Engill"It was only just, as I scared the wits out of the old fellow" Gil pointed out to Ezra with a soft chuckle, for some reason feeling the need to justify his actions to the boy, or maybe to himself. "And I know he's never done anyone any harm in his life." "Is that nice?" he asked Ezra at the restaurant as they partook of their meal. "My hotpot is perfect and the vegetables just as I like them, just tender not soggy but not raw. Will you want a dessert? I don't have much of a sweet tooth myself but some fruit would be nice." He emptied his bowl and cleared his plate then leaned back in the chair, stretching out his long legs. "I suppose your parents have a cook and kitchen hands? I could be wealthy if I wished, I could be almost anything I want to be really I suppose with a few limitations, but I much prefer to live simply, to do for myself. The rich are noticed, the poor and simple overlooked. I prefer to be overlooked."

Ezra Schlehuber Ezra couldn't tell if Gil was insulting him for being wealthy or not. He doubted it, though. The angel didn't seem to keen on insults. At least not directed at the teen. "...I don't think anyone notices us. Er....The wealthy kids, I mean. I doubt anyone cares, unless they want something."

EngillGil smiled and shook his head. "Wealthy families - they're so often in the public eye. They have to present themselves in a particular way. Much is expected of them. They're judged and criticised whatever they do, good or bad. People make demands, beg for money or their patronage to further their own aims. They cannot know for certain in any friends are true or just goldiggers. I couldn't live a life like that. When you're poor no one expects anything of you, they still judge but from a safe distance, they leave you alone. I like being left alone." He drained his cup and sighed. "I've had a good time with you but I suppose we should get you back to your folk. We need to get you that souvenir first though."

Ezra Schlehuber Ezra sighed. That was certainly true. He himself probably had horrible ratings, being the rich kid with no social life or interest in what's going on outside his games or books. "We have that in common with each other then. I don't like to be noticed either. Unfortunately, I don't have a choice....All I can hope for is the attention of media and safe people, I guess." There were people whose attention wasn't good to have. Kidnappers, perverts, murderers....Ezra would rather avoid their radars. "Souvenir? Like what?" Finishing his noodles and dumplings, Ezra sighed again. He didn't want to go back. Would Sophia worry if she knew Ezra was safe and happy? Probably. Then there was his cat to think about.

Engill"Anything you want, Ez" Gil replied when Ezra asked what sort of souvenir. "We can look in the shops, see if there's anything you fancy. An ornament or picture or some knick-knack." He paid the 300NT$ for the meal and they left. He had known at once from Ezra's expression and demeanour when he mentioned getting him back to his people that the young man really didn't want to return. He'd offer to let him stay with him if he didn't know already that his lifestyle in the small wood cabin with no electricity or other amenities would never suit the city child. He strolled along the busy street looking in the windows of various shops. "What about a handpainted bamboo bookmark? You read a lot." He looked at Ezra with a raised brow and waited for his response.

Ezra Schlehuber Ezra followed Gil through the city, looking through the windows for a suitable yet discreet souvenir. He figured a knick-knack would do. After awhile, Gil spoke and asked about a handpainted bamboo bookmark. The teen smiled a bit. "I'd like that. I love bookmarks. There are so many designs and shapes....Can I have one?"

EngillGil nodded. "Of course you may. Buy two if you wish, there are so many different designs to choose from" he replied. He handed Ezra some New Taiwanese dollars to buy himself whatever he wanted in the bamboo arts and crafts shops they were outside of. "I'm going to buy myself a small bamboo vegetable steamer for steaming root veggies at home." He opened the door for him and went into the unusual shop.

Ezra Schlehuber Ezra took the money from Gil, smiling a bit. He wasn't going to buy two. He only needed one. Walking in with the other, he looked at all the bamboo ware, smiling. It was all so great. He went to the bookmarks and his cheeks turned pink. There were so many! How could he choose even two!? It took awhile, but the teen decided on a simple one, with a ribbon of sorts tied to it. There was also an angel painted on it, which he liked because of Gil.Holding the bookmark close, he found the other and stood next to him as he looked through the bamboo ware for what he wanted, too. "I'm ready. Did you find what you're looking for? Do you need help?"

EngillGil noticed that Ezra had chosen a bookmark with an angel painted on it and he smiled slightly to himself, touched by that. He shouldn't care and yet he did. He nodded. "I've found the bamboo steamers, they have three sizes and I was just trying to decide which to go with. I'd normally just take the small individual one for myself but I was thinking that I may get the middle sized one in case I'm cooking for you as well sometime. Do you think that's likely?" He looked to him with a quirked brow waiting for his opinion.

Ezra Schlehuber Ezra blushed. He was considering the size because of Ezra's presence? "You don't have to worry about me....I'm okay with bread and cheese. But....I wonder how often you'll see me. I really don't want to lose contact. I do like you. I don't say that lightly or often...." Maybe Ezra could convince Sophia to bring him up here on the weekends so he could talk with Gil. It was sad to think he'd never see the angel again.

EngillGil sighed and picked up the small individual bamboo steamer. Of course he wouldn't be cooking for Ezra. The boy lived nowhere near his forest, he'd be going home to the city soon and there was every chance the boy would never visit him again. Back at home he'd likely soon forget all about the angel. He paid for the steamer and then left the shop. "You're welcome to visit me any time you wish but I realise that won't be often if ever" he replied once they were outside. "Let's find a quiet corner with no onlookers so we'd don't scare the locals when we vanish."

Ezra Schlehuber Ezra frowned. Should he have just answered with the most desirable option? That would have been best. "I wouldn't mind coming back. You know, on the weekends. Maybe not every weekend, but that would be best, right? If it's alright with you, I wouldn't mind visiting." The teen followed Gil outside, staying close to him still. "Alright."

EngillGil looked at Ezra and smiled softly. "That would be nice. I'd like you to visit sometimes" he replied. " I'm pleased you say you like me. I like you. And I generally don't like people. It's been a very long time since I met a human I could honestly say I liked." He walked along until they came to a quiet corner with few people around and when he thought it was safe, Gil transported them from the Taiwanese city back to the quiet of the forest. "I hope you don't get into trouble for having strayed from your pack again" he told him with a small frown. "Do you wish me to walk you back to your campsite or would that make matters worse for you?" He really didn't understand why the young human wouldn't let him simply strike down those who upset or hurt him.

Ezra Schlehuber The teen was glad Gil would like to see him more. It felt nice to be desired for nothing other than to talk to. Once back at the forest, Ezra retrieved his bag and placed the bookmark in it. "..I'm going to be in trouble either way. I doubt it matters if you walk me back. I wouldn't mind if you returned me. They're probably not there, but it'll be better for me. I didn't want to be stuck with everyone in a small building."

EngillGil put his bamboo steamer in the cabin. He then removed the shirt so he could stretch his wings wide for a few moments. He closed his eyes and thought. He seemed by his expression to make some decision. He took a knife from his belt and cut off a lock of his long blond hair. Then he plucked a flight feather, wincing slightly. It was still strange to him even after all these centuries that he could feel pain now, an effect of his banishment, part of his punishment. He tied the lock of hair around the quill and handed it to Ezra. "I am breaking so many rules giving this to you" he chuckled. "But I could hardly be in any more trouble than I am already, there's little more they can do to hurt me now. Keep this well hidden and only use it in an extreme emergency. If you put a drop of your blood on the feather and concentrate, you'll be brought straight to me no matter where I am. I have never before done this for anyone, given such a precious thing to any human. I will walk back to your campsite with you and leave you safely there." He tucked his wings close, put on the shirt then held out his hand to the youth.
