Dancing for the pig had been tiring for the most part but overall she felt as though it had been worth it. She was curious as to why she told the bird that she didn't think it was understanding. So were the birds not understanding what was going on or was it something else.
Arriving back to where they had started she looked at the red bird who had the clutch. Clearly by the way things were going this was a dream by how they were able to go through the wall and such.

The white bird nods. Its neck seems to lengthen, along with its wingspan. Its task is actually quite simple, although perhaps not what you might have expected - it seems like it's simply too lazy to perform its own emotional labor. "There is a lovely pig who tends to a garden. Show her a dance that expresses the depth of my regard, and I will carry you to your goal." With that, the bird swoops over your head and out of the room, presumably to watch the performances in the pig's garden.
You follow, eventually. No matter how lovely your dancing, the boar only seems to laugh. Six fireflies join your dance as backup, however. When everyone has performed, though, she plucks a rose from her garden and lays it at the bird's feet. "I think you still do not understand love," she tells the bird. "But come again tomorrow." She winks at you.
The bird is too sulky to help you any longer, but the pig takes pity on you. "Are you too weak to carry these travelers?" she chides the white bird, and it somehow takes every kin present on its wings, and flies through the walls of the cave to your destination.
The black bird's laughter echoes in your ears, but at least you've made it through. Here, the red bird is waiting for you, next to a nest that contains - yes - the children you have been seeking, along with two large, jeweled stones that could not possibly be kin eggs. "You're the one who lost track of them," she sniffs. "They're mine now. You'd only lose track of them again."
Bury's elation grew as she could smell the familiar scent of the children - and, unfortunately, dwindled hearing the familiar voice of one of the birds from the atrium. "That'd be a fair assessment, were it true." Bury retorted, agitated by the birds condescending tone. "One can not 'lose track' of what was stolen. The concepts do not go hand in hand. However, I am not here to make excuses. I - we - did not come all this way for nothing. We did not simply shrug off their disappearance. We strove to make up for the fault in our care for them.
No kin is perfect. Not even you, as wise as you may seem.
There will be a time in which you will eat or sleep. In which you would leave the children otherwise unsupervised and they will be stolen from you like they were from us. What have you then? How far would you travel, what lengths would you go to, to save these children that were never yours to begin with?"

Howlback was tired and peeved and irritated but this wasn't anything new. "Really, well come on then. Lets have a duel and get this over with." She said, tired but still sparky.
She'll stop when she died.

A dance? That was easy enough, she assumed. While the boar wasn't too amazed by her show, she was glad to move on. When they reached the kin and the eggs her ears folded against her head. She.... lost them? Her mouth tightened, fighting the desire to lunge forward and snatch the babies forcibly. No. Use your brain here... Perhaps, for now, she could try reason and wit.

"They are mine."Take snarled at the red bird, pawing at the ground aggressively. This creature sought to take his clutch? Then he would win them back through brute strength, uncaring of the physical cost. He bared his teeth silently, his whole bidy bristling. Stupid feathered creature. They would see who would claim the sacs!

Guardian gave an internal laugh. So she’d been mistaken on what the possible feat of strength would be, but it was forthcoming which wasn’t a terrible thing honestly. So, she moved off to the stone with the other kin who’d chosen similarly and began to push and shove against the large stone to make it move.
Once it was finally done, she was breathing heavily, but noticed all the fireflies following her, and gave them a curious look before her attention was drawn away and back to the bird who was talking to them. She couldn’t think of a logical argument to regain the clutch of eggs, and a duel wasn’t her style either.
She moved toward the bird then, to offer her help, unworthy though it was, in sharing the task of watching the sacs. Nothing was ever said about the kin staying there once they emerged after all, but really, the bird had proven its self to be a better care giver than herself. Perhaps she could learn a thing or two, if she was deemed worthy enough to give assistance in the end.

Pref List: ori, spyro Decision: D. It's a dream, imagine the sac is safe Current HP: 1/10 Current Fireflies: 23
Yearning looked at the birds, then at the sacs situated by the jewel stones. The red bird herself had forcefully pointed out in her test of wisdom that dreams can be changed by the dreamer. Yearning had to believe that the sacs were truly safe, in here and in reality. She closed her eyes and thought hard, trying to force it to be true.

Pref List: Spyro, ori Decision: D) Well - the bird itself has pointed out that this is just a dream. You have a certain amount of control over dreams, right? If you can manage to convince yourself that the clutch was never lost, perhaps it'll be true in the dream, as well... Current HP: 04 / 10 Current Fireflies: 14
Wait what...? How come the red bird was talking to her now? Surely she had been sticking around the white one...right?
Freedom definitely remembered that it was the white lazy one that she was with. She even had to dance like an idiot in front of a pig... Her face held a disgusted look remembering that animal actually winking at her in the end. Ugh, gross..
The creepy laughter from the black bird made her question what is actually going in inside the cavern.
If this was just a dream, then of course the colours of the birds don't matter anymore.
Freedom's attention focused on the nest.
If this was a dream, then maybe the things inside the nest was none of what I am seeking. Perhaps the youngs were never lost to begin with.
"THis is just a dream," she told the birds, "I never lost them, they are all here safe with me. In a grove safely hidden under a cluster of poison ivy." She stared hard at the massive birds. "You three, you three are just part of my imagination in my dream. When I wake, all of you will turn back to small birds I can crush with my jaws."
This is all just a dream, I need to wake up. I need to wake up NOW.
Freedom, kicked her own leg really hard against the giant rock, hoping that the intense pain would wake her ...

((HANGING ON BY THE SKIN OF MY TEETH........)) Pref List: ori Decision: D Current HP: 1/10 Current Fireflies: 29 The task was easier than expected. Keeper had performed a number of times for his tribe, and he could do the same now. However, the movements came slow and half-remembered (wasn't it just yesterday that he practiced this last?) and he couldn't say he was surprised to find it was not enough. Still, it got him through the stone. The thing about dreams was that they had a tendency to feel real to the dreamer. He lashed his tail at the revelation, ears pulled back, but he knew what to do. After giving Surviving the Storm a consoling brush on the shoulder (how dedicated she was! He would not forget this; he would not abandon her, and they could search again for her own young after this was through), he reached for the eggs...

The dance was fun and she loves her back up dancers. Getting to the clutch that she was watching over, Wings looks to the black bird. "They are not yours." She walks up to the the babies she was watching over, but something feels off. Moving her nose to sniff at them, but still something smells funny.
At each inspection she can get to, Wings keeps feeling like something is off about the whole thing. She stops and goes over everything the bird has said. "You say this is a dream. In my dreams, you have no power over me."

No matter what choice you picked, an amount of fireflies equivalent to half of your first die roll, rounded down, (the first number only) commend you for your efforts. If you only rolled one die, your first die will be counted as 0, and your second die will have the number shown on your roll. If you did not roll any dice, you will not receive any bonuses related to dice rolls. For the second die roll (the second number only), please follow the instructions as outlined below. If you picked A, the red bird bows her head to you. "Hmm," she says. If you rolled an odd number, add one. If you rolled an even number, keep your roll. Divide your new number (either your original roll, or your original roll plus one) by two. If this number is perfectly divisible by three, the bird is convinced, and returns the clutch to you. Otherwise, you lose 2 HP as the bird swipes in your direction. Regardless, gain the halved number in additional fireflies for your efforts. If you picked B, the red bird laughs. "Is this a ploy to distract me?" she asks. She will not leave the nest, so your opponent is the black bird. Divide your roll by 5, and round down. This is the amount of HP you lose in the scuffle. If you're still present in the dream when it's over, the red bird cedes the clutch to you. If your roll is even, gain 9 additional fireflies for an honorable fight. Otherwise, something about the way you fought means only three additional fireflies find their way to your side. If you picked C, the bird looks very pleased. "Clever," she says. "If you will share your responsibilities, then I will share my friends." Regardless of your roll, your HP does not change, and you gain 5 additional fireflies. You can tell the bird is willing to work with you - she's letting you take custody for now, at least. If you picked D, exercises of the mind are harder than you thought. If your roll was 10 or 20, you find yourself, suddenly, in the red bird's position, watching over your clutch. The red bird perches where you once were. Gain 20 fireflies for your impressive accomplishment. Otherwise, the concentration required to accomplish the task causes you to lose 5 HP and get nowhere. If you have not been reunited with your children, they fade out of existence, as though they had never been present. The two large stones are still present, though. The red bird looks over the assembled group. "That's it. You're done," she says. "You can leave now. Go sulk in someone else's nest." If she has any reaction to the hostility of someone who has been denied a reunion with their clutch, she does not show it. "Hey," says the black bird. "You're forgetting something." It flies over, pushing the red bird out of the way, and putting the large stones into view - one white, and one purple. They look, strangely, like large bird eggs, but they're glowing from within. "Regardless of what she thinks of your efforts, if you've stuck around this long, you must have done something to be admired." Sure enough, the cavern is lit with the glow of curious fireflies. The bird appears, strangely, to squint. "Our friends are wise, too. These stones are gifts, for those of you who've attracted the most admiration." He thumps his talons on the purple one. "Come on," he tells his friend, picking it up and depositing the purple stone in front of one kin. FrostyPeaches Colored by Kitty SprighttThe red bird grumbles about it, but she moves the white stone in front of a certain kin, as well. Strawberri Stardust Colored by Kitty Sprightt"You forgot me," says the white bird, sulky. It has another stone, gleaming silver, which it awards to a different kin. Lirilei Colored by Amorpheous"Good-bye," says the black bird's voice, and it's the last thing anyone hears. When you wake up, you are exactly where you fell asleep. If there was an actual clutch you were guarding, it's perfectly safe. If not, you think it over. It was all a dream, you think. Just a dream...but you weren't alone, when you dreamt it. If you received a stone in the dream, it is nowhere to be found when you wake up. But you feel a little surer, a little more refreshed when you're awake. You're going to have a good day - no matter how your dream turned out. Please refer here for final scores. As announced, kin were awarded to the surviving players with the highest firefly count. The tie for second place was broken by a dice roll - see the above post.
