeed, where is Anastacia…?” she asked, repeating the question the unfamiliar voice spoke. She knew that the spider wasn’t around, but where?

Extending a hand toward both Ebony and Aphismet, Leo smiled. ”I’m Leo, it’s nice to meet you. I assume you’re both Raeven owners as well?” he asked, nodding his head toward his own. ”This is Ethiriel, she’s still really young. A little over half a year now, I believe.”
Ethiriel bowed, her face resuming a more neutral expression. ”It… is a pleasure, Lady Ebony and Sir Aphismet.”

[[ Havain -- Drinks Table ]]
[[ Tag to Kitsune ]]

Havain nodded when he got the answer to his question. Well, at least he had known where they came from and that a Dr. Kyou was the one who created the race itself. It was almost god-like how he did it.

Havain waved as the Raevan known as Luka floated off. His smile dissipated after a moment into a look of confusion. "Umm...what did he mean by 'guardian'?" the puzzled look on Vain's face gave it away. He obviously knew what was meant by the word guardian -- like a caregiver of sorts perhaps? But then again, did not Dr. Kyou, the creator, take care of them? Maybe the rest of the actual humans around the party were the guardians of these little creations.

It was a rather weird subject to be on, how this unknown race came about, but as he scooted closer to the table of drinks, his mouth began to feel the thirst within. A dryness overcame him. "May I?" he asked the blue floating Raevan, pointing at the different drinks set out for the party goers to take.

Aphismet grinned broadly at Zeke, waving back to the man in a more reserve fashion since they were now within earshot and he didn't want to look silly. "Zeke, hello again! You've been well, I hope?"

And then just like that, Ebony took the wheel, launching into introductions and shaking hands, in no way seeming like she was nervous at meeting new people. Aphi smirked wryly and made a mental note to tease her about it later. He offered his hand to Ronan first, nodding. "Ronan, pleased to meet you. I'm Aphismet, as she said. I think I may have seen you around before, perhaps at the beach party a few years back. I hope you're enjoying the party!"

Then he shook Leo's, smiling as well, before taking Ethiriel's lightly and giving it a soft shake and a squeeze, foregoing the usual bow-and-kiss the Frei seemed to expect. "Leo, Ethiriel. Pleased to meet you both. To answer your question, yes, we're both guardians, Ebony and I. My own Raevan is... ah, there he is by the signing podium for the Maze. The tall, more-bodied young man with black spiky wings. That's Rivener."
